Breaking news on SSN - ruptured ligaments

Even more chance that Veela could be drawn into the relegation mix

Very, very good news for us.do think a couple of teams who think they are safe will soon fine themselves back in it when TEzza gets us going!

Seeing the Viler go down would make the season complete.

Vile are in trouble in terms of striker options

Could mean a run out for Heskey!

I think the gap is too big, plus Villa have the ability to keep things tight. Another couple of wins and they'll be fine and I can't see them going the whole of the rest of the season without winning a couple more games.

Makes not beating them or at least getting a draw at our place even more annoying. Had we did that they'd really be in trouble.

I still think they'll get dragged into it because I don't see where their goals are going to come from & add to the fact they've only won 6 games all season (in the PL) their fans should start to worry.

Good news for us, especially if we can get the right result against Fulham.

After Blackburn on Saturday they do not play any of the other teams below them.

How far were Blues away from the relegation zone this time last year (after they won the Carling Cup?), also it was a mixture of their poor form and the teams at the botttom picking up points that sent them down.

I think Villa will end up with a similar number of points as Blues did last season, but 40 will see them comfortably safe this year.

    In McLeish I trust :D
I think it was the same amount of points difference, but tbf they did have the Carling Cup hanging over them

If only we'd beaten them, they'd be just 1 point ahead of us.

As it is, they are 7 points ahead of us. IF we catch them up by the end of the season, I think we'll have avoided relegation by 5/6 points.

Any Mcleish team will pick up enough crappy draws to stay up.

Would be nice but wishful thinking. Odd that I find Villa fans individually seem generally much more irritating than (non-Brummie) Albion fans but dislike Albion as a group more.
You never know but if anyone is joining the 5 at the bottom I think it's most likely to be Swansea.

If the 5 teams at the bottom get as many points as there are matches left, 35 points are all Villa will need, so it means 3 of those 5 will have to do better than that to drag them into it. Not going to happen!

League table after 24/25 games on the "today's other games" thread (now on page 2. Blues were in 16th place on 27 points (us & West Ham on 24) but as was pointed out by ice cream head Blackburn were relatively safe in 11th on 31 points but only actually secured safety by beating us whereas had we won & results gone another way they wopuld've gone down. Blackpool on 28 points in 15th

Not sure how this is good news. I very much doubt we can catch Villa and we need them to take points off the other four around us.

Said it earlier, but Villa after their next game v Blackburn they do not play any of the other current strugglers....it's Stoke and WBA, with the rest of the teams from the top half

Bolton at home. To be re-arranged from 18 march due to Bolton in the cup. Also have to play WBA and Fulham who are just above them at present.

Im not making them safe yet, but it's a good job they have that cushion or they would be right in it
Even if we had taken the three points off them they would be looking down the same barrel as us
As above he really would be seen as agent big eck

They were struggling for goals with Bent! Now they only have Gabby & Heskey as available forwards, they've also loaned Delfonso(sp) out haven't they?

That's because the fixture hasn't yet been re-arranged. A few others to do the same from 17 March. (St.Patricks day and we play Man.U. on the 18th at home).

Except the one he had last year. . .

Everyone thought Villa were in big trouble last year, especially with Arsenal and Liverpool for their final two fixtures, they stayed up pretty comfortably though. They might have an anxious look over their shoulder in a few weeks time but I reckon they'll be fine again and get some results when the silly season starts in the next month or so.

We have to play all of the bottom 6 with the exception of your good selves.Could have a great bearing on what happens.

  29. The ineptitude of the teams below them will see the Villa safe i'm afraid

  30. The Villa fans at work are very nervous - they saw the sign of things to come when Eck decided that Heskey was the striker to send on to get a result against Wigan...
