    Ist July.

The dawning of nothing much really.

A 'novice' manager to the English game.

The same backroom staff that were responsible in part for watching the club blow three years GL money.

The same backroom staff that were instrumental in one of the most humiliating relegations from the GL.

The same CEO who has overseen two relegations from the GL.

The dawning of god-knows-how-long as a second tier outfit.

The dawning of the usual 'keep the faith' mentality.

The dawning of continuing to rely on 'The boss' for short term success.

Nothing to do with glasses half empty or half full.

It is to do with looking at the facts and where the club are.

How quickly the debacles are for forgotten.

    I wish Stale success.

If he is very successful. Where will it leave the club when he goes on to 'bigger things?' Leaving it exactly where it has been for the last few months, scratting around looking for someone to replace him.

If he is not successful how long will it take for the club to recover from the consequences?

Either way it will all be down to short term thinking and clueless-about-building-a-top-class-club regime.

Twelve years of Moxey. Six years of Morgan. The club is still second tier.

Its how you look at it

You can say 12 years of Moxey, 6 of Morgan - AND the last three seasons in the top flight!

Its how you look at it - you missed certain facts out, to give a negative view - like our prem status

'Happy Clapper' interpretation or 'doom monger' interpretation.

    The facts is the facts.

Millions of GL money wasted and many more given up on.Just one consequence of relegation.

That alone has damaged the club. Only one person has been held responsible for this, ( two if you count Jones).

    'Keep the faith'

I don't disagree with a lot of this...but I would take the way things are at our club over the regimes of many others.

Ultimately, it's a sad fact that we can do little about the way our club is run. I just know, I'll be a happier man if Ståle brings success to the club we love.

Good luck Ståle! Cannot wait for the new season and to sing your name from the South Bank! I hope that some fans don't get on his back if a few early results don't go our way (though that's a bit silly of me to suggest that I wouldn't hear some $$$$$$ behind me scream 'yow ay fit to monnage us am ya' if we lose a few on the bounce). He won't be a miracle worker, we have a lot of work to do if we're to be top 6 contenders, and even more work to do to set us up for consolidation in the Premier League, should we be promoted under Ståle. This is the most excited I've ever been at having a season ticket, whether that's blind optimism or just my love for Wolves increasing! BRING ON ALDERSHOT :D

Thought this was a post about Stale. As far as I'm aware he had nothing to do with last years relegation. Stop being so miserable.

I think that BNW's point is irrespective of how well Solbakken does and of course we all wish him well, any success we achieve under him will not be the result of any long-term plan, vision or football philosophy, quite the opposite.

I do want us to be successful. I just wish we had a different view on success other than rolling the dice on the next managerial messiah.

I will give Mr solbakken 100% backing...it isn't his fault that he has come into a club with a League 2 standard backroom staff and infrastructure, though a black mark to him if he has vetoed the DoF appointment.

What I am not prepared to do in the light of the McCarthy (lack of) succession planning debacle is shell out for a season ticket, replica kit etc whilst Mr Moxey is at the club.

And a financially sound club run (fairly) ethically that turns a profit and has every chance of being promoted.

Same as me, I wish him nothing but the best but the way Wolves are managed is disgusting, until the way the club is ran is fundamentally changed my season ticket purchasing days are over.

Technically it is though. If you take a job and you want to be a success you should state what resources you need. Okay so he cant say to Moxey i want you to go but if he has second rate staff under him and accepts them he is then responsible for their limitations.

    Sorry to hear that Monkey.

Being the two top guys at Molineux, I guess you have a problem with Steve Morgan and Jez Moxey.

Can I ask what disgusts you in the way Wolves are managed?

And what fundamental changes would make you buy a season ticket again?

Hasn't Stale's appointment been a breath of fresh air?

Last season was a disaster, but hey lets draw a thiick black line under it, and move on!

