That would be my view as well but if we are still genuinely holding out for him over other targets then I would imagine there must be some murmurings that we have at least a slight chance, or it really doesn't make any sense.
It's not as if it's a position in the team that would be nice to improve on, it's a vital part of the new system that we currently have no one for imv

We'll then use that cash to buy Nunes and pick up a fullback on loan from somewhere. Maybe Reguillion or someone like Robinson from Fulham.

Looking at Peps quotes in todays press conference they see Gomez who they are signing as a first team player to compete with Cancelo... I don't think they will sign another left back tbh..
