Chris Eagles, Kevin Doyle, James Beattie and Chris Iwelumo up for it this month. Winner to be announced on Monday's Big League weekend.

Love for Big Chris to get it, but got a feeling Chris Eagles will get it due to Burnley's performances.

    Think you're probably right there.

  3. For me they havent done that great, lost 2 during the month once against us, Eagles scores three but gets 3 yellow cards.

Big Chris on the other hand scores 6 in an unbeaten 6 games whilst picking up just 1 yellow, all on the back end of "that" miss.

    No contest for me

Good shout, Arthur, but I was thinking of Burnley's high-profile victory against Arsenal. Kind of gives a bit of profile to the sponsors if you tie that in.

I thought only league games counted for these awards?

They should actually watch the games instead of picking names that have appeared most in the papers during the month.

Kevin Foley would win hands down

Kenny - you are right there! My son reads 'match' and he is constantly listed in the team of the week. Not a scientific measure I know but he is a top performer week in week out.

    Doyle will probably win it...

Agree with Kenny though, it should be Foley

Know nothing about these awards. Do defenders ever get nominated and do they ever win?
In football ,awards seem slanted to the glamour positions - attackers - and glamour players - Ronaldo, Henri and even right back to Gearge Best.

Last defender to win the FIFA world player of the year was only in Dec 2006. Fabio Cannavaro.

You'd have to think that Paolo Maldini or Roberto Carlos must have been at least nominated for such awards in the past.
