Not finalised yet. So hopefully MM can recall him back.
If we allow Davies to stay out on loan, then we must have a central midfielder lined up in the window.
I also think we will offer him a new deal before he does go out on loan (like Dan Jones). Would prefer him to come back but if the club reckon a loan deal is the best as he comes back from near 2 years without football then so be it.
Seems the lad is coming through and playing good football too according to the gaffer Pearson.
Hopefully his form hits the right note with us too. A terrier like CM is what we are missing.
"Wolves defender Mark Davies" ???
Great reporting by Sky !
Will be him good to extend for at least another month but with call back if required and with our current midfield (Jones/Edwards) it will be needed
If we agree to loan him out for the rest of the season......are you able to recall (after the initial 28 days)?
if so, then I wouldn't be against the deal, knowing if we needed him from Feb we could take him back
If we dont have at least 1 midfielder lined up then its an awful decision to leave him there.
Unless MM and Jez plans to raid the Prem......
Davies has been allowed to stay for the rest of January.
We will be able to recall him then.
So, I would guess new midfielder arriving in the next 7 days, ready for his debut v Preston
The possible signing of Gow is a signal that MM is in no hurry to bring him back. Personally I would have him back as soon as possible as long as his fitness is up to scratch.
Bull$$$$ decision by MM imo. We only have henry playing well out of our three favoured center midfielders so why the hell he is staying there is beyond me. Hope Merlin has a good midfielder on the way in then.
and allows him to play in the Cup for them so won't figure for us in an experimental cup run this season. Rubbish decision IMHO
He's already played for them in the cup.
I mean't a rubbish decision to cup tie him earlier in the season..... honest
Yes, how dare Mick and his team try and nurse a player that has played next to no football for 2 years. Remember he is behind his schedule. He was set to go out on loan for 3 months with Notts County and got injured.
He is playing week in week out and we can now recall him at any point in the next 31 days if we need him.
I would call him back after the cup (Davies is cup tied), Davis has phoned in sick today and Edwards is injured, as has often been said it will be like a new signing. Also when does his contract run out is it this summer, if so can Davis arrange a pre-contract with the Foxes from January? If this is the case its a concern!! Especially when it looks like Gow is coming for a fee when we already have a player who could fit the role if fit.
yes, how dare he leave an in form midfielder at another club when he is needed here. Like i said, if he has a good player lined up then fine, if he doesnt then he needs his head looking at.
Like Kenny 11 says, I can only believe that Mick and Jez have a midfield target that they expect to sign, allowibng Davies to stay at Leicester
As Edwards is injured although not seriously and Jones like Edwards is out of form.
Gow from Rangers via Blackpool is only cover for the wing and SEB and mot a central midfield player
So at this moment in time it isn't a bull$$$$ decision is it. He can't play for us until the 10th Jan anyway.
Reading that E&S website, reminds me the posters on here are not that bad. Where do they get the them from
Its a bull$$$$ decision. Merlin hasnt got anyone in yet.
No. English players can only negotiate pre-contract deals with English clubs in the final month of their contract.
He can arrange a move to Oswestry Town if he likes, but they'd still have to pay us a fee as he's under 24.
Because we move notoriously slowly in the transfer market, don't we.
Davies was never going to start against Preston even if we recalled him. He last started a league game at this level in April 2006. You don't just go straight in after hardly playing in nearly three years.
Never suggested he would start, and he cant play in the cup. He would be great to come off the bench. Its not like jones and edwards are playing out of their skins really so why not have him back here as another option.
Sitting on the bench is not going to get him match fit.
If he really is not going to feature let him stay there and play games.
We have a re-call option.
He would do a better job than edwards, who imo has no football brain and just runs around a lot. Jones seems to be out of favour despite the fact he is the only midfielder we have who can pick a pass.
Jones would have played against Preston had he not got booked against Blackpool.
For all that you knock Edwards, he has a far better goalscoring record than Davies from a similar amount of games and has looked impressive at full international level.
Forgive my pessesism, but i have seen plenty of sides blow good leads at the top of the table, and Wolves tend to have a habit of letting the fans down. I dont buy into all this " but we are seven points clear " stuff. We havent been playing well lately and i`m worried our luck will run out at some point. We need our good players, and davies is a good player. Edwards may have scored more goals than MD, but he is a very limited player. People seem to forget Davies has excelled at every level of international football he has played, many times playing at a higher age level. He is in form at the moment so i cant see the logic in letting another club keep him.
Based on the limited amount of football I've seen this season, I believe central midfield is the squad's principal shortcoming, but why people insist on criticizing decisions which are evidently intended to be in the best interests of the player and -- by extension -- the club is beyond me. As we all know, Davies has the potential to be a great deal more than competition from the bench to keep David Edwards on his toes, and he's had problems keeping (a) fit and (b) his feet on the ground. Can't we all, just for once, trust the professionals with years of experience in such matters to know when the time is right to put a bit more pressure on Sparky's shoulders? It will do him no good at all, in my opinion, to be hailed as the new messiah before he's even had a run in the team.
He's not the Messiah, he's a very naughty boy (allegedly).
Davies will really only come into the reckoning for Wolves on the run-in - before then he will be feeling his way back into competitive football.
He isnt the messiah, and i really dont think that many people make him out to be it either. They just recognise he is potentially a very good player and want to see him do well for wolves.
That's a big leap from "it's a bull$$$$ decision by MM".
In any case, no decision has been made as yet.
It looks like the G&S have jumped the gun.
It also looks like we're definitely targetting another CM this month.
And all the more impressive for having been performed in reverse.
