Lost 4-0 to Nuneaton today!
Academy working well then!!!!!
They have won one game this season, in the league!
Very poor result today for them.
It gets better and better as the Morgan blueprint unfolds!
It would be ok if they were doing alright but as it stands none
of them can be anywhere near the first team. It just makes us look
an even weaker squad.
This proven when he keeps naming three defenders on the bench!
To be fair...
If Iorfa, Hause and Evans would have been playing for the Under 21s, but they've been good enough to step up to the first team already. So saying that the Academy isn't producing anything is just factually wrong.
Also, with Flatt on the bench and Dutton sent out on loan, I have literally no idea who we'd have had in goal today.
Our results are $$$$ poor at u21 level.
I couldn't care less if they are 21 or 17. To have won one league game all season is abysmal. They probably don't remember what it feels like to win a game!
I know can be commented for lot youngsters not just wolves
But those three mentioned were bought in youth products to
Anyone know who played in this team?
WOLVES: McCarey, Matinyadze, O’Hanlon, Weeks, Upton, Margreitter, Reid, Kellerman, Wilson, Enobakhare (Rainey 39), Hunte.
Subs not used: Hyden, Burgoyne, Ortrega, Graham
Margreitter plays and we let in four against Nuneaton? I'm starting to see why Kenny didn't give him a first team chance...
its no good just putting the blame on Margreitter sp.just because he is a known name, you could have put rooney in a $$$$ team and he wouldent make a difference.its 11 players to a TEAM,not ONE.
I agree. Abysmal stuff by the u21's. No excuses. They should be doing a lot better than this.
Thanks. Graham not used? Why name him if he is not going to be used?
Why was Graham not use? Strange.
Where were Keita and Eusebio?
I've noticed the official twitter haven't even mentioned the score. Little wonder!
Didn't realise the U 21s had on,y won one game in the league all season.
And Morgan says this is our future.
God help us
Our U21s are crap, we have great facilities but we don't have the coaching or the scouting to make the most of them. If only Chris Evans was still in charge.
Still nothing on our abysmal defeat to Nuneaton yesterday. They must be bloody embarrassed!
Agree on Chris Evans, quality coach and very proffesional guy.
Robbie Keane, Keith Andrews Adam Proudlock, Lee Naylor, Mark Davies Joleon Lescott to name but a few.
Ebanks Landell (?)
All could have played yesterday, but either were with the first team or out on loan. You cannot have it both ways - youth coming into the first team and strong U21 team, at our Level.
It's because we are looking at improving the under 18 and more importantly the under 16s. The quality will filter though in a few years. There's no point at spending millions on the under 21s. We are doing it the correct way. Just wait.
Three of the four defenders yesterday were 17. Swan and Carter missing. It was 1-0 when Margraiter went off. The goals all came from crosses into the box from wide and the centre backs being dominated by big ugly forwards with 100s of league games behind them. Only Reid, Weeks and Kellerman were regular U21 players and they are 19, 18 and 20 respectively. As has been mentioned before, the best U21s have already graduated to the first team.
Anyone any idea where Keita, Torras and Eusebio were yesterday?
Though he is no longer with us morosewolf you could throw in Forde also. I believe he is still under 21 and certainly played yesterday. JudgedRed how could go to such a match and give an impartial report, don't you know the correct default position on this site is apoplectic with rage.
Eusabio was injured. The other two not selected.
I cant understand why Graham was just left on the bench yesterday.
Surely he should have been given some game time?
Probably still not over his injury problems so taking time over him.
I didn't know they were that bad; only 1 win to date.
Morgan talking from where the sun don't shine as usual.........
I understand that they are a young side but the record this season is very poor.
A losing mentality surely cant be helpful?
Goldenwolf69-Read the above comments to try and understand where the priorities lie in the Academy ,and why the results have been poor at U21,if you saw the results at the younger age groups you might change your tune!
Graham has been out injured. He came on yesterday and played really well.
Oh he came on. It looked like he was an unused sub on the Nuneaton twitter.
What really really well, made a hell of a difference,do you think he could make the same impact in the first team, after all it wouldn't be against the mighty Nuneaton it would only be against little teams in the championship, not the conference
Well you could play Football Manager and buy a prem standard winger for 15 million or play real football and persevere with Graham for 4 or 5 years on the off chance that he fulfils his potential.
We signed Iorfa, Hause, Evans and Cassidy from other teams. While the other players you've named aren't exactly anything to shout about. Not good enough for a category 1 academy at the moment.
The only results that matter in the academy are how many players are produced that can make the step up. It doesnt matter if some of the the youth talent produced has been in "bought in" from other clubs. If we had not got good facilities then we would not be able to attract them.
If we could get a player like Iorfa coming through each year then I would be absolutely delighted. My fear is that as the academy system develops that we may well be the club losing our best academy players to other clubs, maybe even local rivals.
That's because when they came though we wasnt.
It's going to take 5 years minimum to start to get the benefits.
How old were Robbie Keane or Normnan Whiteside when they debuted? why will it take 5 years ?
I'm afraid patience is a virtue and we've had very little to celebrate for a good number of years, to then tell fans to wait another 5 years is ludicrous
They are exceptions to the rule
