Nuno Espirito Santo is reportedly set to land his first job since being fired by Tottenham Hotspur last year.

The Portuguese manager lasted a matter of months as Spurs boss, before being replaced by Antonio Conte in early November of 2021.

However, the former Wolverhampton Wanderers man, who secured Premier League promotion for the Molineux outfit and kept them in the top flight, is on the brink of a new adventure.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, Nuno is ‘close’ to being appointed as manager of Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Arabian league.

If that’s true, it’s quite a decline for Nuno, who was linked to Burnley a couple of months ago.

It’s likely that he’ll be earning an extremely handsome salary but, in terms of competition, the 48-year-old could definitely do better.

Despite failing at Tottenham, his success at Wolves is proof that he’s still a very capable manager and it would’ve been interesting to see him take another Premier League role.

Whatever happens in Saudi Arabia, he still could – and probably will – return to English football one day.

After all, it’s a far more challenging level of football than in the Middle East and that’s as true of those in the dugout as it is those on the field.
