I think there may be a slight misconception of Dave Edwards in regards to his goal scoring abilities. I have seen countless posts conceding Edwards' lack of overall impact and limited attributes tagged with the line 'yeh but he does score goals' Well does he? I've just been looking at his statistics for this season, and in around 26 league games, virtually all of which barre the odd one, I believe he has started, he has scored a total of 4 goals (2 of which have came this month) hardly prolific is it? I've never been his greatest fan but at the same time don't have some sort of vendetta against him, i just feel at this level he is at best a useful substitute to bring on when the game is stretched. Surely though, if you're going to deprive the team of a second striker, then an overall impact and greater goal tally is required? In connection, i also see a lot of people ruling out Jacobs and stating that he isn't up for it at this level. Well from what i can recall, in the league, he has only played in his best position once (at home to Cardiff when he came on as a substitute). By no means do i think he has impressed in those cameos but surely he deserves more of a consistent chance given how impressive he was in that role last season, during which I felt we played our best and most entertaining football. Perhaps as some suspect, there is more to it off the field. Any thoughts?
