I've said it a couple of times already. Adama to Barcelona was all about getting Dembele to get his **** together. Nothing else.
He's marmite here, but he's a model pro and a decent human being. Someone at Barca needs a slap for treating him like ****.
Really annoyed at their lack of professionalism in this deal.
They've always been a shady, scummy club.

I get that Adama massively divides opinion and his stats are not great but i do think our bad run over the last approx third of the season may be something to do with Adama going.
He occupies players, he provides an outlet, they are scared to leave him alone so it creates space for others and reduces the press on us simetimes.
It doesnt as always work and we are not very proloific with him but i dont think its a coincidence that our form dipped; just one factor but an important one.
Would love to see Adama, Chiquino, Neto and MGW playing in some combination for us next season.

Yet another **** up by dumb and dumber, club being run by muppets sadly with owners who've lost interest.
I don’t think they lost interest, personally. I just think they are beyond naive in some areas.

The initial link up with Jorge was a genius left field move. That aside, so many other football decisions seem so ill thought through it’s unbelievable.

The plan was obviously to swap him for Trincao all along. Barca were never paying €30m for him. It’s got complicated because Trincao still hasn’t found form and Adama can’t even get many minutes from the bench.

Trinaco not cutting it here but we can swap:
- 25 yo Adama with 1 year of contract
For
- 21 yo Trincao likely on 4 year contract

Even if we buy him to sell to someone else it makes sense

I agree mate. I just question whether Barca actually want that deal any more, because of how little they’ve used him recently.

You mean we'd have to watch Trincao for 4 years on big money? Pass, I'd rather Adama runs his deal down and plays for a season.

As a free agent he'd need to play out of his skin to get a deal somewhere else. Trincao is just ****e

This has probably been said in another post. If we lose against Liverpool, 17 points in 17 games since Traore went to Barca, which is practically relegation form.

He may not have had the goals and assists we craved, but he was still exciting to watch. Also, he pushed defenders back as they were scared to get caught out too far forward and was usually marked by 2 players freeing up space for others.

He deserved a chance at one of the world’s biggest clubs. Apart from us golden-spectacled mixers, who wouldn’t choose Barca over Wolves? It hasn’t worked, get him back, he’ll be more focussed and more effective.

Trincao has his faults. He’s not strong enough on the ball and so one footed it’s untrue but he is talented. He is more of a roaming footballer than a winger I feel.

But remember that Trincao has scored more goals than Traore has this season too.

The deal constructed was awful for Traore.

If Wolves find a way to do what Villa did over Coutinho and halve the buy price and any Traore sale is separate to whoever then I would buy Trincao.

Traore is an ‘exciting’ player and gets you off your seat but how many points did he put on the bird for us this season? Villa away was probably his most influential game as a whole.

Barcelona have a complete dead rubber against Getafe tonight and after 85 minutes he's an unused sub.

10/16 defeats since he left.

We're boring as ****.

Whoever saw this deal through needs sacking.
The terms of the deal were bad, but when they came for him he would have wanted to leave regardless. He won't sign a contract and with no other team bidding we got backed into a corner

You have to laugh at some of the comments on here, so it's now Barcelona's fault and they are a disgrace for how they are treating Adama. When are people going to accept that the issue is Adama. He was sat on our bench more often than not this season, he'd completly drifted out of the Spain picture, he went to Barca and had a couple of bright games but has drifted out of contention for them. They have had some shocking results but Adama hasn't had a sniff even when chasing a game. So it's now Wolves/Bruno/Sellers/Shi, Spain/Luis Enrique, Barcelona/Xavi fault and Adama is the victim.... None of these has spotted this world beating, unique talent that a few on the mix have and won't have a bad word about him.

Thanks for explaining it slow for those at the back.

Guy has a unique talent, but he can’t listen to coaches and he can almost never make the right decision on the pitch

Barca are a disgrace for a million things, not massively the Adama thing though imo.

