Simple question, reading the threads the view seems to be that's what we should be aiming for, for me i'd be happy to be in the mix but wouldn't be devastated if we didn't go up.

You should always want it. There's no such thing as 'too early to go up'.

It's easy to say it'd be too early but that assumes you can get better and easily gain promotion in future if wanted, which obviously isn't really the case. The Prem years got a bit depressing towards the end but you'd hope the club would take a different approach, and I do miss being one of the big fish, being discussed and the games having some proper build up, seeing genuinely talented players down the Mol. It's the only place to be. The Championship is football with stabilisers, the aim has to be the real deal.

As long as we keep with the same ethos of bringing in young exciting talent for reasonable fees & wages I don't care where we end up really. Last thing I want to see is a £10m player on 50k a week who doesn't deserve it.

With the money you have to go up.

We will lose Sako and maybe more at the end of the season.

Even if worst case scenario we did a Derby and got humiliated every week, the finances we would have would put the club on a miles better platform than we are on now and eventually be the springboard to our long term goals.

It would require patience from our fans which I don't know if we have in us.

We want, and expect, our team to compete and win every game in the Championship. We all expect nothing less, and we all moan and gripe if this doesn't happen. Unfortunately we can't do this and then opt out of going up because "we're not ready for it".

"Not being ready for it" applies to 99% of the teams that do achieve promotion. If it happens, it happens. We can't deliberately start losing games because we look in danger of promotion.

Spot on Tring, the longer we take to get there, the harder it will be to survive, with the way things are going.

Same, although we could do with some of the money it provides.

In regards to the OP, I don't think anyone would be devastated if we didn't go up, unless it was missing out in the play off final to a last minute goal or something similar to that.

We all recognise that it is a possibility though and what a fantastic achievement it would be.

On Sunday morning whilst getting ready for the Blackburn game, I watched MOTD for the first time in nearly two years

Oh my God, it is a totally different game. The speed, the movement, it is light years ahead and this was Crystal Palarse......

I want promotion and the cash it will bring. The question is though would the fans accept promotion on the basis that it would put us on a better financial footing?

I think not. Fans would not take well to regular beatings and the high risk of relegation so would KJ survive a relegation season or would he be sacked but the funds get given to another manager?

Its a double edged sword..perhaps the question should be, if Wolves were promoted this year would you expect KJ to lose his job if we have a poor premiership season?

Of course we must go up as soon as possible. And once up look to the example set by Southampton or Swansea. Embrace the Premiership's potential to recruit and broaden our style of play. Let's not try the "tough little Championship club" playing above its weight .

I was going to set up a new thread but perhaps on here we can discuss what we ,Wolverhampton , can learn from Southampton . I was very impressed with their controlled game yesterday.

The money is promising and is really the only reason id want to go up, but you've saw how this squad can struggle, we wont last half a season in the Premiership

Learn from Southampton like someone has previously said

As long as we learn from the mistakes of last time, don't sign players on stupid money with no clauses and stick to our principals.
Burnley are doing that this season and are not being cut adrift, the fans seem pretty happy on the whole.
Contrast that with QPR, fans and players fighting amongst themselves already, worst away record ever, stupid money thrown around.

If we just missed out when we had a genuine chance of going up then I'd be gutted because we could get trapped in this nightmare league for years again.

Count me in as definitely wanting promotion this season. The longer we stay in this division with parachute payments dried up it will be harder to compete to return to the land of milk and honey.
A real no brainier for me, strive for promotion and try to win every game. Simple
    Come on you Wolves

We could and it's a weird thing to say but I think going up next season might be better.

Promotion is fantastic though isn't it? And who knows how things would pan out up there.

Of course I want promotion. I think it would be tough to stay up even if Morgan made a reasonable amount of funds available to KJ but once you are in the Prem you always have a chance. Should we be relegated we would be financially much better off. A win win situation for me.

