Tragic. They should give him a good job off the pitch with a handsome salary out of kindness.

They mention an abnormal ECG, but no mention as to whether he had an echo or EP studies. If he didn't then someone is in the clarts.

Also I hate the way the media uses the terms heart attack and cardiac arrest as if they are the same thing..

Its a tragic story for the lad, but I have to wonder why its taken so long for him/hos family to decide to pursue a legal action.

Just today's "where there is a claim there is blame" and "no win no fee ambulance chasing" culture. I'm sorry for the lad but sometimes stuff happens and nobody is really to blame IMO.

Agreed, instead of maybe stepping up & being a spokesperson etc he's gone down what I consider personally to be a dirty route.

I'd be surprised if he was able to take any position if he has suffered 'catastrophic brain damage'.

Sad for the kid, but not Spurs' fault.

Just on a side note I notice it says Fabrice Muamba heart stopped for 78 minutes, before he was resuscitated... You can be dead for over an hour and you can survive?!

Maybe I'm missing something here but there are occasions in life when things just happen unexpectedly no matter what's done.

It's a great shame the lads career is over and he no longer had the chance to be a future football star but it is possibly, sadly, just one of those things that no one could have predicted or done anything about?

I agree, but nowadays whatever happens and for whatever reason, someone has to take the blame. It's a sad state of affairs

Agreed. These adverts always making out there's someone to blame don't help but that's just my view.

There is no doubting that on occasions there is blame to be apportioned and if someone is negligent fair enough but likewise, and as already said, some things just happen unexpectedly no matter what.

For all todays modern technology, medicines, treatments and advice it happens that no matter what is done it won't guarantee a damn thing.

May be Spurs fault if they failed to act appropriately to an abnormal ECG.... I would like to seed a copy of it!

Would you expect a Dr to miss ECG evidence of an MI? Or any other life threatening condition. It happens, but you would hope it does not. The key phrase in this instance is that the ECG was seen to be abnormal, what is then important is what was done next as as response to that.

Seems to me a it's a case of the doctors either being rubber stampers or missed something, either way they seem screwed.

There seems only way out for them, unless this can happen right out of the blue with no early testing showing the likely hood of a problem, like most on here we are not heart testing specialists (apart from OldGold who seems to know a bit).

Simple it was neglect , however depends on what capacity the doc who misdiagnosed was working for Spurs.
If spurs are deemed responsible 5-7 million is nothing in relation to potential earnings to a premier league player over a 20 year career.
