I've watched Wolves a lot this season. After quite a few games (Coventry, Southampton, Watford, Cardiff, etc, etc) I've come away thinking: "How the hell did we win that!!". Then I've looked at the Championship table and seen us at the top and thought: "I can't believe we are better than the rest, playing like that!". I saw us completely overhauled by Reading at Molinuex, a team not good enough for the Premiership. Today I've seen an abject, woeful, pathetic performance against a very ordinary (but obviously better than us) mid table side (QPR). I can't believe I'm the only one out here who's been watching our progress this season with a certain amount of disbelief. We are just not convincing and we are most certainly not Premiership material. Birmingham and Reading are playing with zeal and confidence, we are most certainly not.
Tuesdays encounter is a vital match, nothing short of a convincing emphatic victory will do............ How confident are you?

Agree with you-but dont think any other team is yet that particularly convincing either-its a very very tightly competitive league and the table as it stands doesnt really count for that much. All we can do is try to be optimistic and accept that things are certainly overall going better so far- perhaps with a little luck at times- than most of us dared to hope for.Yes a convincing win /performance would give us all a bit more confidence but basically any win will do-and in this league may well have to for mch of the rest of the season I suspect!!

Granted it wasn't good today, but look how we bounced back after our last defeat. Blues lost there and they have a decent home record.

For me we need a forward with more pace and edge when SEB or Chris aren't looking like scoring, both Vokes and Keogh will create more chances for another striker, in front of goal I don't think they are clinical enough.

Where Mick would find another striker I'm not so sure, you can't spend big money on a forward who is likely to sit on the bench for long spells. Still a long way to go and we have a good chance to get back on track against an average Derby side Tuesday night.

It's strange I believe we have looked good in all of our games for a period, including tonight.

In the games I have seen.

Bristol City we looked really good, and deserved to win

Cardiff, we looked comfortable at the back, and deserved to win

Blackpool, we lacked movement up front at time, and Kites was out of position to often. However we were largly untroubled.

Blues we looked ok, and then really could have gone on and won it.

QPR Are a good team at home. They beat Blues and have the home form.

We are where we are because we have been the best over the last 21 games.

I'd feel alot more confident if Blues and/or Reading would $$$$$$$ up!
I do believe this will be a 3 horse race but pray we don't end up 3rd!
Feel we should and will win our next 3 games and then strengthen the central midfield in January. That will help calm the nerves.

Our away record is better than Blues and Reading but, our Home record is not.

Winning at home is what gains promotion IMO.

So I will leave you to draw your own conclusions and, perhaps, hope for a superb January transfer window.

I don't think enough has been made of only getting 1 point from 2 games AT HOME against the other 2 main contenders. However, you don't get to our points total after this many games without being the real deal IMO. We'll stay in the top 4 all season now I think, and I'd have taken that at the start of the year. Also still think there's a good chance of top 2.

says the guy who called McCarthy a $$$$$ after the Norwich games.

It $$$$es me off how pesamistic folk become after a defeat. We've massively over-acheived to date and in typical Wolves Fans style, expecatations rocket, when they really shouldn't. For an hour we haven't played well today, but how we responded shows this team has character. Arguably our most important player is back fit and that can only be poitive.

Mick needs to strengthen in January. A few astute buys will see us home. A quality midfielder, another winger and real competition for the front two.

look at Hull. Were they the best team in the championship last season? No. They are now 5th in the prem, pretty much guaranteed to stay up and likley to be in Europe next season. We are not miles better than any other team but all that matters is we are top. Last season we were putting in preformances like today every other game, now it's every 8 or 9 games, the vast majority of games we have been the better team over 90 minutes.No-one knows where we will be at the end of the season until then all we can do is concentrate on the positives and get behind our boys.

    Wolves - Won 8, Drawn 1, Lost 1
    Birmingham - Won 9, Drawn 0, Lost 2
    Reading - Won 8, Drawn 1, Lost 1.

Not much between that to be honest.

The 9 game undefeated streak was going to come to an end eventually - it's how the team react which is the important thing, last time we reacted by going 9 games unbeaten.

For some of the unconvincing wins we've had this year we've had alot of convincing and well deserved i.e forest sheff wed, ipswich, charlton, bristol, preston, burnley. The fact that when we win unconvincingly shows how far we have come and winning when not playing to your best wins you this league. We cant expect to be on top form every game but with the quality we have got in our squad someone seems to be stepping up to the plate at the right time when others arent performing as well. I think we have got nothing to worry about in the slightest. Today was disappointing but we weren't going to keep on winning forever. They are humans after all and i fully expect mick to give them a kicking up the backside and for us to bounce back from this with a decent performance on tuesday.

Although disapointed with the performance, QPR(A) is one of the toughest fixtures outside Birmingham/Reading. Jarvis and Kightly will give us the much needed balance we need. With the exception of Burnley/Blackpool(H), all of our dominant performances came with Jarvis and Kightly in the team. I'm not saying they play well all the time because that is not the case, but teams concentrate so much on them, it allows us play down the middle as well. For 50 mins today, there was no width watsoever and it was all too predictable. I want us to be on 59 pts after Blackpool and im still confident we can reach that mark. We'll bounce back!

People moaning about the home record when we've taken 25 points from 30. Jesus wept.

    Prat.

That's why they're how many points behind us? We could do with a win on Tuesday, I'll admit that but then if we don't win, I suppose we've just got to see how far the rest are behind us. We're playing better football than Brum and are better at grinding out results than Reading. We're almost half way into a devil of a season and have basically swept all before us. A reasonable run of form over the next 25 games and we'll be where we all want to be.

The fact this kind of thread pops up after one away defeat against the pre season division favourites defies belief

No, it's about equal, which means that by virtue of the fact we have a better away record, we're above them. And dropping 5 points from 10 home games isn't exactly anything to get worried about.
