Please note from last night's Derby v Rotherham match report:

"Goals from loan signings Tom Ince (2) and Darren Bent dented Rotherham's bid to haul themselves away from the relegation places.....Bent has six goals in seven appearances.....

Maclaren: "Rotherham played with a fierceness and a tempo that we didn't match for an hour. But fortunately we had a good bench with people who can come on and change a game and that's what happened".

"The equaliser came after Jesse Lingard, signed on loan from Manchester Utd during the transfer window, made a powerful run down the left before delivering a low cross cleverly squeezed in by Bent at the near post."

That's four goals from Ince in two games I think.

Without the three loanees mentioned above would Derby be sustaining their promotion push so well? I very much doubt it.

Meanwhile we wait (eternally) for the 'right' players....until it is too late.

Too right Goldeneyed- had we been as active and ambitious and keen, we may have acted like this- Imagine a Wolves team now with those 3 loanees.

It would have put 3-5000 on the next home gate.

Now I would have loved to have seen any of these 3 down the Mol, but none of us really know (unless some on here know otherwise) if any of them were approached, we may have enquired but they may have turned us down, and you can't blame em Derby are a much bigger draw than us, sadly

We were in for Lingard. He (understandably) chose Derby.

we can only start signing players on loan now who will last for entire season (playoffs included)

Derby signed before this meaning likes ince, lingaard, bent will miss playoffs should they miss out on automatic I believe?

got few extra games out of them in league which could be vital but imagine we signed super striker and found out he would miss playoffs due to us signing him to early

on other hand you need get in the playoffs to begin to have that debate!!!

That may be right looking at this in isolation, the broader question is why does it appear we regularly fail to sign our prime targets. This of course assumes that the signings achieved since last May do not represent our prime objectives. If, indeed, they do then I guess it leads to other questions about the management of the club.

Ince, Lingard and Bent wont miss the play offs as they are window to window loans.
That is the advantage of loan signings in the transfer window which we as usual failed to utilise.

Without those two players they'd have been much closer to us, they've won/rescued them about 7/8 points already.

I put this on the match thread last night that it was funny how nobody mentioned Bent or Ince when they were on loan at Brighton or Forest being stand out players. Derby are just a different team.

I can't understand KJ's thinking, why not get rid of Jacobs on loan if possible & get somebody else in who may have a positive impact because he's a wasted space at the moment. Even a youth player would be a start, look at Clough at Bolton.

The Jacobs situation is strange. We all know who is a wasted sub as he never gets a chance.
You may as well put Eusebio or Graham on the bench and use their pace against tiring defences.
I can almost guarantee will be back to the rubbish three defenders on the bench, on Saturday, for a home game against Rotherham!

Tell me about it, especially if Afobe & Dicko start our impact players are Edwards, Henry & a full back. It would be nice to see KJ gamble for once, I've watched a number of the academy lads play & there would be nothing wrong with throwing them on for 10 mins at 0-0 or 2-1 down.

We had no chance of getting ince, bent or lingard once Derby were interested. Give it up and move on for crying out loud!!!

Maybe we didn't, Ashley, but there are other players to go for apart from those three and we got nothing!

Totally agree. Three defenders on the bench is very poor, even in away games, in my opinion.

That's because KJ still doesn't know what a strike-force is and wonders why there is a lack of goals

Ince would of been a good signing for us, don't know if we could of afforded his wages but he's better than both Parra and Henry..

Ince was an obvious player to go for. Improves wide options and could play No.10. Right age. Go for permanent in the summer. But no our club never even contemplated it I would guess and now he is lost forever probably. We always opt for the second rate and then wonder why we are treading water in 8th instead of being in the top three where we could have been.

Really don't understand how Jacobs has not been given a chance for the entire season in the central position. He was absolutely quality last season. Really strange.

I still think he has something to offer there

It is strange but Edwards is beloved of managers because of his work rate and that somehow blinds them to most of his other failings. He is a good sub but will never have the skills needed for the vital No.10 position. If KJ has decided Jacobs is not up to it then he needs to get him out on loan and invest in some quality in this position. The fact that he hasn't is a big black mark as far as I am concerned. And the failure not to bring in a decent third striker also very poor.

It has to come down to KJ in the end unless he really is being pressured by Moxey and Morgan not to spend a penny more this season. These kinds of mistakes and caution will lead KJ down the slippery road to the sack if he is not careful. Its all been too casual this season on the issue of strengthening with the same old line about we are always looking to strengthen blah blah. That no longer fools anyone except the most naive.

The one thing no one seems to get is the player has the choice to go out on loan to where he chooses and Derby who are battling for Automatic while we are outside the play offs it's a no brainer for any player.

He's looked way out of depth this season in The Championship I can see why Derby got shot plus his poor time keeping hasn't helped his case either.

Fine but then you change things, get someone else in on loan who is better. You just don't sit there depending on a very limited Edwards, watching your team struggle again and again to make anything happen in attack. Poor management.

I've said it before the plan isn't for promotion this season ! If it happens I'm sure they'll accept it with both hands. This season is about consoladation.

Way out of his depth when? He's started 3 league games this season, all of which were on the left wing. He's not been given a chance at all.

Good points we8wba but at least Derby have done business which should at least get them to the play offs and maybe even auto promotion which you allude to as such in your last comment.

    Wolves meanwhile have.................................?

On the flipside they could just provide the impetus to make a top two finish thus bypassing the Play-offs

Very true and whatever the situation ends up for them they are at least making a damn good effort of trying to reach the PL. Wolves don't really seem bothered about making an effort to reach the play offs?

Could somebody please fill me in on why Jacobs is so out of favour.
He was excellent last season and has the ability to dribble with the ball which hardly any of the other players in the squad can do.What is this about timekeeping? Can anyone elaborate why he is never used or given a chance

Excellent a division lower but not quite the same this season. Kind of explains why Derby let him go (to us)

Tom Ince would've been an upgrade on Sako - Derby Sign him
Graham Dorrans would've been a BIG upgrade on Edwards - Norwich sign him
Darren Bent would've been an upgrade on our current forwards - Derby sign him

This is why these sort of teams have a chance of going up while we don't.

Don't understand it either. How can anyone say he's not up too it at this level when he has not been given a single chance in the position he excelled in last season? He's quite obviously not a winger so the fact he hasn't done a lot in that position doesn't rub with me.

Should have either got rid and replaced or given him a chance. How many times has been an unused sub this season? What's the point

Somethings obviously not right. How he can't get in this starting line up ahead of Edwards for tge majority of the season sums things up for me. I just wish KJ could come out and say why Jacobs is so unused. His talents are far superior to Edwards and at a time when we are crying out for a bit of creativity he still can't get a look in. Wouldn't surprise me if there are some deep rooted problems that KJ must keep out of the supporters knowledge. Just doesn't make any sense to me. I would love to see Jacobs at No.10 dribbling at speed at opposition defences. Wonder if any Derby fans know why he was bombed out of there so quick. Bloke at work says that he was really surprised Derby let him go. Maybe he's just got a really poor attitude. Would love KJ to be truthfull when asked about players. I suppose thats not the modern way of doing things in the media. Would be so refreshing for a manager/coach/wotever to just come out and say it as it is.

If Kenny doesn't want him not an issue, the problem is the wasted spot on the bench.