Barca will only take him if they get to swap him for somebody they really dont want and looking at how they have used him so far he's only going to be a squad player there.

Looks like Barcelona don’t much rate Adama, so it would follow suit that any player they wanted to swap for him isn’t very good in their opinion.

It looks like Trincao now will be going to Sporting CP from Barca as his old coach at Braga wants him.

Wonder if we could get Gonzalez and Mingueza for Adama?

Trincao is 22 (Dec 99) and by the time next season starts Adama will be closer to 27 than to 26.

It is disgraceful. He's sat on the bench not because of his performance, but because Xavi only wanted Traore to gee up Dembele's performance. Once that had happened he threw him to the side, even though in his 6 appearances he got 4 assists, and played well. He did NOT drift out of contention.
I honestly couldn't give a **** what people think of him as a footballer, but you don't do that **** to a decent pro and human being. You bring a player in to play, not to be a pawn in your game. Xavi knew the Barca draw for Adama meant they could get him there whatever.

And to everyone slating him for his performances here, take a look at how we've done since he left. It isn't just about goals and assists. It's about how he affects the opponents plan to stop us. If you know anything about the game you would understand, but 99% of the people on the internet know nothing about playing, and only about watching. The 2 things are completely different.

if Sporting and Amorim are that interested in Trincao, and the club has decided that we 100% don’t want him here (although i’d be willing to give him a chance), why not make the business decision to swap Adama for Trincao?

At least with Trincao we could use him in negotiations with Sporting for Palhinha or maybe even Nunes (if we have the slightest of chances to land him)… With Adama coming back in the last year of his deal, we’re going to really struggle to get anything decent for him unless he agrees to sign a new deal & if not, risk him potentially walking next summer for nothing!

But still we're left with the Adama problem, he can't play every game as not enough end product, doesn't want to sit on the bench, and Barca don't want to have him.
In hindsight, the swap deal made some sense, but if Trincao looked really good and Adama flopped then Barca had no rule in place that they had to do the swap. It seemed a bit of a rubbish gentleman's agreement, on 2 players that are problematic in their own way.

Personally, I'd be happy for Adama to come back and he will probably have to face reality that if we do buy Guedes, Rafa Silva, then he will have to play off the bench....and renew on a much lower wage or leave in a year. Shame that it's come to that for both parties (feels like we've lost 40m+!)

“Xavi only wanted Traore to gee up Dembele's performance” is quite a claim though, surely they took him on to see what he could do the same as every other loan arrangement.

everyone assumes Guedes or Rafa Silva are going to work, they could just as easily not adapt

Was excellent when he came on yesterday and is clearly very talented but I’m still not sure on him. Can see him going to Portugal though and being amazing like goncalves and Vitinha have.

I think Goncalves (Pote) and Vitinha will become Portugal regulars over the next few seasons.

In a different reality, this could have been our starting midfield and front 3 this season.....

Neves---Vitinha

Pote----------Jota
Mir
Liverpool were said to have been in for Adama before Jota was sold. Nuno backed Adama and lost faith in Jota. But in hindsight, selling them Adama would have been the better option.

We chose not to spend the £18m option on Vitinha, yet he has gone on to star for Porto this season and is being linked with £40m moves to top clubs.

We have taken Hwang and Trincao on options to buy this season. We have already taken up Hwang's option, but it's likely we won't take up Trincao's.

I just hope we haven't backed the wrong horse again!!

Playing devil's advocate for a second. I think we can all -both those pro and anti Traore- see that he has the tools to be the player we need him to be. But clearly he's always been a Barcelona boy at heart and that itch was always going to be there. Now he's been there, seen that it's not going to work out. Also seen that his other alternatives seem to be to go somewhere like Spurs and play in a position he doesn't like. So the end result of this Barcelona loan could be that he comes back here ready to focus on being here and becoming the player we want him to be.
