No 'yes' or 'no' answers, am I the only person who would like to see us, WBA, Villa, Brum, Stoke, Derby, Forest, Leicester in the PL?

I think it would be fantastic for the Midlands in general to have us all competing in the top flight, but many friends I speak to ( fans of them all) seem to narrow minded and give the usual ' I'd love for your team to be relegated.

The midlands generally is under represented in the top flight with it being a division of north and south clubs.....

I couldn't care less about what teams are in the league as long as we're there.

You forgot Coventry. Totally agree: better any Midlands club than North-West or London.

I suppose there would be some cheaper & easier away days, apart from Brum not much else around us these days. East mids 2 are next up I think which is actually pretty poor considering the size of the region with probably Wigan & Sheffield next.

Personally I would love to play Albion next season then see them relegated ten times on the trot and never see them again

To be honest...which we could play the Baggies every season, love the banter

We'd be lucky to get 2/3 games kick off at 3pm on a Saturday with all of us in the PL with Sky, Local police, fixture clashes and the Europa league.

It would at best be who could lose to who to avoid the Europa league and most probably fighting against each other to stay out of the bottom three.

Would be superb fun in a league where we all had a chance of achieving something and wouldn't have a game moved every other weekend though - maybe one day that will be possible in the English top flight.

Its only a few years since us, Villa, Albion, Blues and Stoke were all in the prem. Can't beat top flight derby games.

Having local derbies is nice but all I really care about are Wolves and not bothered about other clubs.

    I agree.
Don't get me wrong I love seeing them all struggle, but it's only because I know the above will never happen.
Well not at least with some success.
It's kind of a formality that those teams will fight to stay at of relegation, do their best for mid table and at best take shots to be in the mix with your Spurs etc.

Totally agree wvwolf, that is the main reason I really don't want Villa and WBA to get relegated. I want as many Midlands teams in the Premiership as possible, including Wolves!

  17. Found it incredibly fascinating to scroll though the tables. Don't know that much about our early past, but if I'm right, it seems that fans from 06/07 to 32/33 had it worse than us! 22 years out of the top flight?

I have to agree with the OP. It was the reason growing up was so fun having all the locals in the same league year on year. 2010/2011, bragging rights was my most enjoyable season because our record was P6 W3 D2 L1 which was the best out of the four I believe and it was great.

Could I add Walsall and Shrewsbury to the list. Wonderful if one or the other could do a Wimbledon for a few seasons and box above their weight.

I'd like to see the Midlands football teams doing well. Unfortunately, Midlands football is in a poor state of affairs and it's only going to get worse the longer the midland clubs are out of it.

If Villa get relegated, that will leave the Albion representing football at the highest level.

The demise of Villa, Brum and Coventry gives me no joy. Once upon a time, it was Wolves that were falling through the leagues without a pot to $$$$ in. It was an awful time for us and not something i'd wish on any football fan. ( even the Albion. )

    I hope Villa stay up.

2 FA Cup Finals in that time though, we won it in 1908 and I think we were in the 1921 final, can't remember the year off the top of my head.

yeah lost to spurs even though wolves were in 2nd division

wolves won a fair few local competitions and cups during that time too I think. I wonder if they held more prestige then than what they would now? after all back then there was no sky, champions league and most the players were locals so there would have been a totally different perspective on what was seen as "success" then.

Local cups may well have counted for more then

You're not alone at all wvwolf. Even those who've replied negatively know you're right deep down :D

Back in the day (50s, 60s, 70s) we took the local derbies for granted - if you missed one, there'd soon be another one along.

Look at it now - just Blues. And 3 years since we've squared up to Villa or Albion.

    Roll on, I say :D
