With Danny Ings reportedly being sought after by Tottenham, it's got me thinking about all the strikers that Burnley seem to find very cheap and then sell for a massive fee.

    - Steven Fletcher
    - Charlie Austin
    - Jay Rodriguez
    - Kyle Lafferty
    - Robbie Blake

What is it about Burnley that we don't have?!
I suppose Dicko has been a good find, but we rarely seem to get a striker on the cheap nowadays that scores goals. Mark Nouble was the last 'cheap' striker we got, and well, that was a disaster.

I think Danny Ings could well be the best of the lot too. I really, really like him.

    A decent striker scout.

    Bournemouth are the same.

Well, why don't we get a decent striker scout instead of wasting money on Clarke, Sigurdarson et all?!

Ashley Barnes looks half decent too. Also Sam Vokes is just coming back from the injury after the excellent last season. I hope he makes it in the Premier League. Always liked him and wish we had kept him.

    Steve Bull was cheap.

Didn't sell him........................ despite Graham Taylor trying to send him to Coventry.

Back in the 60s and early 70s Burnley it was said had the best youth and reserve set up in the country. all before academies were thought of.

It was amazing how many players they would sell even though they were in the top division themselves. Top players.
And still the buggars stopped us achieving the hat trick of league champions and cup winners in 1960. Lost out on the league title by the smallest of margins but won the cup over a ten man Blackburn. That was because they lost their full back after he broke his leg in an altercation with our Norman Deeley. The full back's name was Dave something or other . I dont know if anyone knew that before.:p

That is a very impressive list.

On the topic of Burnley's strikers though, I seem to recall somebody waxing lyrical about Lukas Jutkiewicz during the summer for some reason... How absolutely gash is he!? Average Championship striker at best, and that is being generous.

A close friend of mine works for Burnley youth development...

He says they have some great youngster coming through, but find it hard when the Cat A bug boys come calling around Lancashire

If i remember correctly Robbie Blake was cast off by Bradford.

I always rated him, despite playing with his head down.

By the time he got to Burnley he'd arguably had his best days.
