Difficult to know where to have a pint before the game, no pub in walking distance from the ground if I remember correctly from 2 seasons ago, as I am going down on the coach

Anyone know how many tickets we have sold to date

A large place called Brighton not too far away on the train has a pub or 50.

Ok Ok but has I said, travelling down on the coach which will go straight to the ground so looking for a pub from there, nearest is the Swan but for home fans only

Club coach? Be better off just drinking in ground by time you are there!

Might be worthwhile getting train back into Brighton. Match ticket includes train travel (IIRC).

Really they should drop you near the station/centre as the train price is included then find a few boozers around that way & make you way to the ground after, save a train journey.

Don't wait too long to get the train back to the ground though it was a free for all two years ago. Barriers thrown over and fans charging for the train, few arrested aswell.

Telford Wolves stop enroute for Beer and lunch outside Brighton before heading to the ground

Tempted to do the Lewes route this time as Brighton is a dump.

Also, you only need to buy a train ticket to Haywards Heath as local trains as far out to HH are included in match ticket.

Out of interest, does anyone know roughly how many we have sold for this? Doubt it will reach a sell out, or even close if i'm honest.

Presumably the Hayward Heath ticket only works if you go via Lewes as Brighton train, I'd be travelling on doesn't go via HH?

Not bad at all then actually! Could possibly reach 2000 which is pretty good in my opinion.

It is actually as BHA away will be one of the longest away days if not the longest of them all.

    Hoping for a sell out.

Most if the pubs in West St, 5 mins from train station will allow most away teams. You can drink at the AMEX once the turnstiles are open. There is a live band playing and a place to have a drink just outside the club shop. My advice is get to the ground early. Your ticket gives you free train travel and it gets very busy closer to kick off on the trains.. Long queues.

BW - read some reviews from fans claiming to have queued for an hour after the game to catch train back into Brighton, which is generally the less-busy route out Brighton or Lewes?

Queues after the game are bad. However if fans behave you can go into the stands and have a beer, there are signs re next trains etc. back to Brighton is better.

remember THAT game a couple of years ago we tried to get the train from Brighton to the ground around 2.20pm and the ques were massive (the police block off that platform and only allow so many on etc).

Got to the point were we had to decide to $$$$ the queue and try a taxi. Still got there after kick off (after being dropped off on the dual carriageway and having to climb up a hill etc) and taxi cost £20+

After the game stayed at the bar in the away end which reopens (which is handy) for about half hour so was fine getting back.

Horrible modern souless football ground miles out of town.

It's got better over the past few years but I'd rather have a pint inside than queue for a train. Perils of a stadium out of the city.
    Trick is arrive early
    Leave later

Out of town stadiums are the worst away days by far. Awful

Exactly! Day's out at places like Crewe were made so much better because it was easy to walk from the station to the ground! The Amex just sounds like a right pain in the $$$$ to get to.

At least they have a ground now rather than the Withdean. The whole theme or the AMEX is that you spend more than just the 90 mins there hence the live music and stand bars open before and after. If you leave to get to the ground for 2 you will be fine and stay after to celebrate our win!!

Depends which route you take and how many pubs you want to visit, fortunately an easy walk back to the station:D!

The whole theme is a horrible modern football consumer lead theme. Awful away day.

Mind you I bet their supporters...no fans...no clientele love it. Wonder how many of them ever went to the Withdean?

Yeah Crewe's a good one, station, pubs, bit of a town centre all close to the ground.

I've never been to the Amex but I agree - why does a football ground need a theme beyond... football?

As modern football goes, I'd rather the AMEX and it's "themes" than a plastic Londoner drinking carling in the pub watching his team manure play on a Saturday lunchtime.

It needs the theme as its out of the city. To attract families and to make it a day out. Most Brighton fans would prefer the ground in the city centre but it couldn't happen. Plenty of families head to the ground early, parents go and have a pint and the kids play footy in the footprint. As themes go it's a very friendly family orientated one which in my opinion works for them.

Agree. Plan to have a couple of pints in town with the Outlaws (Brighton Season Ticket holders) then get to the ground early for a pint (or two) of draft Harvey's before the match and a pint or two after whilst the queues for the trains die down :D

Fair enough, I never really considered that. I suppose that the fact that they have been forced out of town means that they have to make the ground pay its way. It's such a shame that they couldn't have been allowed to build in or near to the city itself rather than a train ride away. I guess I just love grounds that are embedded within the area of their supporters... if you see what I mean. I have a very fond (but rather blurry :D) memory of a sun-scorched Goldstone Ground on a bank holiday weekend in the early 90's.... 3-all draw if memory serves. Nostalgia eh? Football's changed and stadia with it, I guess.

As new stadiums go the Amex is the best for me, creates an atmosphere and their fans were knowledgable on football, and proper booze instead of cans of john smiths or whatever $$$$ most clubs give us

The AMEX is very nice. It's a concrete bowl with soul. Friendly people, hopefully nice weather and a few drinks either in Brighton or Lewes. What more could anyone possibly want?
