Since the beginning of 2010, trainer Ralph Beckett has a 25 from 90 record in fillies’ handicaps on the all-weather and backing them blind would have returned a profit of £37.83. At Chelmsford only they have a five from 12 record for a profit of £14.75. CYGNETURE is well drawn in stall 1 and will be happier back on the all-weather – she won at Wolverhampton on penultimate start – after beating only a couple home on her turf debut at Newbury last time.
Progeny of the sire Siyouni, aged four or older, do well on Polytrack. Backing them all would have found 37 winners from 172 bets (21.4% strike-rate) for a profit of £80.10 to a £1 level stake at SP. SHE DO makes her belated four-year-old debut today and returns to Polytrack for the first time since her 6f runner-up effort here in October 2020.
I’m a fan of Nicola Currie when she rides on the all-weather. She seems switched on when it comes to track biases and I’ve seen her win or place on horses who had no right on form to be involved at the finish. Since the beginning of 2016, had we bet all her all-weather mounts who were in reasonable form (having finished fourth or better on their latest outing) and led or raced prominently last time out, we’d have won 48 of our 246 bets (19.5% strike-rate) and made a profit of £67.08 to the usual £1 stake. PRINCESS SHABNAM, a winner here under Currie last month can follow up.
