Win. At the very most, 17 more wins will see us home as champions.

We've not been in this position since 1988-89, that's a whole generation unused to consistency and ultimate victory. For the first time in many people's lives, we're on the verge of achieving something magnificent - with a very special team. And the best thing about it: we're not taking anything for granted. This season we're coming across as humble and honest and genuine. I have to say, it feels bloody good.

We're still not getting the credit we deserve, but secretly, we don't care. We're still not as strong as blues and reading and, while we may care, I'd not swap a single one of ours for one of theirs. We're still regarded by many as a bunch of chokers, we may protest, but I reckon many of us are happy for it to continue - underestimate us at your peril. For years we've had it rammmed down our throats that we're fickle and undeserving of success, yet we've stuck with MM while our peers and neighbours have whinged and moaned and demanded change.

From here on in, it's simple: more of the same, on and off the pitch. This has been the year that WWFC finally regained it's pride, it's up to us to carry it on. Halfway there. Those who attend - you lucky sods - get behind them, we can do it. Come on.

*warning: drinking home brewed bia hoi on the penultimate evening of term may result in overly emotional posts.

**saigonwolves is, in no way, taking anything for granted. There's still massive potential for disaster.

  2. This season I find as close to 1976/1977 as any since. Has any saddo mapped that season into 3pts/win 1pt/draw for comparitive purposes versus games played?

Actually, I did have a look when I went for my constitutional after tea:eek:

The 76/77 season was 42 games long, but after 23 games we had W11 D8 L4
giving us 34points or 45 points in today's money.
We finished that season W22 D13 L7 giving us 57pts or 79pts on 3 for a win (or 1.88 pts per game)

Surely you mean 41 points in today's money.

Edgmond step away from the "cut & paste" facility. Same post on 2 Threads. :) Let folks get carried away if they want to.

But as I stated to Cooper J on Saturday (from a not getting carried away scenario) "Step away from those chickens, let someone else work out their number." :p

Doesn't strike me as that close. We don't do DRAWS. How are we gonna get 13 draws in 42 games?

12 wins for me as well. We have 11 home games left and a superb home record only losing points to Blues and Reading this year. Looking extremely good but we still need to earn the right to beat the 'lesser teams'.

By 14th March when we play Charlton at home (16 games from now) then 12 wins (or the equivalent) is feasible. That's 89 points with seven games to go. Even with only another three wins and a couple of draws that's 100 pts. Its looking good as long as we can hold our form in the next month in particular and keep the momentum going. Reading and Blues will track us all the way but would have to come up with an unbelievable run to get to 100 pts or even into the mid 90s. Holding Reading (or not) on Jan 27 could be the focal point of our season.

I personally think Reading and Birmingham are in deep trouble. The pack is closing in on them more than us and they play each other at the weekend. The pack could be in sniffing distance of them by Saturday evening. This would be bad news for at least one of them and the teams below would be on a roll. We just have to keep winning and let the others fight it out. We are in pole position and we should not let it slip. We have proved we can do it and certainly we have not faltered all season.

One game at a time, chaps.

We've only just avoided relegation. Our next target is to get to 76 points to earn a play-off place. Once we've done that we can look at an automatic spot. Milestones, see.
