Has collapsed on the pitch at White Hart Lane.
Sounds dreadful on SSN, hope he is okay.
He looked up when he was stretchered off but seemed dazed. He's been taken to hospital.
Listening to 5 Live and someone reported that he has history of fainting on the pitch so hopefully nothing more than that .
4th time its happened hopefully he will be ok
Even if it's happened in the past and he's subsequently been fine I'm surprised doctors have said he can carry on playing. See that Spurs youngster that they're being sued for millions over. It's such a litigious world, I'd be too worried about him one time collapsing and not getting up to sign him off.
Muamba was at spurs too
Fainting due to a known cause is very different to collapsing due to something unknown. Why stop someone playing football due to something benign? Hope he is ok and it really is nothing serious.
Hope he is ok.
Not necessarily. A syncopal episode can be damaging even if it's from a usually harmless source.
Harmless cause of syncope such as?????
Hopefully he's alright.
VTAC, subclinical HCM, vasovagal syndrome which is what Gomis has. It has been known to cause brain damage from hypoxia.
To be fair I'm sure the club doctors have done their due diligence, the point was if he did have a more serious one due to exercise induced causes they'd have no leg to stand on and in today's climate I'm just a little surprised he's been given the go ahead to play top level sport.
Could have been an epileptic fit?
As long as you make him aware it's his choice to do whatever he wants surely.
Is intense exercise a trigger? I suppose you are starving the brain of oxygen at times when it's all being pumped to you muscles.
A few quotes from Sam about Gomis and his memories of the Fabrice Muamba incident:
