The kids that run around on a Sunday morning will pay for that. I don't know how much the fine is now but my wife used to play for Walsall Ladies and she had a £40 fine for being sent off. The F.A. will instruct referees accordingly.!!!

Next fine will be for cameramen looking for attractive women in the crowd.

On the subject of socks, did anyone else notice Danny Rose's holes in his socks on Wednesday night? What was that all about?

At one of the recent World Cups didn’t Bendtner get fined more heavily for wearing visible ,above his shorts ,named underpants than some nation’s FA who were charged for their fans singing racist songs?

Yes, and even our fine is significantly bigger than the one handed out to Russia for racism a few months ago.

Didn't the English FA get fined for the team not using Powerade branded bottles at the run-up to the tournament?

We all know that the sportswear companies who pay large sums in sponsorship, have penalty clauses built into their deals. Hence the fine. However, the crazy thing is that the fine amounts to same as that for throwing chairs and homophobic abuse. This is completely wrong.
I wonder if our FA had told the players concerned about the issue of the socks. If they did then the players should pay their own fines, rather than take money out of the FA that could have been used to promote disabled football or some similar worthwhile cause.

Or it could be that the FA thought the players had enough to occupy their minds that they didn't tell them so as not to distract.

I was not aware at the time of the 1974 finals as I was 9 and Johan Cruyff was beguiling one and all with his wonderful skill, Years later when reading about the Dutch Master I became aware of this fact. Such was his standing and indeed sheer arrogance he refused point blank to wear adidas boots and the Netherlands kit as he was supplied by the rival company Puma. The magnificent official film of the 74 Finals was on recently and in it you can see Cruyff's kit has only 2 stripes on the playing kit and boots not the world famous " 3 stripes " branding. Can you imagine the controversy it would cause in this day and age, of course it would not happen now as marketing and sponsorship contracts are a million miles from the best part of 45 years ago.

Thats FIFA for you. I remember in Sth Africa 8 years ago - the only 'beer' you could drink was Budweiser ****. The street vendors with their flags and vuvuzelas etc.. were kept a 1 mile radius away from the stadiums to ensure FIFA could peddle their licensed tat.
And then remember 1 or 2 world cups ago, the team of nice looking young ladies from the Nederlands who all sat in a row wearing a Dutch Brewery brand on their T-shirts and they got asked to remove them or be escorted from the ground.? (cues puns:rolleyes:)

It was like the Cricket World Cup here in 1999.One of the major sponsors was Pepsi(including Walkers crisps). All bags were inspected at the turnstiles to check fans didn’t exceed their limits on beer and wine etc.
What fans didn’t realise however was that rival products such as Coca Cola and Smith’s crisps(amongst others) would be confiscated in case they were picked up by the cameras .
We had tickets for a SF and Final and managed to decipher the garbled guff on the back of the tickets informing us of this .

England do well in a competition?

FIFA won't want that, never have, fine the ****ers for this **** like socks, ooh hang on their fans sang 'No Surrender'? Give 'em another! Remember their fans are the utmost worst, they'll overstep the mark again one day and the Euro competition ban can be hurled out again.
