Cheers mister. Interesting reading. Forgot that Sheff Utd were as close to Reading as that. 17 point gap between Reading and 3rd place though was formidable, just shows how well all top 3 teams in the championship are doing this year.

  5. I think comparing that table to the current one shows the importance of winning games rather than staying unbeaten. Reading had only lost once at that point (on the first day I believe), but they only had three more points than we do now.

Leeds and Luton above us and Hull below us! My, how things change!!

  10. What that table goes to show is just how well Wolves, Birmingham and Reading have all done this season. To have amassed as many points as we have and not be miles clear of 3rd place is frankly quite incredible. Equally, Reading and Blues could never have envisaged our form this season. Were it not for us, those two would be in the same position as Reading and Sheff Utd were in 05/06.

  11. we have obviously over - achieved so far this season, but i think only slightly (in the GS department). In general people's posts i have read seem to think our performances so far have wildly exceeded expectations (perhaps forest). I think since MM has come in he's built a very good, young championship team/squad (which i agree is not dissimilar to reading 05/06 team) from scratch in just over two seasons, and if someone had offered me a play - off place before the start of the season i would have not necessarily taken it. Unfortunately however that could be all we end up with as i can see blues and reading putting in an exceptional second half of the season and i think we will have to do it all again in order to gain an automatic place, whereas reading already had it in the bag at this point. i think our away match there in late jan will be crucial.

the comparisons dont end there either they built a young and hungry squad just like us overachieved and lost to us in playoffs then had 2 seasons missing out on the playoffs by 3 points then went on to win the league oh and the season they won the league they played plymouth first game of the season!!!!!!