I have been having a think about why I feel the way I do, and the same as the poster above.
After all, during the Bhatti era I went to around 50% of the home games and had a ST when we were in Div Four. Three things I think:

    1. Could be an age thing. I have supported Wolves for 35 years now and have seen about as much off/on field mismanagement as I can handle.
    2. The economics of football. Extortionate ticket prices etc plus rip offs like booking fees, ticket priority schemes etc mean I have less patience with Wolves' travails than I used to.
    3. The '3Ms'. We were sold a pup here. Much was made of how the three of them got on and were running a well managed club etc. As soon as one M departed the scene, the whole thing fell like a pack of cards. I liked Mick McCarthy being our manager but I think we relied on him to a ridiculous extent in terms of football knowledge etc so now not to recruit a DoF and for the two remaining 'Ms' to appoint a novice as a manager is beyond belief frankly.

oh yeah...one more thing. Could people please stop confusing 'well run club' with 'well run business'. Compared with the likes of pompey/Blues/Rangers we may well be the latter. We certainly ain't the former.

BW, the club for me operates in such an 'us' and 'them' mentality it stinks.

We all know Mick's time was coming to an end but the way the club handled it and then the appointment of the TC was of a standard I wouldn't expect from a non-league club.

We effectively gave up on the prem even though we were far from relegated, I will never forgive the club for this but it seems a lot of fans are happy to just sweep this under the table. When you have people with this kind of mentality running your club you are only in for trouble.

Novice? He's won more trophies than anyone else we were linked with (bar Walter Smith)

The same backroom staff that got us up and kept us up.

The same CEO who has overseen two promotions to the Premier League.

By referring to the Premier League as the Greed League you are showing your disdain for top flight football in this country so you're in no position to moan about us being a second tier club.

That "dawning of a new era" is laying it a bit thick.
As is "nothing has changed really".

Rightly it should be a new start following a relegation few wanted.

I've followed Ståle for a number of years in FCK and I can say he is good. Very good.

I don't think it will be a (as som romantics wish for) dramatic turnaround, but he is a cornerstone of a rebuilt Wolves, albeit maybe not how many Wolves fans expect.

sensible post - I agree with most of this. Ive supported Wolves for over 35 years too -about 36 or 7- when I can remember - and it wears you down. I went to 95% of home games in Div 4,3,2 - now I got to a handful mainly down to time/finances.

I do hope to go to more this season, and am really looking fwd to it

The prem is where we want to be - when we get there, its not all its cracked up to be.

    Novice in English football.

How has the backroom staff 'kept us up'

The CEO twelve months ago informed all that the club were aiming for 'top six'. He is also on record as saying the club will be established in the GL. Neither seem likely in the forseeable future. He has been here twelve years. He has earned millions. Promotion to the GL is fine. Establishing the club in it has so far eluded them. After a decade or more you would have thought the club would have managed this if the right regime existed. Please see Wigan as an example.

I have a disdain for the GL most certainly. I -and anyone else- can moan about what the hell I like.

Thanks for coming back MM, last seasons exploits will live long in the memory...

All cannot be well when you mention the club operates an 'us' and 'them' mentality.

Wolves have recently appointed a Supporter Liaison Officer in Paul Richards.

Hopefully, Paul can help iron out any deep running issues fans have with the club.

The OT was simply wishing Stale good luck on Monday - how come all threads degenerate into this?

It's probably just because we're stuck in the awful no-man's land between the end of last season (which in fairness was about March in our case) and the start of the next.

Hopefully be better by Monday once Stale turns up for work and we get to hear about what he's up to.

Best of luck Stale. by the looks of this thread you may need it if were not 10 points clear by Xmas.

And is there a bit of catch 22 in some of the posts. We are to compete in the "GL" but act like a small club? Yes we could do things better but we can't return to jumpers for goalposts days. Sadly football is now money driven. It's very different to my youth in the 70s that's for sure and I miss some aspects. However I still love the game and OUR club.

I'm a Mick fan! It doesn't stop me supporting the new Manager and wishing him well.

It doesn't stop me agreeing with Long Ball man in his concern about the club appointing a novice for one of the toughest leagues in world football!!!

Nor indeed does it mean that I have changed my view that we already had the Manager with the best chance of getting us back at the first attempt, with the best chance of persuading the better players to stay and with the best knowledge of that league and with the experience of having done it twice already!!

Stalle is a poor choice by comparison, but he is the Manager now and I desperately want him to succeed.
