Has anyone mentioned last nights attendance ? 8000 plus seemed very poor for an important match in the FA Cup. WW are in good form and were facing a fellow Championship team.

Ipswich have a 30000 plus gate tonight (according to MM)

Plus they haven't been in the Premier League for years so this is probably the most glamourous fixture they have had in the last decade.

And who wouldn't want to go and watch Stephen Hunt's silky skills on a Wednesday night.

    All for a tenner too.

Imagine if we were second top (or third?), best season for years, and playing Southampton at home after drawing away, as I say all for a tenner.

Thought the crowd was excellent last night, can't speak for the 20k who didn't go who will be there on Saturday, but the ones who turned up in the South Bank generated an excellent atmosphere considering.

That's what happens when you price a game realistically. I didn't go last night. If it was a tenna of of probably thought yeah why not for £10. Sounds daft over £5 but I would imagine a lot of other people thought the same.

I have no idea why we charged £15 not £10 but I doubt is really made a big difference to the crowd. Our attitude to the cups has had a much bigger effect IMO. Which is a shame as apart fro the decision to play Tuesday I think we gave it a pretty good go this year.

Not forgetting we haven't won a single FA cup tie for 4 years and were playing a lower team from our own division who brought next to no fans on a foul night.
It is a disgrace that it will 5 years by the time we next get a chance.

Ipswich haven't won an FA Cup tie for even longer than that.

Of all the teams at the top, I think they're the ones that we could get closest to.

Not so bad then, I was hoping it wasn't going to be 5000ish. It sounded quite a good atmosphere with a long 'Jack Haywards barmy army' which was lifting the team.

Like someone said, if you make it a Tenner pay on the gate then it would get quite a lot more in. It's like the poundland mentality, just sounds like a good deal.

    Read what I said:rolleyes:
4 years since we won an FA Cup Tie so it will be 5 years by the time we get another chance-namely another 12 months .

Fortunately for the faithful, shivering in temperatures only slightly above zero, the game was packed with entertainment and drama. Our fans responded really well and made sure the team weren't short of vocal backing.

man for man Tuesday was the best atmosphere all season. Now if we can keep that level per person on Saturday it'll be brilliant and nothing less than Sir Jack deserves.

    Back to Tuesday,

How did everyone feel the lower bowl worked? As opposed to shutting the whole Southbank but having the Northbank open fully? (as done in previous cup games).

Personally I thought it worked a lot better, there was an atmosphere for once + more people than normal were able to atleast sit in the stand of their choice. And it also looks better from tv etc

The ratio of people in the Northbank/Southbank (at a guess approx 2500-3000 in the southbank / 1500-2000 in the northbank) surely shows if they are to shut one stand in future it should be the northbank.

Definately worked better, much much better, the South Bank create the atmosphere

For cup games I have for the last three gone in the WV1 bar or Resturant for a meal before the game...

I think as it is is fine. They won't shut the North bank due to the hospitality and they shouldn't shut the south bank.

Which is why for me we need a couple of sections where we can keep fans who want to keep the atmosphere going together. No doubt on Tuesday there we plenty of the most vocal hardcore supporters there all crammed into SL 2,3,4.

For me it should be the whole Southbank (and Northbank for that matter but I fear we've lost that battle).

I understand why people say it should be specific areas but for me thats almost accepting defeat as in saying well the rest won't sing. Anyone who doesn't want to sing and chant really should feel out of place in the Southbank and move! Sadly at times even on the Southbank its been the other way round.

Ideally yes but I'm talking about the fans who want to constantly sing getting together, alot of fans in there just want to be part of the atmosphere & join in occasionally whenever the mood takes them.

Everyone agrees a full stadium is better so why not play cup games at Telford in future?

I didn't like having to give up my normal seat, however I do think it made for a better atmosphere that everyone was bunched together rather than having little pockets of fans around the stand

Ipswich did beat Arsenal in 2011 at Portman Road if I remember correctly, so not quite accurate.

But I get what you mean!

Perhaps Ispwich have put put more effort into building the FA Cup up as something worth fighting for and the fans have gone along with them?

Mood and hype in make a big difference football these days, if the hype is there and a strong, positive mood follows, well perhaps then the fans will follow too?

maybe Ispwich actually want to win the FA Cup and are not treating it like the 2nd class citizen it has become for so many?
