With NB & SB sold out, and only wings of top tiers left, plus nearly all 2,300 in Steve Bull bottom tier, it looks like the gate will be about 28000 for Barnsley at best. Shame we couldnt hit the 30,000 with this offer.

Arent Barnsley in the North Bank wing? Of course this estimate could be adversely affected by how many they take up from their allocation?

A win at Leeds could boost sales, but I envisage a good beating sadly.

  2. I know we did not set the place on fire on Saturday against the shots, but i have seen the goals Leeds scored and they were all through bad defending errors. Have faith.

They should have done a deal for the Steve Bull lower. Nobody really wants to sit in there, $$$$ view and if it rains you get $$$$ed on.

28,000 would be a decent gate for a midweek game, and I doubt that Barnsley will bring many fans.

Considering we're coming off an awful season and it's a Tuesday night game against a lower team like Barnsley 28,000 would be a great turnout imo

Be a bit embarrassing of we get a lower gate than some of our home games last season. I know we were in PL, but even so...

Good grief have you all lost the plot. We're giving away tickets to approx a third of the crowd if not more and you lot are banging on about a good turnout!!!!

After the $$$$ that was last season, what did you expect? Plus it's a midweek game.

Take off your 10,000 freebies what's the gate then? I'll tell you what it's what we'll get for most home games this season. Unless of course we hit the top 2 or 3 then our loyal fans will be back in droves.

Well 28,000-10,000 = 18,000. With all the news in the press about Jarvis and Fletcher leaving (our 2 best players) a lot of people feel negative about the Wolves and maybe don't want to spend money on a team that they expect to do poorly. We are lacking in loyal fans but we have enough to get a decent enough Championship attendance imo.

I don't disagree as long as no one here bangs on about how great our gate Barnsley is. Because it simply isn't.

We will see how loyal our support is at Ipswich away on the 19th September. A few games into the season, mid-week night game far, far away...

28,000 as a figure is great, as I said above but in the circumstances with the free ticket offer it doesn't spell optimism for the Derby game.

The Derby gate will be poor. Maybe even embarrassing.

We'll have a few 17,500 gates this season.

Yeah, Derby never sell out the Steve Bull lower either.

Lacking loyal support? since 1994 ,how many years have we had under 20,000 averages?
and nearly all of those years are mid table championship.Wolves fans might be a lot of things , but one thing you cant call us is not loyal!!!

We were shocking last year.awful .albion had one of their best years.who had an higher average attendance?ill answer it for you.Wolves did!!!

I can't think of them ever having a higher attendance than 27,000, apart from when we go there.

I wouldn't base it on that, considering the away travel leaves at 1:30pm many people who work or go to college/school won't be able to make it. Not a question of loyalty.

3 sides of the ground closed , bankrupt.the stayaway fans were protesting..any wolves fan would know that.apart from the people who go on football forums and pretend they are wolves fans.but whose only reason for being on this forum;is to run wolves down and cause doom.

I don't know why you think I'm not a Wolves fan. The question asked was has the $$$$s attendence ever been higher than ours! You seem to take me too seriously dear sir!!!

Had a quick look on the Barnsley website, tickets for the wolves match are currently on general sale, can't see them selling out.

When were three sides closed? The Waterloo Road and North Bank were closed, but the South Bank and John Ireland remained open during this time, any wolves fan would know that...

Ahh!! The girly chants of Jon Purdie echoing around the near empty South bank!!

Anyway, I've got my season ticket for the umpteenth year in a row and will be there on Tuesday night to watch my team thrash Barnsley (for a change)!

Some of you lot are either silly, or just on a wind up.

28,000 for Barnsley at home on a week day would be a TREMENDOUS turn out.

FFS, to hear the way some of you lot constantly bang on about your crowds vs ours you would think that the difference would be like it is between Liverpool and Tranmere.

No we don't get 27k crowds, not against you, Villa or even if we played Barca, because our ground currently only holds 26k.

Last season you averaged approx 800 more than we did....whoopie $$$$ing do. And don't give me $$$$e about you had a poor season, we had a good one, blah blah blah..because we all know that the vast majority of the crowd is made up of season ticket holders and away fans - very few tickets are purchased on a match by match basis. Regardless of how well we are doing its quite apparent that Albion fans will not, or cannot pay £40+ to watch a home game on a regular basis. I'm sure the 1500 empty seats will be more than offset by the £60m we will shortly be getting for retaining our Premiership status ;)

And if you would like to compare respective gates further you can visit

    http://www.wearetherangersboys.com/forum/showthread.php?60011-Average-Attendances-Over-Each-Club-s-History

which will show you that historically Wolves have averaged a whole 1300 more than we have.

So stop banging on about crowd figures like you are some kind of super fans, because quite clearly if you can't fill your ground when the tickets are free, then you aint.

Now we have compared attendances, shall we compare the far more important head to head results for the last 10 years or so?

We can't fill our ground for an unattractive fixture on a Tuesday night? Bore off. When was the last time you filled your $$$$ ground at 3 on a Saturday?

    Remember this?
