They just mentioned on the football league show that kenny has now managed 80 games for wolves and has 40 clean sheets. I think that's a remarkable achievement. Long may it continue and I'm really happy he is our manager.

A wonderful achievement. KJ is the best manager we've had in years.

Another point from the FL show: how flappy is PIG at crosses and set pieces? He's all over the place!

I think he only messed up twice, wolf. Otherwise, he punched well and claimed a lot of crosses.

Twice more than keepers should be messing up though. Could have cost us the game.

He's had a few good games before this though so I'm not doubting him. He'll be tested heavily in our next two games.

That's quite harsh, don't you think? Cardiff were playing the Stoke game and our whole defence struggled.

He's done an excellent job on the whole, especially given the broken state of the club when he took over. Yes, we should have gone up last year but if we hadn't (and a number of other clubs of our size didn't bounce back straight away), the consequences could have been catastrophic.

He has probably had the best first 20 months to a Wolves Managerial career from anyone that I can remember. And Morgan and Moxey should be eternally grateful for the way he has got them and the Club out of the huge mess they created.

I think Turner was probably just as impressive Tring. Turned a club in the worst period in its history around then lead us to the play offs then two promotions.

Kenny has done excellently to handle the pressure of last season and to get us challenging this season. I think our recruitment has been shockingly bad this season apart from BA and to get us so competitive with the squad we have is impressive.

Absolutely agree and I don't think the influence of Joe Gallen should be forgotten. Indeed for those of us who read that book ( about Millwall) it is clear just what a vital role Joe is likely to be playing quietly behind the scenes.
Such a shame though that so many on here have been so quick to turn against our still relatively new management team ( where are they all at the moment one wonders!?) They have over- achieved and continue to do so this season and certainly deserve every credit and dare I say it better support from above to realise their ambitions for the club.

In a few weeks if we lose a couple it will be back to
" he's a tinkerman, he's proved he can't manage above this level and why is he picking dangerous Dave"

Doing a great job IMO, I'll keep that view whether we finish 1st or 8th, although would expect to mount a definite challenge next year for automatic, that's if we don't manage it this year.

He's had a good run recently, which doesn't hide the fact that before this we were $$$$ poor.

My comment was a bit tongue in cheek but with an air of truth about it.

Sure you know NWW as well as I and most others that more should have been done to improve the squad.

He had a poor run which I personally believe was largely attributable to the absence of Dicko (and any real alternative quality options up front). As part of the recruitment team, he (along with Thelwell, Webber, Moxey and Morgan) have to take some accountability for that arising.

It can't be coincidence that our form and attacking threat has improved hugely since having Sako, Afobe and Dicko all available.

I'll maintain that taken overall and given the situation the club was in when he arrived, his impact and first 80 games have been the best of any Wolves Manager in nearly 30 years.

Yep but we don't know who that is down to mate. Afobe wasn't cheap at all, so he has been backed.

    Ah :D

I think Jackett would have a better record, but i think Turner had it harder. This is the squad he took over with. Not pretty!

The Afobe deal was a pleasant surprise and one that so seems to be paying off so far. Lets all hope it continues.

It would be interesting NWW to know who things are down to mate, whether it be an individual or a combo of different people involved.

It's not fair to apportion blame without knowing all the facts in full but it is frustrating to think what might have been but for a bit more effort. As I often say nothings a guarantee but feel sure things could be even better.

However things are on the up for now and who knows what might be by the seasons end?

Excellent manager. Just to be in the mix at this stage is excellent stuff. I didn't expect too much this season. I thought next season would be the season to mount a promotion challenge.

Bloody hell, that lot must rate as the worst ever Wolves squad! There's players there I've never heard of! Some on here think times are bad now - they were bad times!
Anyway on to KJ - best thing that's happened to Wolves for years. I liked the FL Show comments where they said as a defensive mf himself KJ always looks to build his sides round a strong defence. Get the back 5 right, which he has done and build from there. I hope SG is over his injury and is back for the rest of the season.

Most teams have a bad run at some point, especially after gaining promotion to a higher division, it's how you respond to the bad run that counts. KJ's calm and steady response to the 'November crisis' was and is top class.

Most of those clean sheets were in Division 1 where anybody's granny could have managed that squad to the title.

The tinkerman has no Plan B, cant manage in this division, makes stupid changes , blah blah blah

(According to the (unluckily out of work) football managers on here)

Hasn't KJ explained that he picked Hause ahead of Golbourne to help combat the aerial threat of Jones & Morrison? We're lucky in that we do have plenty of very different cent defensive options with Hause & EEL waiting in the wings with Iorfa & Doherty being very capable right back options also (not sure who's best out of those two if I'm honest)

No team could cope with losing their equivalents of sako, Dicko and afobe

But we should remain cautiously optimistic of how well we are doing when they are all available. It's even allowing Kenny to rotate and protect them, which is good management.
Afobe looks like a good signing with a lot of competition to his signature.

Very harsh, there are at least 4 players there fit to wear the shirt! A bit like now the pain of (triple / double) relegation and the joy of (double, let's hope that happens again) promotion and rebuilding a squad from next to nothing made for more interesting times than endless mid-table years in the Champ.

Totally agree re GT's management of our beloved club. Don't think he gets the recognition that he fully deserves.

    A top man !

Mind'st you, so is KJ !

I think it's a generational thing. As much as I'm proud of our traditional history, I can't relate to Wolves success in the 50's with Cullis or their top flight presence in the 60's and Seventies. I started supporting Wolves around '78, so other than the '80 League Cup, I haven't got that many memories of Wolves winning much at all. However, I remember our demise and subsequent revival in the mid 80's/early 90's like it was yesterday. Even with our two temporary stays in the Premier League with DJ and then Mick, I believe what GT achieved was nothing short of miraculous and we didn't have a pot to $$$$ in.

don't think the size of the squad will allow us to get promotion but jackett and his coaching staff have done all we could have asked of them.

It is definatly what Kenny Jackett bases his management style in. Defensive shape must be the main focus in training. I do sometimes think it is a little OTT. Defending as deep as we did yesterday against 10 men with a big lump like Jones up there was almost inviting a goal but I guess I really cannot make too much of a fuss when I see a stat like that.
