Hi all, not contributed before but thought this comment from the Leicester fans was interesting. Been said before, but if he can fit he could be pushing Edwards/Jones in due course IMO.

Davies - 8 (probably would be a 9 if he was on for 90 mins) - MoM - quality - made all the difference to the midfield when he came on; tigerish (got booked), skillful, quick and decisive - sign him quick Nige before Wolves realise how good he is !

Quality player, always has been. Just needs to sort his head out and he will be a starter for us, let alone those inbreds in Leicester.

Far better than Jones and Edwards on form imo.

Whisper it, but he may yet be the player we thought he could be. He may be the new 'signing' we're looking for in the transfer window too!

We won't need to sign a central midfielder if he can get himself sorted out IMO.

Isn't that why we sent him out on loan in the first place?

It's a good sign that he's coming through matches unscathed as well, let us hope these injuries are finally behind him and we'll have a fit Davies raring to go come January. What a player to bring off the bench, and well worth a start if he makes the right impression at Leicester, in training and substitute appearances!

Quite impressive considering he's is'nt even seen as fit enough to start! I remember him play against Burnley a couple of seasons ago and i'm sure he was played wide right....perhaps he could come in and cover Kites when he firing on all cylinders?

Maybe not. We have made an inquiry for a Leicester City player so it could be a case that MM is using Davies as a sweetner to get the player he wants.

So we didn't send Davies to Leicester to get match practise and build up his fitness only as a sweetener to get Fryatt. Strange kinda logic you've got there kidder.

I beg to differ....even stranger,is that Davies has played 15 games (9 from the bench) in two and a half years, and some posters have him down as some Messiah !!

When Mcarthy first came to the club he had high hopes of Davies and spoke of him very favourably. I'm sure he sent him out on loan to get him fit but maybe more in hope than in expectation because of his fitness problems over the past 2 years.

I think we all know how good Davies could be, maybe some of us just thought that he was never going to make it, after his injury problems.

Davies is as far as I know only on loan for a month, the rest of our players who are out would appear to be going to spend the season at their loan clubs. It strikes me that Mick will have Davies back in the squad from the new year and that he may finally get his chance with Mick's Wolves. It also strikes me that a number of the other players that are on loan are building up a reasonable amount of experience. I know there is a school of thought that a number of these will be sold off over the coming year or so, I am less inclined to that opinion thinking that two or three may slot into the first team over time.
What is the latest update on Mark Little's situation and indeed Matt Murray's also.

i beg to differ ..... those of us who have seen him play do not consider him to be the 'Messiah', but an exceptional talent who,for many reasons, hasn't had the chance to fulfill his potential .........

    yet.

A fit, uninjured Mark Davies, IMO, would be a huge asset to any club.

Exactly what leeds said. If you've seen him play, you'll know just how good he is, which is why some who haven't seen him may mistakingly interpret excitable posts regarding Davies in the wrong way and think he's the new messiah. Which he isn't, he's just a very naughty boy. (who's a cracking footballer)

As for getting his head together, another player of his age group who looked as good as him was Cornes, and we all know what happened there. Davies may enjoy going out on the lash from time to time (what 21 year old doesn't) but at least he hasn't taken it too far.

Who has actually seen Cornes play? I only ever saw him on the bench away at Reading and thought he looked like an unfit Andy Reid!

 My God he must have been in bad shape because Andy Reid himself looks unfit!

We don't know. Maybe he's been sent on loan for fitness or maybe MM can't see him fitting into the squad.
I have a feeling He is out of contract in the summer, We really need to get him on another 3 year deal. I have banged on about it for a long time now but the lad is class.
Get him back here when his loan exspires, AND use him in the 1st team.. He is a match winner..

I did - and he was more of a proto-Mark Viduka (before he got really fat) than an Andy Reid.

Mark Davies has the potential to be a top class Premier League midfielder, hopefully with us. There's nothing I'd like to see more over the remainder of this season than to see him get fit, stay fit and really make a first team place his own!

  23. Agree with the sentiments of the majority on here, the lad is quality.

I just hope he comes through his loan with Leicester unscathed and then returns to us in Jan firing on all cylinders and gets a chance to impress from the bench. I get the feeling if he were to have a run in the team alongside someone like Henry, he could make the difference. But lets not forget we have some very good players competing for the two middle shirts - Dave Edwards and Dave Jones are no mugs by any means!

Its great to have competition. I definitely think, with the choice in the middle we have right now, sending MD out on loan for a couple of months was the right choice, i'm just pleased to see he's impressing.

I remember enough of Mark D to feel confident he'll be a marked improvement on Edwards / Jones as a partner for Henry. The latter two are perfectly alright but somehow lack that edge IMO. Mark D is the sharp new knife while Edwards & Jones are just a little bit blunt.

  26. Exactly.

He was never going to get match practice/fitness here.

Come January I think he will be up to scratch and ready to show Henry, Jones and Edwards what being a CM really means - tackling, running, passing and scoring goals from midfield - heaven forbid a CM that can do ALL of those things!

If Davies doesn't make it here and is released at the end of the season, for me it will be confirmation of all the rumours, as talent wise, the lad definitely has it.

It'd be a crying shame if our brightest talent since Lescott goes elsewhere.

A fit and firing Davies is just what we will need in the New Year to add compettition to a still less than convincing central midfield. As long as he can stay fit I hope he gets some games and we give him a three year contract fast. As a former England youth captain his talent is hardly a secret so I hope the club move fast on this.

Agree with what has been said. A fit Mark Davies is the best midfielder at the club. Lets remember he was the star England youth player in the same team as Stearman and Mancienne (just think of a midfielder that is better than those pair at the back). The majority on here have probably only seen him play out wide right for the first team which is like playing Potter out there. The lad is quality in the centre.

It's in Davies' hands now though. No more 'Mick doesn't like him' nonsense.

He's done nothing for 2 years and now has to earn his new contract. He's got the ability and now he's fit.

It's time for him to show everyone what we all know he can do.

I'd love to see Mark Davies play regularly for wolves, he has the potential to be much better than any of our current central midfielders.

  33. Great to hear him getting reviews like that. would love to see him in the centre for the wolves this season. The lad is Quality ! FACT!

  34. Henry plus a fully fit and motivated Davies would be my first choice midfield pairing, but our 4-2-4 set up means there's a lot of hard work required from the two midfield players. Whatever the pairing.

Fair comment, but since Davies has the ability to beat his man, he could also do a job out wide - considering how little like-for-like cover we have for Jarvis & Kightly, I don't think that should be overlooked.
