This time last year we were in the midsts of one of the most tedious periods in Wolves' great history, aka The Hoddle Era!
The football was dull in the extreme, we had a squad of overpaid, uderachieving mercenaries. And Darren Anderton was on board too!!
Many of us were hoping Hoddle would be gone sooner rather than later.
Entering the close season, things didn't look like improving. Hoddle was given the vote of confidence, all went quiet including prospective transfers.
THe summer looked like being as uneventful for Wolves as the previous season had been.
Then Hoddle made his shock resignation on Saturday 1st July via mobile phone.
And how things have improved ever since!
Good old Mick just happened to be available. He came in and from day one was showing how to make friends and influence people.
In a remarkable transfer saga, Mick was shipping in serveral new signings everyday!
The season kicked off with a younger, hungrier (sorry!) Wolves, eager to please and so far, has been slightly better than imagined.
Big Mick's popularity remains, it has increased if anything. He seems to be the most popular Wolves manager for many years, one who is in tune with the fans rather than the previous arrogant, aloof incumbent.
We have seen the signing of 2 excellent young wingers in McIndoe and Kightly, Mick rightly bringing players in on a 'suck-them-and-see' basis before committing to buying.
Now we have the exciting takeover rumours, Wolves splashed across the national press once more.
Prospective new owner Graeme Souness promising to win round doubting fans when he reveals his 'exciting' plans for our club and who his 'mystery' backer is.
What a 12 months! Who would have predicted all this last January as we ambled through yet another disappointing transfer window with the Chin ruining our club?
