Same team that started against QPR, though I'd like Jarvis to have a role he's not fit enough yet according to Mick (reading between the lines).

I think i'd start with Jarvis, get one or two goals up and then fetch him off.

Very risk bringing him on with 30 minutes to go when we are drawing or losing, far better to start with him for me.

I have just watched the QPR game and I was a bit harsh to drop Hennessey...

So I will switch, Hen to start Ikeme on the bench

Have to disagree there. I would finish with Jarvis when defenders legs are getting tired

Jarvis won't start, the only position up for debate is left wing.

I think we'll see the same team as yesterday.

Interesting ProudWolf, wouldn't mind at all if Friend had the first 45 and Jarvis was introduced at half time. He did a very solid job there at Sheffield.

We need that balance of a body who can operate wide left. We won countless games with Mickey Gray there so maybe Friend can do just as good a job for 60 minutes on tuesday night.

I'd actually start Keogh on Tuesday, and then if it's not working we could bring both Jarvis and Iwelumo on to mix things up a bit.

  12. You can't drop Big Chris and play Keogh instead. Even though the big man has had two games below his previous high standard he is still a better striker than Keogh.

Different players and if you cant see that you have not got a clue.

    Hennesey
    Foley
    Stearman
    Mancienne
    Ward
    Kightly
    Henry
    Jones
    Friend
    SEB
    Iwuelmo

    Subs

    Higgs/Ikeme
    Shackell
    Vokes
    Keogh
    Jarvis

Keogh and Vokes can count themselves unlucky to not start. They have both changed the way we have played.
I still am not sure wether to bring Iwuelmo on in place of Keogh, when Jarvis comes on.
For continuety, and because he has been awesome play him and see what happens on Tuesday.
If he is as bad against Derby as he was against QPR, Birmingham (i'll forgive him Blackpool, he scored goals). I would leave him off at half time, and replace with Keogh.
Jarvis is not fit to start, Friend by all accounts has looked good on the wing in training.

You cannot leave Keogh of the subs bench, he has looked impressive coming on.

May be it's time for Keogh to say $$$$ off I ain't staying where I aint appreciated, and move to one of our competitors......

My team on Tuesday night would be:

    Ikeme (if fit)
    Foley, Mancienne, Stearman, Ward
    Kightly, Henry, Jones, Gray
    SEB, Iwelumo

Bench: Hennessey, Shackell, Jarvis, Keogh, Edwards/Vokes

I think Keogh deserves a chance, okay he almost certainly won't score but he looked very good when he came on and we didn't create enough clear cut chance on Saturday whereas QPR did. Keogh does create chances.

And yes I am well aware they are totally different players, but our current tactics aren't working. In the last two games teams have been wise to our style of play, packed out the midfield and doubled up on Iwelumo a lot. A change in player will force different tactics.

Why drop Hennessey? He kept our arses in it yesterday and couldn't do a thing about their goal.

  18. jlovatt

    jlovatt Guest

He'll keep the spot on tuesday even if Ikeme was fit as Mick plays players who are on good form but I just personally think we are better as a defensive unit with Ikeme. Takes more control of the penalty area than Hennessey does.

  19. If you love Keogh to bits that's ok, it's your opinion.
I don't reckon him this season, he still looks weak, and tackles like fairycake.
Don't try to tell me that coming on for a few minutes at the end of a game and making a few flicks means he would have any effect over 90 minutes.
If he ever becomes either a striker or a winger or a useful midfielder at our level, I'll be pleased. Until then cut out the insults. I haven't insulted you......yet!

So anyone who wants to start Keogh for 1 game to freshen things up now "loves Keogh". Great. Calm down, others have an opinion, don't knock them for giving it.

Keogh and SEB were pretty good at the end of last season before Big Chris came in, did you want to drop him then?

I assume your post was aimed at Super Hans but i'm getting fed up of the Keogh insults from posters, not just you, when he is barely featuring for us. Most games when he has featured this year have been on the wing, not in his favoured position. I'd like to see how well SEB or Iwelumo play on the wing.

I would start with the following team:-

Hennessey (I would leave Ikeme on the bench for this match)
Foley, Streaman, Collins, Ward ( Mancienne did not do that well against the Blues and QPR)
Kightly(but should be given strict instructions that he should play for the team and not for himself) Henry, Jones, Edwards,
SEB and Vokes ( I think Iwelumo should not start but stay on the bench; perhaps not through his fault referees are all the time punishing Wolves each time he goes up for a high ball)

Reserves :- Ikeme - Mancienne - Iwelumo - Keogh - Jarvis (I would have put him in instead of Edwards had MM's opinion that he is not yet 100% fit - but coming in for the second half should not stretch him much).

