When that April with its showers sweet
Has seen at the Mol the ball at Ruben’s feet
Kicked high into the misty evening sky
Then soar and dip and leave the goalie high and dry.

    Nice one!

Edward Lear (Owl and the Pussycat)

Jeff Shi and the Wolves sought the premier league a visionary notion to float
They spent some money ,and some thought it funny, on Portugeze players of note
They sailed away with the title that way, and their presence was seen as a boon
And the fans played their part, cos they had Wolves at heart, as they danced in the Stile and the Moon

Love it! Mol Mix for your daily dose of Chaucer, Lear, Kipling and Renaissance artists.

Like our team, a cut above the rest.

Does anyone remember the haiku thread......

    Reuben flicks it up
    Ball soars magnificently
    Keeper stranded........joy.

How about a bit of Tennyson?

Up the league, up the league,
    Up the league onward,
    Into the Premiership,
    Wolverhampton wandered.

Bruce to the left of them,
Warnock to the right of them,
    Neves volleyed through and thundered,
    Into the Premiership,
    Wolverhampton wandered.

It got archived. I think Mr Wolf (bless him :D) protested it's futility.

Never seen a goal like it
    Not sure
    I will ever.....again

Andrew Marvel, To His Coy Neves

An hundred years should go to praise
    Thine passing ability that never cease to amaze;
Two hundred to adore your goals in a golden vest,
    But thirty thousand to the rest;
An age at least to every part,
And the last age should show your Molineux heart.

    Dr John Cooper Clarke

    Ace, ace we'am ****in ace
All season long we've been ****in ace
We've ****ed the Boro, sheepshaggers too.
Took the **** out of the claret n blue.

Robins, Canaries, Owls n all, if it's a bird we've ****ed them all
    Trotters, Lions, we've blunted blades
As Edgemond wolf says, this is spades.

    Brewers, Saints, dirty Leeds
Even in winter we've swatted bees

All season long top of the pack
    As the south bank sing
    We're on our way back...

Consumed two bits of toast whilst writing that ****..:)

In Edward Lear style, I've been trying to write a limerick but have got a bit stuck with the last word.

Neil Warnock had feelings of rancour,
As he though Cardiff/Wolves was a banker,
    Have gave a small cough,
    Said to Nuno "F Off,
    It's true what they say, I'm a ..."

    If by Rudyard Kipling...

If you can keep your head when all about you
    Are losing theirs...
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting...
    If you can dream...
If you can bear to hear the truth...

    If Fulham lose or draw
    We are Premier League today
    If we win tomorrow
    We are Premier League
If Cardiff draw or lose today and we win tomorrow
    We are Champions

not find lyrics or YouTube yet, so anyone help out? as was sung in Wolvo by Stan Cullis's niece in 2010...

...with possibly, worlds's first football chant, in recognition of Wolves striker1890s, Billy Malpass, written by Sir Edward Elgar...(Land of Hope & Glory)

.. which after Neves v Derby seems quite apt..

"He Banged the Leather for Goal"

    Elgar's football anthem performed

There once was a team gold and black
Who hunted their prey in a pack
    They tore Cardiff to shreds
    And had Warnock on meds
Til the &#$!er was given the sack

    Out of darkness cometh light
We come to cheer you to the top flight
And with our naked eye we saw
    Ruben Neves pass and score
    Ivan Cavaleiro crossing
    And Diogo Jota scoring
And the words of Fosun will be written in Molineux’s halls
    And in the Mendes scrolls
And whispered by the voice of Nuno.

I wandered splendid as a wolf,
To Molineux from the town outskirts,
When all at once I saw a crowd,
A host of golden Wanderers shirts.

With huge apologies to Gerard Manley Hopkins:

I caught this evening evening's event, king-
dom of floodlit football, Neves, in his riding
Of the Molineux, underneath him pristine turf, and striding
Strong there, how he rung upon the rein of a teed up clearance
In his ecstasy! then off, off forth on a volley,
As a skate's heel sweeps smooth on a bow-bend: the swerve and dip
Rebuffed the goalkeeper. My heart in hiding
Stirred for a goal, – the achieve of, the mastery of the thing!

    We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that spectates with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This day shall gentle his condition:
And gentlemen in Wolverhampton now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That watched with us upon Saint Nuno's day.

Some talk of Alexander, and some of Hercules.
Of Hector and Lysander, and such great names as these.
But of all the world’s brave heroes, there’s none that can compare.

    Apologies to William Blake

And did Nunos feet in added time
    Walk upon Cardiffs pastures green
And was Mendes,or is it God?
    In Molineuxs boardroom seen

    And did his countenance devine
Shine forth upon our crowded stands
    And was Neves employed here
    Among these many fanatic fans

Bring him his boots of burning gold
Bring us his football of desire
Bring me my beer, oh queues unfold
Bring me my Balti pie of fire

We will not stop from mental fight
Nor shall our fans sleep in our stands
    Till we have won promotion
    From EFLs unpleasant land

If Wolves' stay in the premier league lasts for a thousand years, men will still say "this was their finest goal".

Apologies to Edgar Allen Poe, and our American posters, but I couldn't resist:

Once upon a season dreary, Darren Moore pondered weak and weary,
Over many a loss and mind numbing no score draw,
While he nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at his office door.
`'Tis some visitor,' he muttered, `tapping at my office door -
    Only this, and nothing more.'

The door he opened with a mutter, expecting a Baggies fan (a 'nutter'),
When in stepped an aging player of the Buckley days of yore.
    Not the least of a smile gave he; not a minute stopped or stayed he;
But, with mien of Tony Mowbray, stood beside the office door -
Stood besides a pic of Pulis just inside the office door -
Stood, then sat, and nothing more.

Deep into that darkness peering, Darren stood there wondering, fearing,
    Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before;
But the silence was unbroken, and the darkness gave no token,
And the only words there spoken were the ones from Darren Moore
Asking of promotion for the Albion, this and nothing more.
    Quoth Paul Raven "nevermore".

And Paul Raven, never flitting, still is sitting, still is sitting
    By the pallid pic of Pulis by "Big Dave's" office door;
And West Brom have all the seeming of a team that is dreaming,
    As the other teams give them a reaming, and just can't help poor Darren Moore;
And that team, who look doomed to drop and fall beneath the Premiership's floor
    Shall be lifted - nevermore!
