According to today Express & Star Bakory is happy to stay at Wolves as it his his dream to get Wolves into the Premier division.
he however will look at offers from Premier league teams but only if they are currently a top 9 side.
His representatives have stated that 3/4 teams from the lower half of the premiership have enquired but Bakory is unwilling to leave as they may end up in the Championship.

He went on to say that the "Wolves Story" would come to an end if Wolves failed to gain promotion this season

What good news that he is leaving on a free at the end of the season?

Good news indeed, but how awful that Wolves now find ourselves in a position where a single player can have so much clout.

It used to be an honour and a dream to play for the Mighty Wolves. No longer the case obviously, now, unless we can guarantee a higher standard, a player wants to go.

Anyway, as I said its good news he's staying for a while at least, and good news he'll now be back sooner than expected. Let's hope he makes the difference and both he and the club end up where we want to be next season.

Well good in so far as it clarifies his position at any rate. Good that his "dream" is to go up with us into the PL too. Good for us too that Mali are out of the ACN but have to feel for them going out in that manner. Have to just wonder now though whether this statement and Mali's exit will have any effect on recruitment efforts in what remains of this window- as even with himself available we seem to need more quality.

I don't see the problem with him leaving in the summer.
He's honored his contract and there's no reason we should begrudge him when he leaves.

Agreed. The man went down to League one with us and brought us back up. He's honored his commitments.

I don't see the problem with this either. He's very unlikely to leave in this window then (fingers crossed West Ham dont come in...) & despite there being plenty of interest in him, he really wants to go up with Wolves. So come on M&M, lets see some investment so we can get up, and you can get Sako on a contract to get some value out of him if we yo-yo.

Its up to the board to match his ambition, and i am afraid that wont happen so he moves on, good luck to the guy, pity the powers that be are not of the same mindset.

This is good news indeed but pretty much nothing that wasn't already mostly known of.

As such the club should, note the word should, be going all out to achieve success so as one of if not the best player on the clubs books stays.

Unfortunately the utter $$$$e attitude by the club shines through.

That's unlikely but if Wolves did why would Sako leave after the comments he has made?

As much as I love Sako, he's really not that good.

No way is he going to get into a top 9 Premiership club.

    Too erratic and raw.

He's a good player but I'm afraid if he thinks he's top 9 prem he's dreaming. Mid to lower is as good as it will get for him and even then can you see him as a regular? He'll stay until the end of the season and end up at the Albion or the likes come Summer.

    Embarrassing he's leaving for free.

Pity we haven't backed up his loyalty, and his hope to get us promoted , with a couple of quality signings over the last 4 weeks.... but then again, since when did we ever show any ambition?

A slightly above average player at Championship level, but lets not lose the run of ourselves!

He has'nt had the Premier League beating down the door nor are they likely to.

I wish him well in the summer and hope he gets the move he wants. If by some miracle, we get promoted, I would not want to re sign him for the Premier League.

I wish the powers that be at Wolves would wake up and see how 'doable' promotion is this season, only 2 more quality additions would do it. There's £60m ++++ waiting and the para money thereafter!!

Come on the Board, speculate to accumulate!

He's in the limelight that's fine but at least he has ability and has some desire to stay with us and play.
Just remember the last player in the limelight O'hara, wince, cringe - oops.
Fair play Sako lets see where the season takes us.

    This 100%.

Comes to something when an openly honest player who most likely won't be at the club much longer shows more ambition than the powers that be.

Top 9. He has set his standards very low. Our Rog was upset that no team in the top 6 had come in for him and in the end had to settle for us.

As some others have said the problem is not with him but our Board not wanting to invest to make a serious challenge for promotion. Why should he not look to aim to play football at a higher level?
From our point of view with almost zero hope of promotion I cant see the value of just an extra few months in the team when we could be playing someone for the future.

Fair play to him, he's shown his loyalty to, and seems to have genuine affection for, the club and the fans. Should we fail to gain promotion and he leaves I wish him nothing but success in his career.

As an aside to those who say the club isn't showing enough effort in getting promotion due to a lack of signings, you must realise that a lot of work goes on that we as fans never hear of, also you cant just say we want to sign such and such a player, or strengthen in whatever position, the players we want also need to be available and willing to talk to the club and then want to sign a contract.

Moxey only signed him because he bought he was buying a bakery. No doubt he's currently negotiating with his replacement Pat Isserie.

Fair play to Sako, he stayed when others didn't fancy Ligue Un and he was an integral part of our success last season. He deserves a chance to have a crack at playing in the top flight.

Totally agree with this. He's been frustrating and effective in equal measures for us and needs a much more reliable end product to succeed in the PL. I hope he stays as he's as much a talisman as he is a good player for us, but if he did manage to join a top-half PL side, he'd be a squad player at best. He'd do better staying with us, at least for a season in the PL, make a name for himself playing at the highest level, then move on assuming we don't survive. My take anyway....

I think you raise an excellent point there. If he stays until the summer, and we get promoted, how many would offer him a new contract, and how many would be happy to see him leave for another, probably lower PL, club? I'm not sure myself. On one hand I would say we could do better, on the other, we would save a transfer fee keeping him, and it would repay his loyalty through the relegation to L1.

Yes, my sentiments exactly. Over inflated opinion of his own abilities either from himself or fed to him by his 'advisors'. And if he does get promoted with Wolves, which is unlikely this time round, then I think he will find we will not be a top 9 team. Not for a few seasons at least.

Whilst M&M remain at the club I have serious doubts Wolves will ever become a top 9 club.

What I do find bizarre is how we seem to always have players who think they should be plying at the very top of English football even though they've got us relegated.

    It's quite astonishing.

Firstly: How do you know? Several sources has reported interest from WBA, Stoke, Crystal Palace, QPR and Aston Villa. He's pretty much the only name mention when people discusss outgoing transfers from Molineux, and lately, he's been doing incredibly well in the AFCON. How many other Wolves players in recent times would have the ability to score THAT goal against the Ivory Coast?

Since joining Wolves he's scored in an average of a goal every third game. That is incredibly for a winger (even if one season was in L1). If you compare him to good Wolves winger in recent past his numbers are superior. For instance Matt Jarvis scored in every seventh games for Wolves. Kightly score in every fifth game. I don't have the statistics for assists, but you know what it would tell us. Bottom line: He has done GREAT for us.

If we somehow go up you wouldn't want him to stay? Really? What kind of players do you think we'll sign if we win promotion?

Sako has deserved better from our fans, surely. Most players of his ability would have left us when we were relegated to L1. And according to reliable sources he had options.

He's not a top Prem player whatsoever. I do however appreciate his sentiment in not leaving for a club that may be relegated.

He wants a season in the Prem. will he be a success? Who knows.

Stunned that people aren't sure if they would keep him if we went up. Surely you keep your best players and build around them.

Maybe we could get better but from memory the players we brought last time in the Premier League to play wide included Greg Halford, Geoffrey Mujanji-Bia and Stephen Hunt. Think I'd much rather take my chances with Sako.