I assume you're not referring to me as insulting. I can't see anything insulting in any of my posts. I'm merely justifying why Keogh could warrant a start this week. I am by no means a Keogh lover. He probably more than anyone at Wolves has his positives and negatives but I think he was effective while he was on against big burly defenders and therefore could be worth using against Derby. Certainly no insults there though mate!

  23. Actually super Hans I was referring to glasgow, who loves Keogh and can't stand anyone critisising his boy.

I'm quite happy with your comments....sorted!

    No it isn't. Silly statement.

We have looked a little flat recently offensively until changes have been made and I think if MM made some changes there could be no complaints. I think Vokes has done enough to be a serious challenger to Iwelumo starting berth and I would start with Jarvis because he puts defenders on the back foot straight away. I would also like to see a Jones/Edwards partnership in midfield - bit harsh perhaps on Henry but we aren't exactly dominating the centre of midifield at the moment.

  25. Agreed that we aren't dominating the centre of the field, Saturday Boy, but for all his failings with distribution Henry does a lot of chasing and tackling. Jones doesn't do much of either and Edwards ( who I like for his enthusiasm ) is a bit of a headless chicken at times.

Blooze got it right when they bought Carsley. Of course if they don't go up it will probably be a lot of money wasted, but if they get back to the Greed League they can afford the loss they will make on him. We paid a lot for Ince and Irwin but it paid off.
We need someone to dominate the midfield area.

  26. ------------ Ikeme --------------

    Foley - Shackell - Mancienne - Ward

    ------- Jones ----- Henry -------

    ---Keogh-------------------Jarvis--

    ---------SEB---------Iwelumo-------

    A few changes ....
Kightly hasnt been on form lately, He may have more of an effect coming off the bench, get a decent performance in and get him back on track.
Neither CB played well v QPR but i'd keep Mancienne over Stearman.
A start for Jarvis, if hes fit enough, would be great.

I can't believe that anyone is seriously considering dropping our most creative player and prolific goalscorer from midfield. Kightly creates problems for the opposition just by being on the pitch - he is always double marked which creates space behind him allowing Foley to play further forward.

Kightly fit is a starter every time.

    Foley Stearman Craddock Malone

    Rosa D.Edwards K.Bennett

    Winnall Vokes Hemmings

    Subs:

    Kightly
    Jarvis
    Mancienne
    Hennessey
    SEB

Going for the subs impact approach....

    SORTED ;)

  31. An interesting selection tomhughes, but surely Shackell should play at centre-back in place of Stearman and Collins at right-back! That should give us a more balanced defensive lineup!

I would fancy that team for the FA Cup 3rd round match against the Blooze ....... the game that that we desperately want to lose!

  32. Would be good to see Jarvis start as long as they are 100% confident in his fitness

After individual performances on Saturday and with the very busy period coming up over Xmas I would like to see this side start:

    Hennesey
    Foley
    M Hill
    Stearman
    Mancienne

    Kightly
    Jarvis
    Henry
    Edwards

    Vokes
    Seb

    Subs:
    Keogh
    Iwelumo
    Jones
    Ward
    Ikeme (if fit)

    Mancienne
    Ward

    Kightly
    Edwards
    Henry
    Jarvis

    SEB
    Iwelumo

    Subs
    Collins
    Hennessey
    Vokes
    Jones
    Keogh

That would be my choice, win it and get it wide as quick as possible. Teams can double up on one winger, but not on two...if they try that leaves Edwards to break from midfield. I think Edwards deserves an extended run, looked better when he moved centre midfield. For the last few weeks when discussing Jones all we have been able to recall are his set pieces, I think we need a little more than that and the next two games are must wins.

On that basis he will never play a game. Bringing Jarvis back is a risk, nobody can be 100% confident - a player whose game is based on explosive speed is going to suffer hamstring trouble.

Usually when we lose its when Edwards starts. Jones will play against Derby as he came from there in the first place. I would consider a small change for tomorrow night.

    Hennesey
    Foley
    Stearman
    Mancienne
    Ward
    Kightly
    Henry
    Jones
    Keogh
    SEB
    Vokes

    Ikeme, Collins, Iwelumo, Jarvis, Edwards

If we get 3 points tomorrow there would be the options to make some changes on Saturday to rest some players prior to the Xmas rush.

Hopefully we will have a healthy lead before 9.00 p.m. tommorrow as I fly out to Bangkok at 9.30 for a month.

Keep me in touch with events boys!!
