I just watched PMQ’s .A Labour MP got up and said her local team Millwall Lionesses won their 4th Round match and the prize money was a mere £2,000.She went on to say that comparable winners in the Men’s game received £180,000.She said pressure should be put on the FA to ensure parity just like at Wimbledon.
Does she not realise that both tournaments have separate external sponsors who fund this governed by market forces? The games aren’t played on the same ground on the same day unlike Wimbledon where the prize money is governed and paid out by the LTA as a result of ticket sales and not tournament sponsors ,and whether she likes it or not there is no comparison between the two tournaments in the Men’s and Women’s games.

There isn't even parity at Wimbledon, the men play best of 5 whilst the women play best of 3 for the same money

I went for a kick around with my friends last week.... my team won, and didn't get any prize money at all. How grossly unfair....

Simple, let women's teams in the original FA Cup. And let women join men's teams. Then close down the sexist women only teams.
    Everyone's happy then.

Sky keep forcing women pundits upon us but won’t show coverage or buy any for female football

    Wonder why

Would equality extend to the price of tickets by any chance? Last year the women's final was £15 for adults, £5 for OAPs and students, and kids were free. I hope the MP would push for the men's to be the same, or will tickets for the Women's final be increased?

Plus, of course, hardly anyone goes to most if not all of these matches.

Mixed teams and shared dressing rooms. It's the only way to go if we want true equality

Pure market forces at work. It's not discrimination, it's supply and demand.

Simple really, less people watch women's football on TV, less people go to women's games. It's nowhere near as lucrative for sponsors, which means less money. Not hard to understand, but it is apparently for an MP!

I know right, feel like I should be sticking up for my fellow girls, but really what everyone's saying is true, you can't even come close to comparing men's and women's football. Don't get me wrong there's been massive changes and improvements in the last few years, but it's still nowhere near. To even suggest there should be equal money involved is crazy.

Have you seen how many are in the grounds? Looks like a group of people who were out for a walk and just stumbled into the stadium. I also read a while ago that they get less than 1m viewers for an 11pm slot on BBC2, that's unbelievable taking into consideration the thousands of people who fall asleep and leave BBC2 on.
