As we've had a mass of self-congratulatory threads lately, I thought it was time to redress the balance. Post in here the times you've got it wrong in the past and confess your sins, all will be forgiven. Go back as far as you like.

    I'll start:

Freddy Eastwood - I said this was a good signing at the time, he looked good for Southend when we beat them at Molineux. I realised very quickly that he wasn't.

Mark McGhee - I was extremely happy with his appointment. Clearly I shouldn't have been.

Matt Jarvis - I went too far with slagging him off. I still don't think he's that great, he's very much a one trick pony, but he's better than I said he was.

Michael Mancienne - Kind of the same thing. He's played three games for us and done quite well, and saying that we should pay £8-9m for him now is just silly. But still, I wrote him off on the basis of a couple of poor games that I saw him play at Molineux.

I'm pretty sure that there are many more - so, confessions here please, gentlemen.

I slagged off Neill Collons mercilessly last season but have to admit he's changed my opinion of him. Still possibly not a genuine first teamer but adequate cover should other players get injured.

Also slagged of Mick McCarthy last season for his square pegs mentality but glad that he's proven me wrong.

There's probably more but those will do for now.

Just possibly proves I'm Passionate about Wolves and want us to be successful.

I've never really had any strong opinions to be wrong on really... would've head Ince this summer though, that would've clearly been bad!

    My first one;
Mike Bailey is a fat pig who breaks into a sweat before he gets out of the tunnel. (In my defence I was a mere stripling at the time).

Freddie Eastwood, Ditto with Deutch, except I didn't realise it very quickly.

Mick McCarthy should be replaced, some time during the last third of last season

I backed Michael Branch and Havard Flo for far too long.

Although I still think both were harshly treated by the managers at the time.

I convinced the Yorkshire Wolves guys to sponsor Sami Al Jaber with the thinking that we'd get some reflected glory from having the first Saudi Arabian International playing regularly in English football.

I once applauded a Darren Ferguson pass, I was wrong, he miss hit it!

I once travelled all the way to Glasgow to watch Lee Naylor play for Celtic on the strength that my mates said he was brilliant for then, they were wrong as was I for tentatively believing them.

Other than that I'm pretty much always right.

I initially took Eastwood's side in his conflict with Mick. Actually, I'm still not convinced McCarthy's attitude was a hundred percent professional, but he was evidently right to drop him.

Before I "contributed" to this forum (for want of a better word!) I had grave misgivings about Mick's appointment. In my defence, at no point did I want Ince.

Based on his first performances for England, I thought Owen Hargreaves was rubbish.

stephen ward - i slagged him off last year. But in every game i have seen him play he has proved me wrong this season.

also Mick, i thought he'd lost it but has turned it round. Fair play to the one legged wonder ;)

The only person i feel i've made a mistake with is jez moxey. I wore a tshirt with moxey must go emblazoned on the front for half a season, and to be fair, he earned it by performing brilliantly as jack haywards lacky. He's learned the role, the club and football very quickly since then and i'm proud to have him as our ceo.

I,m probably guilty of most of the above except thinking Micks appointment was a mistake. Oh and I always thought Havard Flo was 'gash'.

Karl Henry - after last season i wasn't sure if he was good enough. This season he has been awsome, especially the first 6-8 games where he was our best player. Only Foley and Iwelumo have been as consistent.
He's grown up and is starting to dictate games, he lost out to Ben Watson but he's head and shoulders above anyone in this division in his position.

Karl Henry for me as well. I seriously doubted he would be good enough for a promotion chasing side but he's proved me wrong this season.

I wished that Mick had taken the South Korea job, leaving us without him not having to pay him off and possibly with some compensation. I cursed Moxey for what I believed were reassurances given to make him stay...

There was a time in the 60's when the Wolves were a bit, just a little bit, less important for me........................;);)(leg overs and all that)!!!
I did also thinkthat the time Stan Collymore being rumoured to joining us would have been good news:confused:

PS asking Mr Litmus to be my "eyes" was misguided.......................however still made a good friend by doing so.

I was ecstatic at Glenn Hoddle's appointment
I didn't rate Andy Mutch for a while before he and Bully really rubbed my face in it
I thought Andy Gray was an albino black man
I really loved Emlyn Hughes until I found out he was a scouser
I repeatedly called for MM's ouster all throughout last season
I thought Big Chris would be cack for us
I used to resent Deutsch Wolf for his better take on all things football
I've always been curious about Visage until my wife read some of his posts and pointed out that he has teh ghey
I texted WM last season to ask "Is Jay the new Bully?"

I so wanted Martin Patching to be as good as he was in the youth team

I thought we should've retained Brian Little and not appointed Graham Turner

I thought hoddle was a good appointment

I thought Mike Bailey was rubbish, still can't see different...will I need to confess in the future

I missed a 2-2 draw with Leicester to date a girl!

