Liked the cut of his jib as co-commentator on 5 Live Saturday. If anything he seemed biased in our favour. He seemed to fully understand what Mick has achieved with a young team & seemed to enjoy our style of play. Praising SEB (obviously), Kightly, Stearman (knew him from Leicester), Vokes & likening Edwards' style to Gazza's.

He also felt we should have had a penalty (for an incident I've haven't seen anyone else allude to).

He was clearly missing the everyday involvement of management. In fact the main commentator had difficulty shutting him up at times.

Particularly liked his admonishment of Bent for objecting to being muscled off the ball. "Stop whingeing & get in the gym, do some weights"

  2. I can remember seeing him in a SSN interview when he 1st took over at Leicster he said then that he wanted to do the same with them that Mick had done with us regarding the young and hungry policy.

Agreed and he was definitely biased for us. However, I think he took genuine delight in MM's building of a young team and he did give brum due credit for closing us down so quickly in the first half.

What I liked most was every time we got the ball on the counter attack in the 2nd half he said "here we go"... I know the feeling this season :D

Great to have his enthusiastic recognition of our young guns!

I'm not generally a fan of his, but he's just given a very good assessment of our team, our January signings in years gone past under McCarthy and the state of the top two on Big League Weekend.

Keep him away from the silly little jokes and quips and he can talk sense.

They should get him in as Mick's Assistant, I'd love that.

They are old mates aren't they? Think I read it somewhere about the time of the Ebanks-Blake signing.

I was texted during the game, telling me to switch 5Live commentary on as he was hilarious. I was too busy concentrating on the game to bother. Apparently completely lost it at one point and had to be told by the main commo to shut up and let him speak!

Just saying there could be something in Holloway becoming Mick's Assistant. Terry Connor seems to be doing a half decent job but Holloway might offer a different perspective on things.

Maybe if we went up it's happen, but can't see Holloway wanting to be assistant in the Championship.

I think he'd be happy to be in a job.

Was thinking much the same myself. Not exactly been inundated with job offers has he?

If we wanted a comedian as MM's no.2, then get one. If we want a decent football brain then get one.

Dont get someone who tries to be both and manages neither.

You're talking out the top of your hat, Visage. Don't your know that in a 2006 Timeout poll, IH came in above of Ali G and Paul Merton in a list of the funniest Londoners (must be that heavy cokney accent of his).

I'd personally have him there just for entertainment value

In that case he could man the tannoy before the game and during half time.

I would say that given results since Terry Connor was appointed as Mick's assistant that there is nothing to suggest that he isn't doing a fantastic job.

He's a good commentator and match summariser and his eccentric humour is a breath of fresh air compared to the platitudes and moronic comments of most football professionals. Whether he is a good manager is another matter.

What I do like about Holloway is that he's pretty straight-talking like McCarthy. His humour helps him get away with murder at times; a good tactic if you ask me!

That analogy where he talked about going out on the pull and not coming home with the best looking bird, but still pulling RE a scrappy win was legendary!

Why would anyone use the term 'legendary' to describe that heap of sub-Brent $$$$$$$$?

Well, I just did. Legendary in this case doesn't have to be a good thing, Jade Goody is legendary, as in her stupidity and bigotry has gone down in legend.
