How many points by end of 2008

Just looking at our fixtures for December:

    QPR (A)
    Derby (H)
    Barnsley (H)
    Doncaster (A)
    Sheff Utd (H)
    Blackpool (A)

How many points do we need/expect from these games to be in a realistic chance of auto promotion? On 47 now and I think anything that takes us to 60 and beyond would be a great achievement in a tough month for the team (i.e. a minimum of 13 points). My guess is win the 3 home games (9 points) and pick up what we can away as they will always be tough no matter where the clubs are in the league. I reckon we'll get 16 points btw to take us to 63

    I would take 13 Points

60 Points before the end of the year would be awesome.

My bad and always someone to get you on it :p Maths was never my strong point. They are the results I would go for as well Glasgow but change the draw to Blackpool away and beat Sheff Utd at home

59 is the minimum we need here. If all goes to plan, I see no reason why we should not be 60+ after our visit to Bloomfield Road though. Also Birmingham are home to Reading in this block of games.

    Looking at those fixtures....

Blues have a lot of hard games.
Reading have a lot of easy games.

It could be we are further aheas of Blues, but reading chasing us

    Here's the 3 together

    Wolves Reading Birmingham

    Coventry (H)
    QPR (A) Barnsley (A) Watford (H)
    Derby (H) Blackpool (H) Plymouth (A)
    Barnsley (H) Norwich (H) Preston (A)
    Doncaster (A) Birmingham (A) Reading (H)
    Sheff Utd (H) Cardiff (H) Ipswich (A)
    Blackpool (A) Southampton (A) Swansea (H)

Hasn't gone as I thought it would do with the spacing so if anyone can change that for me then it will show up with the fixtures properly

I'll be very impressed if Birmingham can get 4 wins or more out of their 6. Hopefully we can match whatever points Reading manage to take cause it should be a decent haul for them.

With Readings and B'ham's fixtures up, I reckon by Jan 1st it will be

    1st-Wolves...63 points
    2nd-Reading...49 points
    3rd-Birmingham...48 points

I can see Brum losing Plymouth, Preston and Reading wheras Reading don't seem too convincing against lower in the table clubs and think Blackpool could cause a shock and also Barnsley

    Like Southampton perhaps?

The "no easy games in this League" statement gets truer every week.

Thanks London. Reading seem to have the easier December but that means nothing unless they win their games

  26. At the pub before the blackpool game last week we made our predicitons. When we has 40 points, I said wed get 59 points.
    That was based on ...
    Blackpool (H) Win
    Sheff Utd (A) Draw
    Bham (H) Draw
    QPR (A) Draw
    Derby (H) Win
    Barnsley (H) Win
    Doncaster (A) Win
    Sheff Utd (H) Draw
    Blackpool (A) Win

So we only need another 12 points to reach my target. Anymore than that would be great return going into the last few months.

Out of these 6 matches - 18 points, I think Wolves can on paper collect between 12 and 16, 4 wins and 2 draws or 5 wins and 1 draw. But most of these matches are banana skin as in each one of them Wolves will be expected to win, either because they are playing at home or because they are playing teams much below in the table.

MM hates these matches and to say the truth I do not blame him for his thinking, for these teams would at least try to get a point from us in all matches.

If we continue with our current points per game ratio we take 14 points in the next 6 games. Puts us on 61 from 26 games, the only thing to worry about is that it stays a 3 horse race all season meaning we need a really high points total to go up.

    Derby (H) - W
    Barnsley (H) - W
    Doncaster (A) - W
    Sheff Utd (H) - W
    Blackpool (A) - D

I still think we will get 96 points. Don't ask me why- I just have that number popping into my head each time I visualise automatic promotion for Wolves.
This is such a funny league and any team can be great on their day. I think this is the most competitive league in England

From our games we have then we should be looking at 10 points as a minimum IMO leaving us on 57 at the end of Dec,

Personally id be more than happy with us to end up on 55 or more.. as a rule in recent seasons in this division no side with more than 53 at the end of the december has failed to finish in the top 2 come May... however i do agree with most that we need to bag as many points as we can for when Reading inevitably have their 6/7 game wins on the bounce and claw back on us.

this month is vital in terms of whether its 2 clubs breaking away like Reading and Sheff U did or whether it turns into 3... IF Reading have a bad month and we have the same gap or bigger on them at the turn of the year then the likes of Doyle and Stephen Hunt may well consider their futures in the January window as well.

  33. we win our next 6 games... no sweat... we always slip up on our 8th successive winnig Game... - week off now - time to recoup and rest ready for another 3 games in a week... C'mon you Wolves....

Reading wont necessarily win 5 or 6 out of the next 7 games. They could get injuries quite easily - only needs a couple of key players out, or suspended (look at what missing CI did for us).

We have to pick up as close to 18 pts out of next 6 games, and we will be fine, not many clubs will go on a 7 match winning run like we just did.
