... an occasional series where you can post music that reminds you of football seasons long gone, and especially of Wolves teams of the past. Here's mine... this brings back the 1958-9 season, the last time we were the top of the tree.

I give you the Kalin Twins!

There was a reason why The Kalin Twins were one-hit wonders!

I think it was circa 95, PWEI sponsored a match v Grimsby (please correct me if I’m wrong)
They had a full page advert in the program. I don’t hear anything off this album too often, but when I do it takes me back to Molineux.

This reminds me of the season we last won the League Cup (1979-80) and particularly winning 1-0 at Old Trafford thus completing the double over Manure that season!

1967-68 The Move... to be precise, 30 September 1967, the first day of Radio One, this was the first record played at 7.00 am. I was up early and on my way to Faulkland Street, Don Everall coaches, for Sheff Wed v Wolves. It finished 2-2...

Just for completeness, this song reminds me of the Molineux game in that double over Manure. IIRC it was Andy Gray's home debut, and he and King John scored in a 3-1 win. Gary Numan was at No.1 that week with his one and only solo No.1 (and it was only at No.1 for that one week).

Don't hear it very often at all but this defo brings back memories of the Dave Jones era/promotion push pre-Cardiff:

Please can we not link something so perfect with that bloody club?! :D

For me that song has to be kept for the distant future, when after winning his tenth major trophy at Wolves, Nuno Espirito Santo calls an end to his Molineux career and at Molineux 60000 Wolves fans bid their farewells to the man who took us from the darkness and brought us back into the light

Villa can have this just for last summer...

I agree 1970, was a great time to be a Wolves fan, and if you look carefully at this clip you can see a young George Berry in the audience

"Hey Baby!" by DJ Ötzi was actually a cover version of a song that was written in 1959 (the last year we won the English league), and a million-selling hit for its co-writer, Bruce Channel (pronounced Shan-ell), in the US in 1962. Channel's version also reached No.2 in the UK charts in 1962. The best video I can find of Bruce singing (or rather miming) his big hit is here, but unfortunately someone stuck some stupid letters and numbers in the middle of the picture for the length of the clip.

This one always sticks in my mind as being played at Maine Road when Bully scored the only goal, still one of my favourite games - they hammered us all game and Bully was immense.

Yeah, I remember the Bruce Channel version, I was 14 at the time. It was played by Tony Blackburn on this morning's SOTS.

I was going to wonder out loud why Tony Blackburn is still working given that his career as a DJ started nearly 55 years ago, but I discover looking at Wikipedia that he was born the same year as my Dad, who is also still working, so I won't. I guess that being a radio DJ isn't really like work that us ordinary folk need to do for a living anyway, so Blackburn can probably go on for as long as takes his fancy.

Brian Matthew must have been nearly 90 when he packed it in. He was TB's predecessor on SOTS!
