    :D I remember that!

This could/should open that Dropping Iversen when in the prem contoversy.

In fact it will, Jones should never have dropped Iversen for a rusty Cort when in the prem and if he hadn't, it's my belief, we would have stayed up.

He must be well knackered now, Cort.

We already know that he failed a medical at Palace (which cost us £1.5m) and I'm reliably informed that he failed TWO medicals at MK Dons, so I'm very surprised that Norwich have signed him. Still, they've loaned out the only striker they actually own (Cureton), so I guess they're desperate.

The Oakes/Jones and Iversen/Cort farces contributed hugely to us getting cut adrift after the Man Utd and Liverpool games. I quite liked Cort when he was fit and not playing on the right wing, but he should have been introduced gradually, especially as Iversen was playing so well.

But then, that's Dave Jones for you.

I'm amazed he's playing at this level again. He'd almost retired by playing in Spain.

Once he got fit in the Premier season, he and Camara looked superb.

Good luck to him, though I doubt if he will play more than 10 games for them this season.

My God, I had no idea he scored that regularly for us. There can't be many players with that good-a goal scoring record who remained so unpopular (or if not unpopular, at least not popular). There was a hell of a lot of racist bile directed at him where I used to sit.

desperation. if i was a norwich fan i would be greatly worried. not that cort is a money grabbing, big time charlie, or a bad player. he's very good, when fit. sadly he never is and takes him a good 6 to 7 games to get fit. though to be fair to the lad maybe our medical department let him down. if he was with us now he would stand a better chance.

Iverson was treated appallingly by jones- put into the first team when he wasn't fully fit straight after virtually two years out injured, risking his career, then dropped for an unfit cort as soon as he found his feet. Man-management at it's very worst, he's lucky he didn't end the careers of iverson, lescott and newton trying to save his job with no care for the players welfare. One of the many many things that makes me loathe dave jones. Back to cort, he looked useless in spain, i don't think he scored out there in the 9 or so games i saw he'd played in last season. Gash.

Serves him right for applying for the managers job.

There's not really much substance to that statement is there? How many of those games did you see? He may have been fantastic. Heskey, for instance, regularly has spells without scoring would you call him gash?

I agree with what you say there. But conversely, I'm quite glad that McCarthy risked Kightly's welfare by bringing him on against Cambridge last season. That could well have saved his job!

I think he averaged nearly 1 in 3 for us. Not a bad stat for any striker. Shame he was out so often or played wide right by that tactical genius Hoddle.

I liked Cort when he was here.. a much better footballer than he was given credit for IMO. His partnership with Camara in the last 10 -15 games of our prem season was top notch and IMO had we had that partnership for most of that season then we'd have had a hell of a good chance of staying up.

One of the things that disappointed me most about the whole Camara saga was the fact that we adjusted back to life in the championship without that partnership, as it would have been brilliant at this level and the team playing to the strengths of it.

Cort wasn't that bad for us given that he was often played out of position or as a lone front man without support. unfortunately once Hoddle came we was never going to see the best of him from the way hoddle set the side up.

There was a feature on him in FFT recently, saying that the fans expected much despite the fact that he failed to score in 14 appearances at Leicester in League One and was, in many fans eyes, utterly useless. The fact he was released from there and then released from a 3rd Division Spanish outift having made more impact in Marbella when he got sent home from there at Newcastles pre-season training camp tells me I didn't need to watch the games to know he is truly GASH.

Awful Player no effort. Remember him being outjumped by Jodi Morris in a game at Millwall who is a foot shorter than him!

DW - I assume the picture of Stern John is ironic? Even though he never played for us, some might argue John contributed more to the Wolves cause than C Cort?:)

    Haha. Touche!

I'm rather tickled by the name of the police operation to find the 16 fans identified as shouting racist and homophobic abuse at Sol Campbell: Operation Decency!

Agreed. Fickle fans as ever..he got the abuse George Ndah didn't.
I liked both players by the way.

I see our old friend Leon Clarke, after scoring yet again over the weekend, was described on Sky as Leon Cort