To not want promotion seems crazy to me. It's always going to be a difficult task to stay in the PL once you get there but that applies each and every time so why do some want to almost postpone it?

Should Wolves find their way back up then those in power should know full well what's needed.

The lesson I learnt from the SJH promotion was that you can be in The Championship for 20 years and you are never going to be ready for the Premiership unless you adapt and fast.

The lesson I learnt from the Morgan promotion was get Premiership or European knowledge into the club before you spend money .

It can't come soon enough for me. Grab it with both hands when it comes along and make what you can of it. You can't "plan" for it next season or the season after, football isn't like that. Remember Southampton the season we last went up? We beat them 3-0 around Easter time at the Mol and they were absolute $$$$e. Look at them now! They didn't say 'excuse me, chaps, but I don't think we are quite ready' when the chance came. Promotion would be a real test of Morgan and Moxey -- bring it on!

If we were to get promoted, then of course you'd take it and see how we would fare at the highest level with our younger set of players..but I would fear some heavy beating week in week out..the fans would not accept that at all and KJ might lose his job and we got back to square one again with new manager etc etc..I am happy for another season in this league as things stand....we need to consolidate a lot more and gradually build up a squad of experienced and hungry players who can give it a good go at the very top..

I think it would be too early to "go up" however if the opportunity arises then you have to take it.

We're only 8 points off top of the table and with the bad run we had then it's a testament to Kenny and the team for putting us back in the hunt.

    Yes and no!

Yes as it's the place to be and will help us keep in touch with the rest finance wise.

No in that I can't see any significant investment being made if/when we get there. We're then back to wondering where the next point is coming from and worrying how many goals will be conceded from one week to the next. We also run the risk of, again, 'Big Time Charlies' arriving for a big pay day who don't really care for the club - but I guess that's the Premiership for you....

    Consolidate
    Build on what we've got
Make a go of it next year
They will be more capable next season
We will come straight back down if we go up now

Of course we want to go up. The parachute money is soon to run out and it is very easy to get stuck in the Championship for years as we know. If we fail to get promoted we will lose Sako which would be a great pity and might lose one or two more. Apart from the huge money that comes with promotion itself there is the added bonus in terms of bigger crowds, more lucrative sponsorship etc.

Yes it is a struggle whenever you go up but with the right additions we have the makings of a very decent unit. We need to make full use of the momentum from last season and go for it!

Clubs like Swansea and Southampton have shown what is possible. Why shouldn't we do something similar with a good manager and some rising stars from the Academy? Of course much will depend on the two Ms and Morgan's attitude in particular. But for the moment aim high and see how it all unravels.

Do I want it? Yes, of course.

Do I think we'll get it? I'm not that confident.

If we do, will we struggle and maybe get relegated? Probably.

Does that bother me? Playing poor football and then losing week after week does, getting relegated does. BUT. It won't be unexpected, will it? When it comes to Wolves, I've learnt to manage my expectations over the years.

I would not be happy as a fan paying my hard earned pension to watch my team not try to win matches, not try to get promoted and not try to play at the highest possible level.

With all the money floating around the 'greed league', I want my club to be part of it, so that team can be improved, we see better football on the pitch and Molineux can become the best stadium in the country.

Is that too much to ask before I kick the bucket and put into my box?

We need to get promoted asap to bridge the gap between us and the Albion. As long as we spend the money wisely whilst we're up there, then being relegated after one season isn't a disaster. Just as long as we hang onto the majority of the squad and stick with a manager and a philosophy of playing football. We have to avoid the boom and bust culture that thrives at Wolves.

Albion have consolidated after years of going up and down. They've always managed to hold their teams together and make decent management changes. Slowly building a team and a philosophy which is now keeping them in the Premier league.

This is the model to follow.

Really? Not so sure that has been the case over the past 2 years or so. Since Hodgson left they haven't really moved forward and have chopped and changed their management.

Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather be in their PL position now but don't make out that they are the perfect model to base our future on because I can't agree.
