When will the greed stop?
It was hard to believe that wages would ever go past 100k per week, but then they did and now it is not uncommon at all. Indeed, where will it stop? I'm sure, in time, people will look back on this era and think we were all mad to accept this!
It would all stop pretty soon though if everyone (in the world) stopped paying for TV subscriptions. But I guess many people need something like football in there lives, and i'm sure The Powers That Be, would get a little jittery if it stopped taking up so much of the male populations energy and critical thought. Bread and circuses and all that.
Just one of the reasons that I will never ever subscribe to sky sports or any other. I - personally - don't want to contribute my own cash to the giant cynical money making enterprise that football is today. Delighted to pay my season ticket money straight to my club but I refuse to pay £50 a month to sky so a 17 year old youth team player at Sunderland can drive around in a Porsche.
Then 10 years or so later that same player will be bankrupt & living off the state after 'Investment' companies or 'dodgy business ventures' have lost all his money. Most footballers brains really are in their feet!!!
The reason I start this thread was solely about Ferguson and the money he is allegedly being paid as Man Utd 'Global Ambassador' for not more than 20 days per year. £108K per day with (presumably) free travel and subsistence and associated costs on top is an outrage.
But who is at fault? If you were offered it would you say no?
Companies that are hundreds of millions in debt always behave this way.
I don't think it's anything we will ev er have to worry about.
