I'm not foreseeing a 10 or 11 point turnaround on Brentford and Ipswich certainly

Not sure a wolves watford semi final would be ideal at the moment.

Would be over the moon, but I can't see us finishing 6 points clear of Ipswich or 7 from Brentford
My prediction is we finish on 77 points

Norwich would be going some if they amassed that points total..would mean 9 wins and a draw from their final 10 matches. We would need 8 wins and a draw so that would be a tall order also..

Brentford have a far easier run-in than us. I'd be pleasantly surprised if we got above 75-76 points, which unfortunately will see us fall just short.

    Blackburn on 74? No chance.

We will get around 79 imo

    I'd be delighted with that.

I think we'll finish just short of the play offs either by GD or a point.

At least every one of these predictions has Wigan going down, so there is something good about to happen irrespective of where we finish!

It's always difficult when trying to do these things, well for me anyway, as I hate predicting Wolves lose. However I've tried to be as fair as possible, maybe a bit reserved even, and have Wolves picking up another 17 points giving them a total of 75pts.

I note you have given us 25 points from our last 10 games
    8-1-1 Unlikely
You have also only given Forest 13 points
4-1-5 Again unlikely given the run they are on.

I still remain hopeful of a PO place but think the only way Wolves will achieve this aim is to make sure that take max points of their rivals.

Obviously need to win as many games as possible but beating the likes of Ipswich, Derby and Boro would be a real boost in more ways than one.

Having just looked at our remaining fixtures and trying to be objective, I have us finishing on 73 points, but being optimistic, I think we may get around 77!

    Exactly.

The next two games, against clubs who are unlikely to make the play offs or be relegated, will go a long way to determining how the season ends. Win both or pick up say 4 points and Wolves go into the Derby game with all the play for I believe.

Beat Derby and it sends out a message Wolves can beat the leagues better sides. Hopefully by this time the gap will have been narrowed on teams above Wolves meaning picking up max points against Boro and or Ipswich is vital.

Sticking with my original points tally of 77 points.
We need 7 points from the next 3 games which should see the 4 point gap reduced.

If you look at the recent pattern of results, and the fixtures coming up for all the top 8, then it is hard to see anyone really running away with it. It also seems likely that we are going to be looking at a high points total for sixth place, as the points spread is so close.

Following on from those assumptions, I see 85 points as being enough for first place this year, but a very high 79/80 required for 6th place. We will know after the next three games played in close succession, where Wolves stand. 3 options:

    1. Back in the thick of it, with an outside chance of automatic, if we get 7/9 points out of next week.
    2. Become part of a small group of three clubs chasing one playoff place, along with Brentford and Ipswich, if we get 4-6 points from next week.
    3. Become detached from the top 6/7 clubs and play out the rest of the season, if we get 0/3 points from next week.

We need 7 wins out of ten, with a draw at least from the remaining three fixtures, imo. It is an enormous ask to be honest and I have to doubt the ability of our small squad to manage it.

There are going to be some very strange results over the next few weeks allied to all the top teams having a multitude of fixtures against each other. It is impossible to predict all of the results but it will be those teams who put a concerted run of results together who will prevail.
As others have said it will a lot clearer come 2140 a week tomorrow.

Vic, if Watford can pick up another 26 points from a possible 30 taking into account some of the upcoming fixtures they face then not only will they have done unbelievably well but would thoroughly deserve top spot.

Hand on heart I think we'll fall a bit short but with so many of the top sides playing one another who knows. We were unlucky to not go 3-1 up against Watford on a few occasions then ultimately obviously had to settle for a draw. Fine margins. Gut feeling says we're not a top 6 side but holding out hope of someone else faltering and letting us nip in!

And it's times like now I look back with some anger and frustration that Wolves threw away so many points in some games. Two points lost at both Millwall and Reading. Only 4 points I know but those 4 points added to where Wolves are now would see them in equal 6th place and only 4 points from top spot.

    Such is though.
