Why is it mods can continue to post on closed threads (further than the reason of closing of course) without anybody being allowed to respond?

Either close it for all or close it for none!

(I'm guessing this thread won't last long)

I presume because the post is giving information from a reliable source confirming that it was an unprovoked attack. Keeping the thread closed prevents any more achingly embarrassing speculation from amateur sleuths masquerading as supposedly intelligent people

But does not allow posters the right of reply or to question/respond to information given

That is however a specific (that I agree should be left alone and the thread remain closed) I'm not talking about the post in question (just that brought it to my attention).

My real issue is the fact that mods can post further points but the rest of us peasants are unable to repsond. Either close it for all (by all means give reasons as Mutchy did) and then leave it closed or don't close it at all!

One rule for one one for the holy than thou mods

You've answered your own original question

Why do you think you have a right to reply?

Posts on the thread needed to be calmed down. 'Questioning' went too far. The latest update includes quotes from an official police source, and is currently just for information.

Well I actually reworded that as didn't read the way I intended but in answer to your question who do I think I am to reply, who do the moderators think they are to reply AND block any counter responses.

Its a forum if he doesn't want discussion and speculation he really is in the wrong place.

I thought your post was enough, post should have been closed (and made not viewable if poss) at that point no need for so called mods to use their power to put over further points without anyone being able to respond.

You say questioning went to far fair enough but if you don;t want questioning don't let a mod post further points that are open to questioning.

I want speculation on whether Wolves are signing Messi or some no mark young kid from League 2 who is going to be the new Messi. I want speculation and discussion as to whether the North Bank are ever going to help generate an atmosphere

I don't want speculation as to whether some poor fella who is in hospital fighting for his life was where he was for sinister purposes or whether he got stuck in hospital for shouting "We are Watford" or anything else because that somehow makes it alright

I can live without that on a football forum. Others obviously can't

At this point, if people know better than the direct quotes in that article, they need to be taking that info to the police themselves, not worrying about posting it on here.

So why does the quote (or the thread for that matter) need to be on here??

As I said I'm not talking regarding this specific as agree the thread should have been closed. My point is that Mods are allowed to continue any sort of discussion after closure of a thread. ANOTHER example of abuse of power.

Can I have a guess? Is it because as Moderators they are given the right to differentiate between a discussion and complete $$$$wits posting total $$$$, defending the inexcusable and throwing around wild speculation?

Without them it would be Twitter.

It wasn't a point. It was a fact - a statement from the investigating officer. Unless you are now seeking to insinuate that this DI is wrong/part of some grand conspiracy...

I would have copied and pasted a statement if the officer reported that the victim was a football hooligan who went out of his way looking for trouble.

Everybody is entitled to post their opinion, however continuing to question and insinuate when all evidence and facts point one way is not only counter-productive, it reflects badly on the forum and Wolves fans in general. At a time when people's opinion's about the club are already pretty low.

You know what, fair enough your points above in response to me saying you don't like speculation/discussion is a just one I shouldn't have made that post was ill thought.

As I've said I agree with the thread in question being closed just not the actions after closure and abuse of power from the mods AGAIN.

Its not a continuation of discussion. It is an update containing information from the police.

Your missing the point I'm not going to argue with the above (although points could be argued) as don't wish this thread to turn into the other one.

Why did you feel the need to post it? To massage your ego that you can post whilst others can't I'd guess.

Indeed. The sense of power I feel when copying and pasting a link to the express and star is positively overwhelming.

You have been given your say on the thread in question, but you are not turning this into an insult Mods at will thread. We do our best running the forum for ALL, and will sometimes make decisions you may not like. Mutchy.
