I've had a email from the FL (don't know why!) asking me to nominate a player from my club to be in the FL team of the Decade.
I've thought about this but no one really springs to mind?! Any serious/sensible suggestions out there? Also if any others get this email then we could all vote for the same player? It would be good to get a Wolves player in the side.

Richard Stearman is the first player that springs to mind

Is it of the last 10 years or from 2010 onwards?

If it's the former, the only one I can really think of is SEB. Has anyone else won the Championship Golden Boot in successive years?

    Last decade, how about SEB?

Seriously? He's been decent this season but in general for us he's been a mistake ridden liability at the back.

If you were to name any Wolves player it would have to be SEB for me, if it is the last decade.

Jody Craddock if it's over the last 10 years.

Stand corrected Perton, I was thinking of this season, not the last decade, spot on with SEB

    Probably SEB or Kightly.

If it's the last decade or back to 2005, SEB should probably the striker in the team.

Got to agree that of the current decade (although we've only had four years & 49 days of it) you'd have to say SEB but if it's the past 10 years then I'd have to plump for Lescott (cheeky vote for Matt Murray might also be an option -- only played two full seasons for us but we reached the Play-Offs in both of them)

Given that our only Football League seasons this decade have been the relegation season, the promotion season, and this one, I'd have to say that Bakary Sako had been the standout across all three.

It's the best team over the last decade to mark the 10th anniversary of the FL Awards.
I didn't even know there was a FL Awards!!!!!
I think SEB is a good call. Wasn't he banging in the goals for Plymouth before he joined us? I'm sure there are stronger bets in the striking dept but he'd be in with an outside shot?

SEB also won the Football League Player of the Year award for 2009. Kightly won the Young Player of the Year award in 2008.

SEB is the only serious one we could nominate. He ripped the league apart two years in a row.

Tried to put a team together, a bit difficult as many only have a couple of good seasons then usually move up.

    J.Speroni
    ???-W.Morgan-A.Williams-C.Davies
    M.Kightly-L.McGugan-A.King-P.Whittingham
    S.Ebanks-Blake-K.Phillips

Really stuck for another defender, tbh Stearman has a case as he had a few good seasons at Leicester before us and then a good loan spell at Ipswich too.

Clyne, Bale, Jagielka? Any of those work...

Wanted to pick players that have played a few seasons at that level, Jagielka only had 2 seasons since it was rebranded and whilst Clyne's had a few more I'd say he only really had a good season or so at that level.

The thing is if a player is half decent he will, by definition, only have a handful of seasons at the 2nd level before hopefully going on to make it in the Prem? On that basis, and that SEB won the golden boot 2 years running I'll vote for him. I'll do it tomorrow in case someone else has a better nomination.

Ah, well in that case, it's got to be SEB in my opinion. Two Championship golden boots and a Championship player of the year award means he'd merit a nomination.

If it's of the last decade as in last 10 years - the only real candidate can be SEB since 2005.

If that's the case let's all nominate SEB and get him in the side?

  32. MM, SEB at a push Kightly but I think he was more a pleasant surprise as he came from Grays in none league, team of the year definitely in the promotion season but of the last decade im not so sure.

Had a good loan spell at Watford and got promotion at Burnley last season as well as his time with us when he was by far and away the best player outside the PL.

    SEB is a good shout.
No keeper for me though comes close to Matt Murray at his best. He was outstanding in Mick's first season.
How many keepers win Championship player of the year?

I voted for SEB but as we only got 1 vote I could not support Matt Murray, but what a keeper he was?!
