What would you *take* in the next two games, if we were to drop points?

  1. There's been quite a bit of talk on various threads about the next two games, and how many points you'd be happy with from them. So maybe we can merge them all together in the one thread and gauge an opinion as to what people expect/would like/think, is a realistic tally from the Sheff Utd & Blues fixtures.

    The poll is simple.
What would you *take* from the next two games if we were to drop points...

Two draws? Or one win and one defeat? Two draws is the sensible option i imagine (2 points and stop both the others from gaining), but one win against either blues OR Sheff utd would be three points.

I can see the pro's and con's for both arguments. Of course, we could well win or lose both games, but i'd be interesting to see whether the majority would go for 2 draws or 1 win.

  2. Get the points on the board and sod the other teams.* 3 points for me, with beating Blues shading it as I think we all know they'll be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

    * I might have just contradicted myself with my final sentence, but I know what i mean.

Beat Birmingham. Most points for us, they're most likely to catch us.

Will settle for a couple of draws, but Blues have Kevin "I score against Wolves for fun" Phillips back on form and scoring when coming on from the bench.

Tough couple of games, but we have points in hand to soften any potential blows.

With the number voting for draws it seems the ghost of Goddle hasn`t been laid to rest yet..

I only voted for draws so neither team would gain on us but I'm going for 2 wins in all honesty and don;t think we'll drop a point

Would rather take the win on sheff u than blues.. that would then give us 15points on Sheff U which would be hard for them to catch.. in that scenario even if blues beat us then we'll still be 3 clear of them ( assuming they win on tuesday as well)

The priortiy at the moment has to be cutting as many teams as possible off.. a loss at sheff U could turn the breaking pack into 4 rather than the current 3..

  8. All the people who have said "two draws so they don't gain anything", what are you on about? Surely if we draw both games and they both have a draw (against us) and a win (against whoever), then they will have gained 2 points on us over the two games?

    Win vs Blues.

I don't think there's too much panic if we lose tomorrow. Reading have got Cardiff away which is a very tough fixture (I think we're the only team to beat them there this season and when you take in to account Reading's poor away form...) and Blues have got Ipswich at home who are always a tough team to play against.

Birmingham beat them at Ninian aswell I think.

I'd probably go for a win against Blues at a push.

If we lose at Sheff Utd we're 9 ahead of them with them still to play at Molineux, if we lose at home to Blues but win at Sheffield we'd be 3 ahead of Blues still having to go to St Andrews, I think it's a no brainer, the Blues game is the one we would want to win out of the two.

Good point. I thought they drew initially but you are correct.

Based purely on the fact I come into contact with quite alot of those with blue noses it has to be third choice.

We'll do the blades at Molineux anyway

Yes but if they beat us they would have gained 6 points if we lose to them both and they win their other game so it's logical thinking

Win and a draw for me (if the option was there).

I agree with Powelly about taking the points off Sheff Utd first - cut as many teams as possible off from the top 2 places, leaving us and whoever to fight it out for the title.

I'd take anything, even two defeats, because we'll bounce back like we did earlier in the season, but I think we have the steel to win at Sheffield and to beat Blues, but that would be too good to be true in this League.

A seriously flawed poll as there is no option for a win and a draw.

Perhaps the thread owner can explain this oversight?

Beating Blose would be superb and of course, as any Wolves fan would, sticking one up those brummie $$$$$$$s would be superb but i'd quite happily take two draws now if given the option.

They are two tough games, I would like to think we can put some points on the board in each game

    Come on the Wolves

Two draws would keep us four points ahead of Birmingham (assuming they won on Tuesday); I'd take that, but the likelihood of it occuring, given our draw record, is pretty small.

The Birmingham game is a very big one, and it would really be a rallying cry to our title credentials, I think. But having said that, if we were to win at Sheffield and Birmingham lost to Ipswich (quite possible), we'd be nine points away from them anyway, giving us the added confidence as a counterpoint to the top-of-the-table derby nerves.

So, to sum up: one game at a time. If we beat Sheffield United, I'd really fancy us to beat Birmingham. If we lost to the Blades, I'd probably settle for a draw against Blues just to us in top spot.

Reading travel to Cardiff on Tuesday, so a defeat wouldn't be the end of the world tomorrow as I don't think ethy'll get 3 points.

Even if Blues win we can extend our lead to 6 points on Sat - so a win against Blues for me. Plus, my dislike for Blues is stronger than it is for Albion.

It'd have to be three points for me, with preferably the win coming against Blues ensuring we're still at least six points ahead of them. Two draws and we could lose ground to both teams if they were to win their other games this week.

For me, it depends on the Reading results. If they win their next two games then we need to as well.

    I hate 'em!

Don't think Cardiff will do us any favors to be honest- most of their decent players are injured. I can't see them scoring.

  29. 2 Hard games though, I'd be happy with 2 draws. A win in either, especially v blues, would be a bonus.
