Chelsea are out and no doubt City and Arsenal will follow suit.
All that money spent .Oh dear.
I couldn't be more pleased! The greed league fails. Although Barca, Real and Munich are as bad.
Chelsea cheating was disgraceful. So glad they got completely outplayed and outclassed tonight.
PSG have hardly kept their money in their pocket either,
I still think it is wrong they went out on away goals. If it goes to extra time away goals should not count anymore.
fair point jonzy. but I care more about the entrenched rich in our league.
Thought PSG were absolutely magnificent tonight. Completely mugged Chelsea off and should probably have had a couple more.
At the start of the season, i saw Chelsea as a slick footballing machine. Powerful, skilful and without a flaw. All i see now is a lack of discipline.
Thinking about it - i'm delighted they've gone out. Horrible *******.
Good, I want them all to fail this season I don't know why as I'm usually the opposite, although I have a sneaky feeling Arsenal get through.
Souness is spot on what he's saying, teams trying to win with gamesmanship rather than skill & quality. This needs to stop now it's ruining my viewing pleasure.
It's something I've never understood. Whoever plays the second leg away potentially get an extra 30 minutes to get an away goal.
Glad justice was done, terrible from Chelsea and Oscar to get Zlatan sent off and they were a million miles away from PSG tonight.
I still wouldn't completely write Arsenal off as they are capable on their day but the third has left them with a mountain to climb, it's certainly looking bleak again for the English clubs in Europe.
Our teams are barely a match for the tier below Barca, Bayern and Real at the moment.
It's $$$$$$$$ really. If it was us ( chance would be a fine thing ) I would be $$$$ed off right now.
Feel gutted for Mourinho, John Terry and Diego Costa. All decent, thoroughly likeable football men...
yeah thats a pretty obvious advantage...not thought about it before.
Also, what is the point in employing the officials behind the goal if they are blind. They could have made 3/4 decisions today and made none. What a waste of time
They have home advantage for an extra 30 minutes. That's not fair either. Why don't they play 15 mins back in Paris !!!
Of course away goals should count extra time.
Agree, but how much do they charge for entry compared with England?
Now that's a surprise. When did we become Chelsea fans?Take a look at the red card,IBRA had his legs bent behind him.....sounds like a rescent Wolves red hotly contested?
Well said. I've never understood either why there's such a whinge about it.
Horrible, horrible game, but well done and well deserved from PSG
I think it goes beyond that, there's a distinct lack of flair/ability (when comparing at the top level) apart from Cesc and Hazard it's far too workman like.
The fullbacks, one's a centre half/fullback and the other is a defensive fullback.
At that top top level Oscar looks like Dave Edwards, hard working and will defend but at that very top level isn't there technically.
Ramires as an attacking players - needs no explanation.
You wouldn't expect either centre half to carry the ball out from the back and become an additional midfielder - like many of the top clubs have.
Throw in Matic another defensive player and Costa who is far more about his physicality, which can be matched at this level, and you can see why they struggled tonight.
Interesting analysis. It seems that Mourinho is getting more and more cautions and negative and defensive as a manager as time goes on. Not sure why though
I got so fed up with it as a "spectacle" that I started channel hopping and missed the PSG second goal !
The Sky propaganda machine will kick in now with the likes of Martin "Best league in the World" Tyler and his cohorts trying to convince us of that myth.
It will be interesting to see what "woe is me as we are the victims" drivel the these days "not so special one comes out with.
The Ref had the red in his hand before the tackle had barely finished in fairness to them but I still don't like players being around the Refs.
Why don't the powers that be do something though, all this cheating & unsportsmanlike behaviour needs dealing with from above.
No idea to be fair
It is still the best league in the World, you can't deny the speed & pace of the game with the atmosphere of close packed out stadiums is still the better than watching anything else even if the quality/results are lacking currently.
It's the best marketed.
If something has a significantly bigger marketing budget than its rivals it will invariably have more customers, that doesn't mean it's the best just the most viewed.
No it's just the best league to watch as it's the most passionate & with packed out stadiums & good atmospheres. Spanish teams barely get 75% of grounds full.
It also has the highest amount of big teams playing big games.
Their next league game, tickets start from 40Euro-100 Euro for adults.28 Euro for the game after, all depends on the opposition.
You clearly haven't watched Barca or Bayern lately then.
Our teams are miles behind the best in Europe.
I meant as bad in the greed/financial domination stakes.
Totally agree with your second sentence!
Totally agree. I am sick of seeing these overpaid players running around trying to get other players sent off and rolling on the floor at the slightest tackle.
Delighted Chelsea lost. They were a joke tonight.
The Championship is a much better league in terms of unpredictability and even entertainment these days.
There appears to be so much money at stake that teams are far too conservative. I can't remember a Premier League game I've watched on SKY this season as a neutral that I've thoroughly enjoyed and been on the edge of my seat over. It's become a little too dull hasn't it.
I don't pay for Sky Sports and only see the headlines on the news. I really am not interested in premiership teams, i think the atmosphere is generally average, certainly in Europe the continentals more or less consistently outsing the English teams.
Not vaguely bothered we have no remaining teams. My life does not vaguely revolve around wasting my money drinking beer (actually it does) and watching the premier league in the pub.
"The best" is the wrong word to use. "The most exciting" is probably more apt. Exciting in the terms of unpredictability of results. Clubs at the bottom can and do beat clubs at the top which I think happens more often than in other leagues.
Sometimes matches are just as bad in the Premier League as in local matches played on parks.
The best quality league is la liga by a long way IMO
In the PL the bottom teams can always beat the top ones.As. Such the top teams have to play their strongest teams whereas in the other leagues this is less so and as such are able to rest their players prior to CL games.
This is something that gets repeated so often people believe it to be true, but it really isn't the case.
A lowly Spanish team is just as likely to beat one of the two giants in that league as any relegation-threatened English team is to beat Chelsea or Man City. Chelsea have only lost twice in the league this season, City have lost four, the same as Barcelona. Real Madrid has five defeats.
I think that is compensated for by having an extra 30 minutes at home.
Separate names with a comma.
