Old Molineux Photos

I didn't go to either, cant remember why tho,
Many Wolves at Tynecastle.

Why did Albert Steptoe present the trophy ?

As I can recall there were quite a lot of Wolves fans at Hearts. It was many moons ago, but I think there were a few hundred. We had a great night. Went into the Hearts social club after and stayed until they closed. That is probably why we didn’t get home till 7!

Thanks, YouTube! Made my day.

Not a photo, but...

Teams used to come to our beautiful home and be scared, and rightfully so, because we could turn anyone over. Scrappy, tight-knit, determined, and electrifying to watch. That's who we were and who we should still be. The greatest years of my life.

Millwall Athletic?

Could have ended up merging with Walsall !
I may be wrong but I seem to remember something called Black Country United being mooted, possibly by Ken Wheldon. I think it was around the same time as Robert Maxwell was going on about Thames Valley Royals and David Bulstrode dreamt of Fulham Park Rangers. Truly dismal times.

Disco with the cup...

Funny story with the cup....My uncle worked at wolves....after the bus tour or either the civic reception John Barnwell chucked the cup at my uncle and told him look after it....as the ground was all shut up ,my uncle didn't really know what to do with the cup so took it home .....My grandad who had no interest in football started to panic as the cup was in a house in bushbury....My grandad couldn't sleep as he was fearing a repeat of the world cup going missing and his house being on the telly....so he decided to take the cup to bed with him and guard it.....caused amusement in the family...

The cup was still sticky from the champagne....the cup spent a few days in bushbury..
Great post , could you post it on our page ⚫

no way , that’s brilliant, great guy Pete

I didn’t realise that. I presumed it was during his time at Wolves. My mistake.
The clue is in the tip they're standing in front of.

An award cleverly disguised as a clock.

And Stan wouldn't have been happy about this one from 1936:

Goalscorer…..one of Johnny’s 15 Wolves first-team goals for Wolves came in this 2-1 home win over Burnley in April, 1961.

Kirkham attacks Blackburn’s goal in 1962, watched by Bill Slater.

I doomscrolled through Facebook yesterday, and there was thread about a similar area in Goodison Park that was fenced in like a cage, based on several attached pictures. Reading through comments from different people, it was tough place to visit; "character building experiences", "-If you survived there, you could make it anywhere" etc...
So I assume the bullies ruled supreme in there?

I went to both Goodison Park and Anfield a few times in the 70‘s, and believe me I felt a lot safer at Anfield!

Knocker, post-retirement from the game?

Can you imagine him having lived up to his nickname and knocking on your door trying to evangelise/convince you about the Jehovah's Witnesses???

Yes. Knocker after turning to religion. What a player he was, we will never know how good he could have been.

Was talking to an Ex Burley, Spurs, and England player (who has sadly passed.RIP ) who used to room with Peter on international duty and said he was the most skilful footballer he had ever trained or played with when they were both in the under 21/23 side,

Some folk said that Knocker was on the same level as George Best. I am not sure he was quite that good, but who knows how good he could have been if he hadn’t answered the door that day!

Don't think any footballer has been on the same level as George but Peter came close,

Remember going to a Wolves v Manu U game where in the morning paper Peter said he would be the headlines that evening and not George,
He got deliberately booked and was the headlines that evening, Nowadays it would be if a player never got booked LOL.
Both wasted their careers in football. more so Peter.
