Our goals tally in an ordinary league is pathetic.

On paper,we are assembling a decent side, but Kenny's desire to avoid defeat rather than actually win the game is affecting our approach.

Tempo too slow and centre midfield way too deep.

If we cannot throw off the shackles,we'll do nowt.

Don't disagree with much of that but it's pretty understandable following our run of results in November that the priority was to tighten up and become harder to beat.

Today our set-up was more suited to an away game and would have benefitted from the presence of Sako and a more creative Number 10. However, we couldn't drop Edwards on recent form and it was probably a week too early to start Golbourne.

No doubt about it though. We have to find a way to break down and beat sides who have been struggling. Failure to do so and we can forget about the play-offs.

Only my 3rd game of the season, so don't know how they have been doing. But I agree if we have to do all the pressing then we are struggling. Young House might be a promising defender, but he did very little for pushing the side forward. We were much better when Golborne came on. I think we lack pace and drive from the central midfield. Price and McDonald are both too defensive. You can see why this side is better away from home when we can hit teams on the break.

I fancy us to win away games rather home ones at present. No clue how to play when opponents sit deep and park the bus.

All the build up suggested we were playing Afobe and Dicko up front today.

Both Dicko and Afobe must start at Bolton along with RVLP.

It is not just the match today that makes this so frustrating as it comes off the back of a lucky win last week. Jackett had a week to prepare his team for the alamo approach.
Their centre backs appeared to be real heroes as we did not have the nous to break them down.
No point in having pace in the side if you dont use it effectively. It seems we needed something different and our manager was not up to this.
I wouldn't mind so much if Kenny still used the work in progress speak but when he talks of even automatic promotion this is almost Saunders speak.

Really? On the basis of what
Dicko looks utterly uninterested and Afobe's movement was pathetic.

We have such a fickle fan base. One point is better than none.

Why are people giving Jack Proce $$$$ on Twitter? Totally unjustified.

They have to start though Stu. Who else would play?
Henry looks poor and subbed again today and Jacobs on the bench but never gets on.
    Hope Lingard is announced.

It never helps when you are missing by far and away your best and most creative player.

Price has been generally very good since coming in and has really helped to tighten up our leaking defence. The only issue with that is both him and McDonald naturally sit deep, which wouldn't be such a problem if we had greater movement and guile ahead of them. Sako's return will help massively with that (and will also spark Dicko back into life - he just isn't the same player without him) and hopefully Lingard will contribute too.

We need a creative number 10, I know he's scored goals lately but Edwards simply doesn't do enough to create chances which is key in that position.

And we need another winger, yet again we surrendered the left wing for the best part of half of the game.

It is certainly a problem in home games as both Price and McDonald are playing far too deep.

Worst player on the pitch again.

Why he has so many chances and Jacobs cant even get in front of Edwards when we were crying out for a bit my guile is mystifying.

Henry was far from poor today. Sorry mate but that's a daft comment.

Playing two up front as we did today who don't move and want the ball means the midfield have no one to pass to. Dicko was sulking and Afobe very mediocre.

Henry was arguably our man of the match, certainly our best in the first half, which admittedly in both cases isn't saying much at all

Edwards doesn't get any stick for me. No worse than anyone else first half then shoehorned to left midfield second? Our team was so unbalanced it is untrue.

Ridiculous if poeple are giving Price $$$$, people who clearly have no clue about football, Mcdonald is the midfielder who's responsible for providing creativity not Price.

Likewise amazed at yours NWW but lets not fall out over it.

He has no pace at all and cannot play left side and are happy with him for a 20 min cameo on the right but he shouldn't be first choice as appears a lot of the time with KJ.

CM is the main issue for me.Not necessarily the personnel....more the set up.

At times we almost play with 4 CB's.

Shows how much we miss Sako as I thought RVLP had a decent enough game today.

We needed width to stretch them and it didn't happen and expect that will be the blueprint now for most teams who arrive at Molineux so we have to adapt and understand how to break it down.

The first half was like a practice match !

No tempo and no movement. I'm annoyed at Dicko too as I felt he wasn't interested.

    Lingard hopefully will help!

    Sako was missed hugely today

So what would you say are McDonald's and Prices' roles?

For me Price is the one that screens the back four, links them to our more creative players, fills in where needed when attacking and provides the option to rebuild an attack. That would mean that McDonald is more responsible for providing a secondary source (after the attacking midfielder) for creating opportunities through the middle and I'd expect him to provide an option in and around the box adding an extra attacking body in spells where we are attacking (ideally offering a shooting opportunity for the team from outside of the box). That's how I'd view the two roles and for me there's one area where the midfield is excelling and one where it's deficient.

If Mcdonald was supposedly the defensive minded of the two in struggling to see how he gets a game but that's just my opinion.

You're thinking far too rigidly. Karl Henry got slated for playing the defensive role. Is it now ok?

They need to contribute both and today Price was guilty of too many lofted balls.

The points about playing against a team who put so many men behind the ball and then compete constantly are correct. It is difficult for anyone, granted.

But Jackett's team this season have tended to be conservative, especially in the first half of home games, in committing resources forward. It has become a much deeper issue for this team as so much emphasis has been given to retaining structure and organisation. The players are visibly unwilling to take any risks in terms of running at men, running into space and so on. When Sako is absent, that problem just becomes even more painfully obvious.

The other issue is including Edwards in the team. He has done well, in terms of goals in recent weeks of course, but he limits the team's options to a very large degree. He cant take people on, tends to lose control due to poor technique and so on. All limits we have seen for many years now. Jackett sticks with him as he is well-liked, good for morale and a hard worker who generally makes life difficult for the opponents. But the team unfortunately cannot progress with him as a regular.

Henry man of the match? I have heard it all, he was as poor as the rest of them, Macdonald is playing miles too deep and looks for the easy option all the time, Van La Parra just needs to go at the bloke and cut out this fancy flick routine he keeps trying, Dicko looks lost without Sako
Afobe disappeared after the break, and what was the point of Doherty for Iorfa??
Why he cant just take Edwards off when it isnt working i dont know, we desperatley need a left winger and have known for months that Sako was out, and yet 20 odd days later, he still hasnt been replaced, poor from the recuitment team IMO.
Lack of tempo is killing us.
But at least we didnt lose!!!

All three, macdonald, price, henry were rubbish.
Played so deep, so slowly, hardly amy effort to link up.
I felt sorry for Afobe, he had to go chasing the ball do much.
Hause wasnt up to much, but Goldberg yet again was back to his ild trivks of being sucked to far into the penalty area.
Stearman was ok, Batth was poor, hesitant yet again.
Dont know what Iorfa did wrong but didnt think much of Doherty when he came on.
    Dicko seemed to be sulking.
Why cant they break at speed just for once.
Get the ball, pass sideways, pass back etc etc
No wonder teams come here and let us have possession, we dont do anything with it.
    So frustrating

    Dicko was sulking IMO too.
