Loaned out to Telford United. I take it he'll be leaving us permanently soon.
Surprised to see that he is 20. For all the fuss when he came to us I would have expected him to be doing more than he has achieved. Reading the reports of the under 21.s he does not seemed to set the world alight at that level.
Can anyone tell us anything positive about him?
All too often you see our youngsters aged 20/21 and think they have time on their side, but the likes of Dicko and Afobe coming in as reasonably seasoned pros and hitting the ground running shows the gulf our lot are yet to really bridge.
Makes you wonder just who in the U21's are capable of stepping up right now. Given the U18's are probably a couple of seasons away from being considered, what do we do in the meantime when it looks as though we are reluctant to bring outsiders in
I'd hardly say we're reluctant. Wary, may be but not reluctant. I'm sure if the board could have guarantees that all future signings would be as successful as Afobe and Dicko, they'd have had the cheque book out more than they have.
I agree to an extent, but when Dicko joined us, he was leaving Wigan for a league one club having had several loans with others. He had hardly set the world on fire. He had half a season with us in league one, and now looks a really good player. So sometimes players need to drop down, play some first team football to realise their potential.
It really is hard to judge based on substitute and U21 appearances.
Michael Kightly is/was conclusive proof that being discarded when young DOESN'T mean you're totally useless & will never amount to anything. Of course some might say he's but one success in a multitude of failures. Lewis Gobern of course keeping him out of the side initially