Don't beat yourselves up, I've turned over a new leaf. See my post from 'loans' below.

Now's you opportunity be first get in early .....

PS Sorry Deustch please be gentle with me its my first time.

    ------

In the spirit of getting in at the ground floor and learning from the signings of Kightly, Ward (S), Iwelumo and Henry (sorry if I missed any...

Finally we've signed a keeper with some talent and potential in Shane Higgs. What a true professional, the vaste number of times I've seen him (Once in woolies) he looked good, not the finished artical but packed with potential and talent.

Who else could sit on the bench at Chel-ten-ham or somesuch week in week out and not have potential. My god another shrewd and inspired signing that I for one and been screaming for (privately) for some time.

Well done Mick, Jez, Steve, My parents and god.

I would like to add to this thread, however, such is the gift that I was born with regarding all things football, (and particularly Wolves) I feel I would be doing myself (and our lord Buddha for being gracious enough to bless me so) a mis-justice should I make up a time where by I was wrong.

Feel free to carry on though.

I joined in with the Freddy Freddy Freddy chant when he first arrived.

I cringe everytime i hear Neill Collins is in the starting line up over the stadium announcement.

I always get rid of Keogh straight away on Football Manager.

I thought Ikeme looked very dodgy against Bristol City and that he would never be good enough to be the permanent keeper.

I got a shirt with "Olofinjana" on the back.

I got a shirt with "Naylor" on the back................THEN 3 days later he left for Celtic!

I emailed Wolves last season asking for an explanation as to why MM was still manager.

    I never got a reply!

Being the Number One Poster, I'm completely as ease with my recent ( correct ) judgement of all things Wolves, though I probably should have gone for Steak and Kidney instead of Balti before the Blackpool game.

    However I dont want to miss out so I'm going to contribute this classic from our favourite Spanner Copper;

Er no Essex, looks like the Gypo is even worse than last season going by his Romario-esque 2 goals! Bring him back! Freddy and Essex!

I wanted Ince in this summer.

I predicted on here last season that Mick would get sacked after the Plymouth game (last game of last season).

I still can't join in Super Mick chants.

    However.....

    I was against Hoddle's appointment
And I always rated Jarvis ;)

I did not believe that if Lescott and Murray were fit we would have stayed in the Premiership.

I also thought Karl Henry was playing in a division to high last season. I now think he his playing in a division to low

I thought that Olofinjana would eventually come good. Thank god I'm not a betting man.

I was vehemently against the signing of Big Chris.

I thought Corica was an exciting signing at the time

i thought g hoddle was a useless blood sucking leech who didn't give a $$$$ about the club or the fans, and who treated us as a nice little earner in between sky sports jobs.

i have to admit i vastly overestimated him.

I thought Freddy was the answer.
I thought Mick was stubborn, like graft over craft and would not be flexible enough to take us up.
I cringed at the thought of Steven Ward at LB for the forest game.]
I thought Matt Murray would play for England.
I thought Robert Taylor had a good start for us and would be a good signing.
I bought my first season ticket based on the signing of Temuri Ketsbia, as I thought it was a sign we'd be exciting to watch.

$$$$ing ell every game i say something that i feel embarrased about later on when the adrenalin has gone and i've sobered up.
It's the way of the football fan, fickle and football fan sit very comfortably together.
Having said that i suppose now is as good a time as any to 'cleanse the soul' while we are 6 point clear at the top.

I thought the signing of Glenn Hoddle was one of the best appointments in our history. When I heard the news I actually texted a mate with the message 'Europe here we come'. Also got it wrong with Leon Clarke - thought he would prove all the doubters wrong and become a 20 goal a season player.

I initially thought Freddy would be a good signing, but after seeing him NOT bust a gut to get on the end of things I very soon realized he would never make a top striker.

I did think keith Lowe would be a good player.

I got very excited when we signed steve segely

I felt so angry about Mick when we beat Norwich 2-0 - he went easy on one of the worst teams I have ever seen because his mate was manager. We should have won 6 or 7 nil they were rubbish.

At one point last season I'd have rather had Eastwood at Molineux than McCarthy
After Sami Al Jaber's brief cameo (against Norwich?) I thought he'd be a great player for us.
Thought Mancienne was nothing more than a fancy name at a fashionable club and wouldn't cut it after seeing him play a couple of times for U-21s and once for QPR
Thought Kightly got his debut at Southend just because it was the club who let him go and Mick was being sentimental!
Once thought that Dean Richards and Neil Emblen could've been England's centre back pairing at the 1998 World Cup. . . . . (not for long though)
