I am concerned that a degree of panic is setting in with the run-up to the transfer deadline. Trials of average players, being linked with the same, all have the stamp of a desperate need to bring someone in for the sake of it. It is the all more frustrating as it seems the team is one the edge of a potentially productive spell. We have just had a nine game period since the win over Sunderland, with extremely close-fought games, and good performances. These performances have then picked up even more with the arrival of Frimpong. With only 7 points from the games, the results dont look brilliant, even if the run of games has included 4 out of the top 5, but it has been clear for everyone that the team has begun to come together.

In a situation like this, it is imperative to hold your nerve above all else. Find that extra few % out of the players and tactics to win half your games, rather than repeating what McCarthy has called heroic failures. Dont disrupt the team with too many changes, dont undermine the unity of the squad with too many meaningless additions. We have a full complement of keepers, defenders, wingers and strikers. For the next three games or so, McCarthy will have to go with Frimpong, Milijas and Edwards with Guedoria as backup. That is not a bad choice at all.

Panicking might be a positive, let's face it according to some on here McCarthy is $$$$ at everything therefore Mick's panicking could turn out to be inspired.

To panic would be to sack Mick.

He's kept us up the last two seasons, I have absolute faith that he will do it again. Get behind him and the lads, they haven't let us down yet have they?

I'm a MM fan but struggle to feal optimistic. Out of the last 19 games we have 10 points and out the next 16 we need 23.

I hope your right...I've been hit by doubt since the Villa game and even contemplated prayer...not the done thing for an atheist but I will do anything for the Wolves!

  13. Excellent post wolvesjoe, and with it you make a very good point.
If we do get players in just for the sake of it, and for whatever reason, then at this moment in time we cannot afford to disrupt the team by doing so. It's no good getting unproven players at this level, or players that need too much time to adjust unnecessarily.

All players will need a game or two to settle no matter who they are. But taking a chance at this stage of the season would be far to risky on unproven players at this level. What we need in my opinion is a proven striker and defender that can fit into the team with little, or minimal interruption to what we have.

Frimpong is the perfect example of the type we should be going for, whether loan or permanent. We’ve proved we can get that type, so we should be trying to repeat it. He has been somewhat of a minor revelation since his arrival, and has seemingly fitted into the team causing very little disruption. What we need is two more of the same, we are in no position to take chances, if the type we need are not available then leave as is, and get on with it.
