anything less than 9/9 is lowering the standards

  1. Wolverhampton v Derby
    Wolverhampton v Barnsley
    Doncaster v Wolverhampton

This must be 9 points, not because I'm panicing over 1 defeat in 9 but because they are games we should win easily

Don't we ever learn...? Games we should win easily... Sigh!

It seems like expectations have gone through the roof again, we'll be calling for the Board to be sacked soon, I'm sure.

Optimism is fine, but this is the kind of talk that gets from a messge board and into the media via some unimaginative journalist at E&S (take your pick), possibly all the way to the club itself. To start a thread off for this kind of post is just daft.

Derby will be not an easy game - looking at their team they will be no push overs. Barnsley will come to Molineux and stick 10 men behind the ball, Doncaster will probably do the same at their ground as well.

  6. I think that the point here is that a team with the credentials to win the league would expect to win the next 3 games - not necessarily easily, but it's a good run of games to get maximum points after a tough run of 3 games where a 4 point return was not a bad result IMO.

Jarvo's return makes it a little more likely too !!

How many more times there's no such thing as an easy game in this League. Remember Norwich away, they hadn't won many nor indeed scored all that many and they put FIVE past us.

9 would be perfect but 7 would be a good return.

I would be very surrpised if Reading and Blose win all of their next three games

Just about all of their goals were Wolves assists...

I would be absolutely astonished if Blues and reading won their next three games!!!! As they are playing each other.

Anyway Liverpool were booed off for not winning when they are top of the Prem. Supporters can be completely ridiculous..

Derby were unbeaten in 9 before yesterday and will provide tough opposition. Barnsley and Doncaster should yield 6 points, anything less would be disappointing.

7 points over the three games would be a more than acceptable return.

Think we will win all 3, Blues win one and lose one of their next 2 away games, Reading to win their next 2 home games and Reading/Blues to draw. That will restore our healthy advantage over both.

    Three wins before Boxing Day

With home games against Derby and Barnsley and an away game against Doncaster, anything less than 9 points would be a disappointment from a team that are top, 7pts clear of the third team and have taken 47 points from 21 games. Get the mental attitude right, MM, and we should be sitting pretty by the time the Blades come to town.

  14. I agree - no reason why we should not win all 3 - and then beat Sheff Utd - Merry Christmas everyone :)

I 'hope' to win next 3, but as said 7 pts may not be too bad.

If we win 3 then of course we will increase the gap at the top OR 3rd place 9 (or both if reading and Blues draw against each other)

I agree we just need to beat Derby and see how things go. you never know, Blues could slip up away and reading at home - Reading are under a lot of pressure to keep winning every game as well, they were lucky at w/e apparently

  16. Derby will be a tough game that’s for sure. Anyone who expects us to walk all over them has got another thing coming. However, all great teams jump back from a poor result and I expect us to do the same. Take Chelsea this weekend for example. Lose at Arsenal the previous week, and then send a message to everyone by comfortably beating an inform Bolton side 2-0 (it could have been 10). Not saying we're 'great' of course, but if we are serious about winning this league then it's vital that whenever we have a setback, we get three points on board ASAP. We did this after our previous defeats and I expect us to do it again - but it won't be easy.

I think teams had started to work us out a little. Double up on Kightly, get tight to the front two and give the centre midfield pairing no time to breath. Then the errors will appear and we won't be able to play our passing, attacking game. This is what’s happened the last couple of games. However, when opposing teams get a goal in front against us, they try and defend their one goal lead - hence why we're finishing as the better team. Against Birmingham we managed to knick a goal, unfortunately against QPR we couldn't.

The positive to come out of all of this is the return of Jarvis. No longer will teams be able to pair up on Kightly. And because of this, our wingers should see more of the ball and we should, in return, get more goals from the front two again. Well… I guess that’s the plan!

  17. No dropping of standards, nice 3 game return :)

Two wins against Sheff U and Blackpool would round the year off nicely ;)

Smashing the 106 points record please - coupled with doing Reading at the 'Mad Stad' because their fans are still not taking us as seriously as they should be.
