Kenny apparently has stated he is happy with the squad and feels he has the necessary players to be challenging to move higher in the division. he feels he has the correct balance with the players we have, but then you wouldn't expect him to say anything else unless he was handing in his resignation would you?

The goals 'for' column suggests we are miles behind the rest of the teams around the play offs. Unless they have accouple of attacking players lined up we're going to come up short this year unfortunately.

Well do you expect him to say the squad is a bag of $$$$ and that we will be lucky to keep a clean sheet and score more than 10 goals for the rest of the season or something else negative and ruin any confidence the players have and to also tell the fans to give up hope on promotion now or any other season and to not bother buying season tickets?

If we didn't have the internet you'd all be happy, too. Spend your entire lives convincing each other everything is $$$$.

Take a look at where we've come from and where we're sitting.

There's still the loan window so I'd expect at least one more addition.

I think those that criticise Jackett's comments do him a disservice. His comments after the Bolton game demonstrate how honest he is. Most managers would have been lauding the equaliser and spirit and all that bull but he said it how it was, we lacked intensity and didn't move the ball quick enough.

He still makes decisions that I don't agree with but in the main I think he his frank, honest and good for the club.

Ideally at least a couple of improvements would have come in. They haven't, stop blubbing and $$$$ing get on with it. If we were still getting panged by 3 and 4 KJ would be out of his job. We're not. It's not ideal for him, the team, or us. That's Wolves and that's footy.

Gosh what a surprise. He himself said he wanted one new attacking player and he didn't get him. So much as I like KJ, this is nonsense. We have a -2 goal difference which is ridiculous compared to Norwich and all the teams above us. We are still a long way off and a few injuries/suspensions will soon expose the hollowness of any such words, if they have indeed been stated.

Agreed. Also, do players want to come to us..?? Is the area pleasant enough for them and their family to live in..?? If players wont come, for whatever reason, we cannot do much more than try..Johnson has gone, Clarke has gone..and people are still spitting blood..!!! We could have Messi here and still folk would moan like hell..

Oh yes, Kenny Jackett, highly respected football coach and manager who has years of extensive, first hand football experience and is highly spoke of within football circles is deluded because JOSWolf, that guy who spends his life religiously repeating worn out, panic stricken cliches on the internet has once again soiled his underwear that we haven't signed 5 players that he has never seen play.

After each window closes, the dummies are spat out by the same posters, demanding more sweeties and sweeties with better-known logos on them. We have some good, promising forwards in reserve, like Eusebio Bancessi, Jordan Graham, Ibrahim Keita and some decent promising midfielders + a loan window to me. KJ used loans to great effect 12 months ago and might do so again.

It is certainly messy up here.

What a ridiculous comment, really is a stupid throwaway comment. Sorry but it is.

People are'nt / weren't asking for much were they, FFS! It doesnt mean they want Ronaldo and Messi here, just a bit of ongoing progress and improvement where we clearly need it.

But we have ongoing progress? We're 2 points off the playoffs having been promoted from League One. We've cleared out the overpaid dross (Doyle aside) and we've kept Sako for the time being. Some people are being unrealistic in their expectations.

I hardly think it was unrealistic to expect a couple of more signings in this window.
The club themselves said we wanted several signings and it is clear as daylight where we need strengthening.

My "current" expectations of being capable of fighting for a play off spot are clearly unrealistic.

Yes 6 months ago or 12 months ago I would have been thrilled with that, but 2 years ago I would have demanded that as a minimum.

This is why a successful club can continually re-assess its position, whereas 'typical old Wolves' have a target at the start of the season, and hey ho, we are doing better than expected but lets just sit tight!

We wouldn't want to improve too quickly would we!

my prediction at the start of the season was automatic promotion and from what i have seen of much of the opposition i still think that would have been feasible. But we deal in the mediocre and try to dumb down any expectation or ambition. Aim low and succeed is still low.

Actually I use the forum nearly daily and as your one of the most active posters, I think I've reached a pretty well researched assessment of you. Three quarters of your posts are you squawking the same tired old $$$$ over, and over again.

Actually I am happy with the squad. I genuinely believe that with the addition of Afobe and keeping hold of Sako we have one of the best first 11s in this league. We also have a very strong bench. No we do not, thereafter, have an entire surplus squad of players but what is the point at this moment in time. Please explain to me the point of signing a midfield player no better than say Evans, who is consistently on the bench at the moment, meaning either the signed player or Evans gets pushed out of the match day squad. How does that benefit anyone? Realistically we were never going to sign players that will really improve our first eleven in January, it's just not generally viable. Cases like Afobe are the exception since Arsenal made the decision to sell... And we managed to pull off the signing despite I guarantee serious interest from Championship rivals! Don't see much praise from you for that.

With Clarke gone, we need another striker. Guess what, we signed one, so doesn't it make sense that we will then look to the loan window for a back up option? Your so caught up in your anger induced frenzy over a lack of signings you fail to see that we can wait two/three weeks and bring in a premier league fringe player or such like on loan. Which is the sensible option over buying crap for the sake of it. Did you think of that? Probably not, as it's called common sense.

Your prediction was unrealistic for a start.

Could it possibly be that Kenny is building a future for this Wolves team that looks further ahead than getting promoted at the first time of asking? We have come so far whilst he has been here, I would imagine that next season (assuming we don't go up) would be 'phase 3' of building on this terrific young squad that is assuming a footballing identity and pushing on for promotion next season.

People are so hypocritical, constant moaning all over this forum about the state of the modern game, too much money, lack of player loyalty, the joke managerial merry go round, football is going to $$$$, blah blah blah but still all demand instance success and god forbid should the club have some sort of long term vision that doesn't necessarily rely on back to back promotions.

    +1.

I consider myself generally on the cynical side when it comes to Wolves and for that matter life in general however I am very surprised just how negative things are on here at the moment. There seems to be an overreaction to the last 3 performances IMO where we have been poor but we have still chalked up points and we have a key player coming back.

Certainly performances need to improve from the last 3 matches but I think we have the players to do it and I can see us making a strong finish to the season. I think we will make the play offs and we will not be far away from the top 2.

I just think expectations have shifted over the course of the season as we have all realised that promotion is actually a realistic prospect, I thought a solid season finishing in mid table would have been a good season, but having seen the quality of the opposition promotion is very much attainable, well the play offs at the least.

It just appears that the club does the bare minimum every window and we haven't done enough to strengthen the squad to take that chance, Derby have grasped it with both hands and look like they could win the division, we have done relatively little. Lose Sako to injury and we are back to a lopsided side, lose Dicko and we have no striker on the bench, and most of the loan signings we make are complete flops who can't be arsed slumming it in the chump so the prospect of the loan window doesn't fill me with joy.

Expectations do shift. Like you before the season began I would have taken a strong mid table finish, now I would be a bit disappointed to miss the play offs. But I would still applaud the effort of the squad to be point of being in that position, and pushing themselves above the level that was initially expected.

Il just point out as well that Bod said his initial expectation at the START of the season was auto promotion, so I stand by that :D

What is the bare minimum in a window? Last time we were in this league we spent around 14M in the summer, a huge amount for this league. Last season we didn't spend much because we didn't need to. This summer I felt like we could have bought in the Afobe player we needed earlier. However I bring you back to my 'long term vision' point. Kenny clearly wanted to see how the team he had assembled to smash league one apart would kick on this year. Personally I think it has done us all proud, so far, and we should be roaring behind these boys who have dragged this club up from the gutter. Unfortunately people would rather moan that they don't win every singe game.

Agree with you about our previous luck in the loan window though.
