Very simple question. The next 10 games will have a significant impact on our season.

Assuming both Hennessey and Ikeme are fully fit, who would you prefer to see Mick pick over the next 10 games?

I went for Hennessey but I don't think there's a great deal to choose between them, so I'm not truly bothered who plays.

Where is the whoever is in form button.

Ikeme rightly kept his place after winning it.
Hennesey did nothing to lose it, so should keep it.

If Hennesey makes mistakes, Ikeme comes in. It's what a squad is for

Ikeme is the better keeper, so Ikeme.

I think they're both great shot-stoppers, but for me the difference is that Ikeme appears to be more comfortable with high balls.

Ikeme plucks them from the air as if they are cherries, while Hennessey flaps at them as if they are heavy bowling balls.

Got to be Ikeme, he commands his box far better than Hennessey. He takes pressure of the deffence when it is needed.

A few months ago that question would have been ridiculous. But Ikeme has emerged as the better keeper this season. Hennessey will probably become the better keeper, playing international football will help, but he stays rooted to the line too much on corners and his slighter frame makes it more difficult to command the penalty area.

Gotta be Ikeme, every time the bluenoses had a corner I was bricking it, never had this problem with Ikeme.

Taylor for them showed how corners should be dealt with, though it didn't help thar our corners were $$$$e.

    What he said.

Questioning WH's place in the team would have been unthinkable even a couple of months ago.

I think it shows how far Ikeme has come rather than WH's shortcomings.

I think it has to be Ikeme, just for the way he commands his box. Does anyone know if he has been offered a new contract?? went to the blackpool game with his dad, but he wasn't revealing anything!!

Agree with others. Ikeme is far more commanding at corners and also more vocal. Deserves his place and should retain it when fully fit. As an aside, Ikeme's contract runs out as well thuis year so even if they were equal it would make more sense to play Ikeme, keep him happy and get him to sign his contract. Hennessey is on a 4 year contract I think so even if he becomes discontented we can get a fee out of him.

  15. Id put Ikeme in, they are both are great shot stoppers however Ikeme is more of a presence. A cross comes in, hes out and its in his hands, Hennesey on the other hand would either wait then come or not come at all and maybe cost us a goal.

I think they're both quality keepers but, at the moment, it has to be Ikeme for me.

Hennessey is the man in possesion so should keep his place until he deserves to be left out.

Even though he isnt as good as Ikeme??

I dont buy into this policy of 'until he ****s up, he should keep his place'.

If we have better players available, they should play. Simple as. Hennessey looked suspect on corners on Saturday.

Have to agree with most, a few months ago this would have seemed a ridiculous question. However, Ikeme has come in and done an outstanding job.

They are both very similar talent-wise with regard to shot stopping and kicking, but Carl commands his box much, much better.

Ikeme for me, but I believe Mick will go with WH now until he is injured or suspended.

I slightly disagree with that sentiment - If we want to get promoted Mick has to choose what he believes is his strongest team, even where difficult decisions are required. For me this involves picking Ikeme because he has aspects to his game that WH is yet to develop and we look a more convincing defending our penalty area with Ikeme in goal.

Agree with the majority with the opinion that Ikeme should play.

Hennessey needs to work on corners - there's no doubt about that. Opposition managers have picked up on that too, and tactically get their players to try to crowd him out as he struggles to collect the ball. If it's a known weakness that can be easily exploited we should give him some time out and help him improve his game behind the scenes. There's no doubting he's an excellent keeper, but he's still very much learning his trade. And there's no shame in that at all.

One of Murray's strong points was his command of his area - he always reminded me of Schmeichel in that respect. It takes so much pressure off the defence, and a keeper who comes out the claim the ball from crosses almost nullifies the threat from corners.

For that reason alone I'd probably have to go for Ikeme, who has a similar command of the box. It's something that Hennessey needs to work on (it was evident right from the Play-Off games when he had to cover for big Matt), but he's still a quality keeper and is still developing (as is Ikeme). Hopefully the competition will spur both players to strengthen all areas of their game.

I went for Hennessey although I couldn't look every time blues had a corner. Ikeme makes me feel safe from crosses etc. whearas Hennessey is far and away the better shot stopper. Should there be a system where Ikeme plays against big physical teams who will put the ball in the box and Hennessey for the others?

I see this as Mick's policy also, (this season;)).

Collins didn't *$$$$* up at Sheffield, but was dropped for Mancienne next game.

  25. Ikeme.

Until Wayne can learn to come for crosses he will never be a top goalkeeper. Many goalkeepers are good shot stoppers but the ability to dominate the penalty area seperates those at the very highest level.

I voted Ikeme, as simplyt put i think he's a better all round keeper than Hennessey, and i feel more comfertable with Ikeme in than Hennessey.

I went for Ikeme, just because as most others have said, his better command of the box and taking of high balls. It does give the defence confidence if they know the keeper will come and collect crosses. When brum had corners see how they always swung them in towards Wayne, they knew his weak point and most other clubs will too.Plus he gave a pair of gloves to my lad at compton once.

I voted Hennessy as he's more likely to produce a wonder-save, but thinking about it now that's less necessary this year, and maybe Ikeme's command of the box would've been a better vote! Wayne clearly has potential though and will never learn if he doesn't get played, IMO he can be better than Ikeme in the long run.
How nice is it to have a GK of Wayne's quality though, and then 80% of fans here think we've got an even better option that should play ahead of him!?

Has to be Ikeme, who i actually spoke to on Saturday night in Solihull Wagamama's. He is massive in height, but actually was suprised by how skinny he was! I think we were the first ever people to actually recognise him, when we asked if he was Carl Ikeme, he nervously said yes, but was fairly chatty!

Ikeme all the way. He has been immense since his introduction. Hennessy scares the $$$$ out of me.

Anything floating in the air on the 6 yard line with Henners in goal and I fear the worst - has the heaviest boots in the league - apart from that though he's a good keeper but comfortably Ikeme for me

  32. Imagine 1-0 up away at QPR on Saturday and they get a corner in the 93rd minute and pack players into our box. I know goalkeeper I would prefer and which one worries me (and a lot of others). MM cannot let sentiment get in the way and has to go with Ikeme.

He may well have been offered one and they're just negotiating it - it was only about a month or two ago that he started looking like a good player at this level. Maybe he's not interested in signing again for us - could be the case. Until the club lets us know we can only speculate.

I voted for Black Suit but I do think Del's a decent guy. Sorry wrong poll.

Got to be Ikeme as like I said a couple of weeks back Ikeme's the closest of the 2 to Matt Murray and we all know that he's the best Wolves Keeper of the past 20 odd years.
