I would love to see these idiots chucked out of the FA Cup. The way their manager has acted has been disgraceful. They will have to play their 2nd round tie with Chesterfield for a 4th time after the replay was abandoned.

It all started on the 29th of November when the game was called off at half time due to heavy fog with Droylsden leading 1-0. Their manager has fuming saying it only got called off because the little side was winning. The fact was the ref could not see a thing.

Then It came out that the Chesterfield assistant manager was racially abused by a couple of fans. (mainly younger fans who dont normally go to watch the club but come out for the bigger matches according to a few Droylsden regulars).

Then comes the controversial 2-2 draw when the visitors protested furiously when Chesterfield's Jack Lester lobbed the keeper from a throw-in after Droylsden had put the ball out of play. If you watched the goal you could tell Lester didnt meen it. But all hell broke lose with the Droylsden manager running up to the Chesterfield manager before being told to $$$$ off, Pushing a shoving on the benches and on the pitch. The home side then allowed Steve Halford to walk unchallenged into their half to tap the ball in for 2-2.

There has been a war of words between the clubs and managers during the build up to last nights replay. With Chesterfield winning 2-0 with 20 mins to go it finally looked like it was game over and there would be no more arguements and Chesterfield would be joining round 3. Until the floodlights "failed".
So game called off and they go again next week.

The manager looked and sounded a right turd, the sort you see in Sunday League football oh too often. I hope Chesterfield stuff them in the 5th game because it is bound to be abandoned again because of snow/hail,sleet or a plague of locusts.

Quotes from a Chesterfield message board.

"It was reported that a chap trying to fix a fault in the club bar had accidently knocked the lights out"

"The lights were going on and off all round the ground all night..... The floodlight failure was bound to happen"

"Someone should have told the electrician to just do what was needed then. It was an "accident" waiting to happen by the sounds of it, something that should have been left until tomorrow when nothing so crucial was at stake"

All sounds a bit dodgy to me. Tey way their chairman and manager have acted over the last few weeks it wouldnt surprise me if they booked in an electrician to knock the lights out if things were not going well.

  4. The Droylsden manager's on Setanta News now. What a complete $$$$ - resorting to slagging off the Chesterfield manager, and his behaviour after the first game and during the second game was absolutely disgraceful!!

Sometimes you need a little bit of 'playing the victimised underdog' to wind up your players in situations like this. And characters like him are good for football. Up to a point. Unfortunately, that point has long been left in the distance.

Not suprising really for a club from that hellhole part of Manchester.

Fingers crossed they'll get smashed by Chesterfield in the next replay.

Bearing in mind the Droylsden assistant manager of the last seven years is black, it's very odd that these racist buffoons have chosen Droylsden as the club to latch themselves onto.

There are some very friendly football clubs in that part of the world. Ashton United and Stalybridge Celtic to name but two are amongst the most welcoming clubs you'll find.

Sure, there are some dodgy looking areas but that's true of all cities in this country.

The chairman at Droylsden is the manager! He performs both roles!

The Player in question is 2 goal hero Sean Newton.

Imagine if this story line had featured in Dream Team? I would have stopped watching after the 2nd game

    EDIT
it seems that Droylsden thought the ban would be for the boxing day game. But then one of their matches got stopped due to the flood lights going out and that match got replayed before boxing day with them being unaware the suspension was bought forward.

Crazy if true but justice looks set to be served.

    He scored both goals.

What im finding hard to understand is that he picked up his 2nd booking on the 9th it comes into play 7 days laters, Surely they had a game between the 17th and 23rd?

I simply cannot believe that the club secretary didn't have prior knowledge of this. I would have assumed that The FA would have written to the club to inform them of the suspension immediately upon receiving the referee's report.

Doesn't show Droylsden in a good light at all.

The FA informed Droylsden of the suspension on the 10th and on the 14th it was accepted by the club.

The question is why wasnt he banned he banned for the game v Tamworth on the 20th? Could it be that due to Droylsden taking til the 14th to accept the suspension the 7 day rule kicked in on the 14th.

Surely clubs cant delay a suspension can they?If they can maybe they wanted him banned for Boxing day instead and then the FA cup replay got added into the fixture list and they simply forgot.

Or maybe it takes longer for a 5 yellow card suspension to kick in in the non league.

As I understand it, 5 yellows is a one game ban commencing 14 days after the 5th caution was picked up. Not sure how it works in the pro game, but non leauge it's been that way for as far as i remember.

Well that seems to settle it then. The club had ruled Newton out of their boxing day game as it was their 1st match once the suspension kicked in, But then a new fixture was added on the 23rd (the day the suspension started 14 days after he picked up his 5th booking)

Its 7 days in the Football League as Kightly picked up his 5th booking v Doncaster and will miss the Blackpool game.

The only hope they have now is to claim that they couldn't read the letter from the FA in the dark!

The Club Secretary is to blame, unless over-ruled by the maniac at the helm (Manager/Chairman).

There's no way that the manager would overrule him on something like this.

I believe the club secretary had the same happen to him when he was the secretary for Hyde. (I don't know this for a fact, just what i was told)

I have spoken to my brother who is secretary for a non league club, he said if he had put his club in that position he'd fall on his sword, which is fair comment.
