Wolves have held talks with the agent of Corinthians defender Robert Renan with a Premier League switch on the cards, Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola says on his official YouTube channel.

12 months after snatching Yerson Mosquera from under Manchester City’s nose to the tune of £4.5 million, history could be about to repeat itself at Molineux.

According to Nicola, Wolverhampton Wanderers are not the only England-based outfit to show an interest in 18-year-old Renan. The rangy centre-back has also been at the centre of discussions with the City Football Group.

“One of the brightest talents at Corinthians arouses the attention of two English clubs,” Nicola says. “Borussia Dortmund in Germany also want him.

“There is still no official proposal (for Renan). But his agent, Eduardo Bou Daye, has been in England for several days. (The agent has met) the City Group and Wolves to discuss the future of the player.

“You just need to understand how highly Robert is regarded on the market. The offers will vary between 10 and 11 million euros for the boy.”

What happens next depends largely on how Renan sees his career developing.

Does he want to play regular first-team football at the earliest possible opportunity? or would he rather join Pep Guardiola’s star-studded Premier League champions; A high-risk, potentially high-reward approach, one that would probably see Renan farmed out on loan to one of City’s many sister groups, whether it be Girona or New York City FC.

“Robert, as soon as he entered the game, he played a pass between lines. One of the most difficult passes to produce,” Corinthians coach Vitor Pereira said after Renan came off the bench to set up a goal in the 4-0 Copa do Brasil thrashing of Santos.

“This shows his confidence and quality. He has to grow but he has potential. He’s a player who will fly to other levels, without a doubt. He is fast, he is technical and he has personality.”
